Cleaning • we have a small 2 bedroom apartment and when we first moved in I did 1 area each day, so by the end of the week the house was clean. (And did the daily things such as make the bed, dishes and clean the floors) but I felt that by the time I was done I started all over again. So my mom gave me the advice to clean as much as possible in one day and if you don’t get to everything overflow into day 2. So I started doing that and it’s life-changing! So on Mondays I clean the house from top to toe and choose one things to deep clean and one cupboard to organize and sort through! If you have a bigger home it’s definitely a challenge to fit it all in one day, but for those young moms with a small home this has benefitted me the most! Oklahoma-style burger! Breadless. I know a brioche bun is essential if you really want to enjoy a burger but I don’t eat any bread, buns, rolls. For me, the tons of sweet onions—as many ounces as the burger—caramelized, charred, steamed was all I needed. Julia Childs said the best hamburger combines chuck and sirloin. Tonight I used 80/20 beef and the flavor did not disappoint. Also, I rarely use American cheese (too salty and processed) but that happened tonight. The children found a roly poly, aka pill bug, made multi ecosystems for it which had sand, earth, a small log. We looked it up and found out they eat decaying plant matter and can live 2-5 years. They worked collaboratively to build a habitat. They observed its interaction with its environment. They're learning how to be gentle and listen to each other. They are less impulsive and clearly communicating. They made a connection between their world and birthdays. I thought I was recording a video of them all singing happy birthday. It was amazing to watch😍 Do you ask your child what they learned at the end of the day? Do you know if they had one ten second bad part of their day, that may represent their whole day. They miss telling you about feeding the animals or collecting eggs. They miss telling you about the snake they saw that was as long as a water hose. They miss telling you about the hour they spent with friends collecting and working together. They may miss telling you about the story they listened to at snack or lunch. Think about that again. Cranberry-Muffins 🧁 Zutaten: 50g Butter 350g Mehl 1 TL Zimt 30g Haselnusskerne 200g Zucker 1 Birne 1 EL Zitronensaft 2 TL Backpulver ½ TL Natron 1 Ei 80ml Öl 125ml Buttermilch 175g Joghurt 50g Cranberrys 1 EL Puderzucker Zubereitung: 1. Für die Streusel das Fett zerlassen. 70g Mehl, Zimt, Nüsse und 50g Zucker mischen. Fett unterkneten und kalt stellen. 2. Birne schälen, entkernen, fein würfeln und sofort mit dem Zitronensaft mischen. 280g Mehl, Backpulver und Natron mischen. Ei mit den Quirlen des Handrührers kurz verrühren, nacheinander 150g Zucker, Öl, Buttermilch und Jogurt unterrühren. Mehlmischung nur kurz unterrühren, da der Teig sonst zäh wird. Birnenwürfel und Cranberries mit einem Spatel unterziehen. 3. Ein Muffinblech mit Förmchen auslegen, den Teig in die Mulden verteilen. Streusel darauf streuen. Healthy Choices! For nine months I have been focused on a course correction in treating a disease I have had forever. I am a diabetic and this is the second time my body has resisted treatment. I have been very sick for several years. Since August, my treatment plan has been adjusted every two weeks, and that in itself has been stressful. I think and hope we’ve got this now. Just before supper this evening I met my goal and surpassed my physician’s. This is what I had for supper: two hard boiled eggs spiced with cilantro chutney and steamed broccoli with a classic vinaigrette. Lots of vitamin C, fiber, protein, good carbs. Someone else posted this recently so it made me go back and revisit this book. Those who know me are aware that I LOVE chicken and in particular roast chicken. And this is as simple as it gets. Salt, pepper, olive oil and ground fennel season the outside of the bird. Fresh oregano in the cavity and halved heads of garlic, tomatoes, oregano and butter in the pan. 🌟 MONDAY 8TH APRIL 🌟 Homemade Chicken Pie (made with love!), Garlic & Herb Mash, Yorkshire Puddings and Mixed Veg 💖 Everything from @asda - I used their everyday value tinned chicken in sauce to fill the pies and added peas as well, then used shortcrust pastry in glass dessert bowls which I kept from some Lidl puddings! These turned out much better than shop bought pies as they were oozing with filling! A much cheaper alternative so I highly recommend. Also, I just used a steak knife to carve the heart shape... Nothing fancy! And my son absolutely loved it, he didn't want to eat the heart so he took the top off the pie to "keep" 🙈 so sweet, but also gross! Schokoladentorte 🍫 Zutaten: Biskuit 200g Zartbitter-Schokolade 200g Butter 100g Wasser 250g Weizenmehl 25g Kakaopulver 180g brauner Zucker 180g Zucker 3 Eier 80g Crème fraîche Creme und Fertigstellung 200g Zartbitter-Schokolade 200g Butter 200g Puderzucker Zubereitung: Biskuit 1. Backofen auf 170°C vorheizen. 2 Springformen (Ø 20 cm) mit Backpapier auslegen und zur Seite stellen. 2. Schokolade zerkleinern, Butter und Wasser zugeben und schmelzen. 3. Mehl, Kakao, braunen Zucker, Zucker, Eier und Crème fraîche zugeben und vermischen. 4. Teig gleichmäßig auf die beiden vorbereiteten Springformen verteilen und beide Biskuitböden gleichzeitig 35-40 Minuten (170°C) backen. 5. Backformen aus dem Ofen nehmen und 10 Minuten abkühlen lassen, danach die Ringe der Springformen entfernen und Biskuit komplett auskühlen lassen. Creme und Fertigstellung 6. Schokolade zerkleinern, schmelzen und einmal umrühren. 7. Butter und Puderzucker unter die Schokolade rühren. 8. Einen Biskuitboden auf einen Teller stellen und mit ca. ⅓ der Schokoladencreme bestreichen. Zweiten Biskuitboden daraufsetzen, Torte von außen gleichmäßig mit der restlichen Schokoladencreme einstreichen, nach Wunsch verzieren und 1 Stunde kaltstellen.
