The picture book is based on the classic rabbit–duck illusion that is over 100 years old. It is an ambiguous image in which a rabbit or a duck can be seen. 🦆 🐇 The story follows two kids as they debate whether they see a picture of a duck or a rabbit and then leave it up to the listener to decide. 🦆 🐇 In LSL therapy, I introduce the concept of opinions and how to be persuasive. You’ve likely heard about GLP-1 agonist drugs like Ozempic and Wegovt being beneficial for people with diabetes and obesity, but have you heard that Lixisenatide (a “relative” of Ozempic) may be helpful to people with Parkinson’s disease? Every week I share information that I have learned in the @medslp_collective Facebook group. This information was so interesting to me that I wanted to share it here too. The studies have been small and limited but have shown less progression in participants taking Lixisenatide than those taking a placebo. Check out the promising findings from a few small studies. Something I want you to realise is this… We are NOT going to get it ‘right’ straight away. Why? Because we need the whole picture. We are going to need to watch them, ask questions and get curious. We need to offer different tools and strategies to find the best outcome. It’s no different for us as adults and professionals. For example, when it comes to calming and grounding ourselves, we try different things to see what works best. For some adults, meditation may work perfectly, however for others they need to sweat it out as meditation gives them more time to overthink and stress. So we need to let our kiddos have a play with the tools to understand how they respond. For one of my kiddos, to ground them and add more calm to their body, they just need to sit on the floor. For another kiddo though, this results in overstimulation.
