It was gifted to me by a friend, many years ago and has been cherished ever since. She made it when she was first trying her hand(s) in pottery. **NEW WORK** I am currently in the process of making lots of mini artworks. I have painted lots of expressive abstract backgrounds using the same colour palette. On each one, I am experimenting with a new (to me) sewing technique. I'm finding they are taking on a life of their own as I'm experimenting. I usually have a rough plan for the sewing, and then it evolves as I'm making. This one certainly has, especially after seeing the woven fabrics at the Chanel exhibition @_tatemodern_ . My plan is to try out lots of different techniques then see what works and make some big ones. That's the plan. Let's see what happens! Now to start thinking of a name! Two new paintings to show you today - both are still life works in gouache on paper and both feature paintings within the painting. The first is titled :Daffodils in a blackbird jug with landscape painting. This painting is the larger one measuring approximately 26.5cm x 20.5cm. The second painting is titled: snowdrops in a blue bowl with rabbit painting - this one measures approximately 21cm x 16.5cm…. These are both on watercolour paper. I will be adding these to my shop later along with a small group of painter’s brooches - wool embroidery brooches inspired the colours I use in my work (see stories) - thanks always

Days 7,6,5,4 with @taraleaver #21daysinmyartworld24 I’m behind as there’s a lot going on right now but I’m determined not to fall off doing this challenge. ( part of my new years goals😂) 1st 2 pictures are undoubtedly my go to colour palette, I am happiest painting these, although painting my baubles with different colours has been fun. 3rd is My current challenge. My studio space clean up and reorganisation mission, as it is an absolute tip, this is the neatest part not very exciting but very real! 4th is my current favourite tool, this brush has the most beautiful feel and makes perfect strokes, I want a larger one but will have to save up! Last one is from one of my favourite books. It’s old, printed in 1971 Vanishing Africa by photographer Mirella Ricciardi, stunning black and white images which capture scenes from African life. Now we’re one week into the challenge #21daysinmyartworld organised by@taraleaver. Today, day 7, it’s time for a colour palette. That is one of the thing I find the most satisfying about painting, to choose the colours for my next project. My current project is inspired from my neighbourhood here in Norra Ängby, Bromma, Stockholm. So the colour palette includes the colours of the houses. Our house is yellow, so I would say that this is the most important colour in this project. The hero. So I’ve chosen two: an azo yellow medium and a naples yellow. This neighbourhood is also known as the garden city, so I’ve put in two different greens: an olive green and a sap green. As a red I’ve magenta and as blue a cobalt blue. I have a burnt umber and titanium white, too. How do you decide what colours to put on your palette? Hello - many of you will know that we have just moved away from the NW Highlands down to East Lothian. We’ve had 8 amazing years at Kylesku and from a creative perspective I don’t think I’ve lived anywhere as inspiring as the remoteness of Assynt. It’s a total feast for the eyes and I have loved the way the colours and textures have influenced my design work. It has been such a privilege getting to ‘do up’ 10 little lodges with blankets, cushions and other interior pieces to make them more homely and comfortable for guests. I’ve been blown away by the lovely warm feedback we’ve had from guests and to know we have made them feel welcome and cared for by providing a thoughtful “home from home” has given me such a fuzzy feeling many a time. Now that we are moving away it feels like a good time to take some time out, do a bit of travelling and see what new ideas come to the surface. I have always loved making as well as designing and it’s exciting to think I can maybe do a bit more of that in some new shape or form. I’ve no idea where this will take me and yet it feels right to take the opportunity to say a huge thanks for all your support and encouragement. I also need to clear some space for these ‘new ideas’ and so I’m planning a flash sale of blankets this Friday and Saturday. Some colourways are very limited but I’m reducing them all to £200. This includes UK postage. Unfortunately postage to the EU or the US or beyond will need to be added on. If you have had your eye on smthg for a while please get in touch. Otherwise the prices will be reduced on my website on Friday at 8am. Let’s stay in touch and I’ll continue to use this space to share my inspo and work.

I’ve been having these ‘wake ups’ recently that put so much perspective in my life on so many levels. I’ve been waking up to messages that are so clear then I drift back to sleep saying I’ll remember that…when I wake up the sentiment is there but the exact words or statement disappears. This morning I grabbed for my journal! ABUNDANCE is available to everyone in this world and i feel it’s not being shared to the capacity it could be…we all have this wealth/knowledge/skills why are we keeping it to ourselves… Are we scared to let people in…is it because we need time to process it? Or are we too conditioned that sharing it opens ourselves up…and we don’t want to trigger anyone (or ourselves)… or are we too scared to step out of our comfort zone? These are all questions I’m asking… I believe our triggers are here to heal us and heal the people around us…I know I can’t move forward if I don’t share some of my processes… My recent light has been going back to old ways…my love for finding items and putting them together or changing them slightly or repurposing them… I have loved seeing what colour combinations keep presenting themselves in my life and what colours are giving me energy… I have been giving myself enough time and energy to create…it’s not easy these days in this pace of life we are living…the pace has taken a toll on me and it’s taken me years to realise this…I find it incredibly hard at times to drown out the outside judgements…(but that’s their opinion) I’m learning to own my own journey and go at my own pace…give where I can…share some of my experiences… I believe there is no right or wrong way to do anything…we all have our individual ways of being. I am inspired by so many individuals daily sharing their light/their journey the way they are meant to 💗✨

Have you done your colours? After my massive 🤣😂wardrobe clear out over the weekend I decided it was time. Am loving the way how I am expressing hydrangeas on the canvas. I have moved from pastel blues to a warmer pink palette. Today’s prompt for #aprilforartists2023 is What’s my colour palette? Well here it is … I have added one extra colour ie Alizarin crimson and laying down the first layer in acrylics. Here is a wisdom word from Marc Chagall - In our life there is a single colour, as on an artist’s palette, which provides the meaning of life and art. When it comes to trainers do you go for neutral shades? If you’re only going to have one pair of trainers, I’d advise picking a pair in a neutral shade as they’ll always offer the most versatility. However, if your budget allows for a second pair, colourful trainers are a fabulous statement and bang on trend! Just make sure you choose a pair in a colour (or colours) from your colour palette. Then, not only will they suit you, but they’ll work really well alongside the other colours within your wardrobe too. If you have a more dramatic style personality these bold trainers will definitely appeal to you! I have a soft white pair which work well as a neutral - they literally go with everything! Then I purchased the khaki green pair from @marksandspencer (in this photo) as more of a statement. They won’t go with absolutely everything.. but they’ll certainly with a lot as they’re shades of green from within my soft, warm, deep palette.
