Cat Ba // Day 5 April 28 . This morning was our first joint shift! We worked together on the morning shift from 7am-12pm and it was so fun. We already know we work well together, so our shift had a nice flow to it. It was a bit busy but manageable. We’ve discovered we both quite like the early shift because then we have the whole day to do whatever! We finished at 12 pm - sweaty and dreaming about swimming in the pool 20m away. After a quick lunch we went swimming! We played some games in the pool and met some lovely French people who are actually exchange students in Seoul at the moment! It felt like a little piece of home to talk about familiar places and South Korea. After the pool, we relaxed on the day beds and did some reading, chatting, and drawing. Rae made a banging chocolate/PB/banana smoothie as a snack before dinner, and we just relaxed! We were trying to get on a boat tour tomorrow, but they are all full! BUTTT, the owner of the hostel squeezed us into an evening plankton boat tour! So tomorrow evening, we’re going to see the bioluminescent plankton!! We are very excited. The kitchen staff has been making us delicious vegetarian meals as our staff meal and today we got delivered some amaaazing curry and rice poolside. We ate until we were stufffffffed. Then, we played Rummy with our friends Zee and Scott, followed by a round of pool. We have the next 2 days off, so we decided to go out to a bar tonight! We shared a motorbike and rode into town with our friends Zee and Simone to a popular place called Oasis. We had a beer and tried the infamous balloons. They were a good time, hahaha. After a few hours, we headed back to the hostel and went to bed pretty quickly. Tik daudz kas vēl jāpaspēj! Tieši visādi sīkumi palikuši. Paldies Dievam, vismaz Merkūrs vairs nav retrogrādā! Ha-ha! Šorīt bijām aizdevušies apskatīt kaimiņu māju, kas atrodas pāri ielejai pretējā kalna nogāzē. Bija jāsaprot, kādā stāvoklī tā ir un vai varēs tur pārlaist nākamo nedēļu.Tur gan nav elektrības un, iespējams, ka ieplānoto Otrdienas Tiešo Ēteru un mandalu kursa nodarbību Ceturtdien nāksies pārcelt. (kaut gan…ir varianti!) Un ūdens tur nākot no dziļurbuma bez filtriem…Dušai derēšot, bet kafijai gan nē! (Garām ejot redzēju pusapdegušo un sadegušo iedzīvi no pērnā, 3 gadus atpakaļ, mežu ugunsgrēka) Mierinu Gaismu: gan jau viss būs labi! Kas ir viena nedēļa Mūžības priekšā! Uz Suņu Hoteli vienalga vajadzēs 2x dienā iet un suņudraugus vest pastaigās. Tad arī padzersimies! Kriss šorīt aizbrauca. Atvadījāmies kā labi draugi un solījāmies nepazaudēties. viņš labprāt gribētu apciemot Latviju vai pabūt Gruzijā…Un viņa sapnis esot piedzīvot īstus Skandināvijas Ziemassvētkus un savām acīm redzēt īstu Ziemeļblāzmu. Brrr… Par Ziemeļiem nu gan es nesapņoju! Man, lūdzu, vairāk Saules! Vispār jāsaka, ka kaut kā māja uzreiz likās tāda kā tukšāka… Pietrūka viņa vienmēr pārspīlētās laipnības un ekstra pozitīvisma: “Thank You SO MUCH!” vai “Great! Es gribēju māju laukos? Lūdzu! kas teica, ka tai jābūt Latvijā un personīgai? Ir Potugālē! Es fantazēju par to kā būtu, ja vismaz reizi nedēļā aizbrauktu uz Juglas suņu patversmi izstaidzināt suņus? Lūdzu! Suņu Hotelis Portugāles laukos! un tā droši vien varētu turpināt… Varbūt patiešām jāuzraksta sarakstiņš PATEICĪBĀ par faktiem, kas manā dzīvē notikuši, materializējoties DOMAI? Cat Ba // Day 4 April 27 . Today, Rae had the morning shift and Bex the midday shift. The hostel was fully booked, so breakfast was a bit busier than usual, but Rae had our new friend Scott's help on the bar, so it was all ok. It's been so lovely to meet the other volunteers like Scott here. They are all so sweet and welcoming. Then, once Rae and Scott finished, Bex started their shift. The middle of the day is usually pretty chill with lots of people out during the day and the kitchen being closed from 2 till 4. It makes for a relaxed shift. So Bex mostly cleaned and danced around, as well as making some drinks. Rae went out on a bike to the nearby national park for the afternoon with a couple of people we met here. She had a wonderful day, though she felt tired. She saw lots of beautiful scenery, did a little hike, and even went into a huge cave! Of course, she took advantage of the echo and sang opera in it, hehehe. Then Rae had a bit of a dramatic turn of events on the way home because her motorbike ran out of gas mid-drive. She managed to flag down some locals to help - and 150,000đ spent, 1 angry old man and quite a bit of panic later, she made it back. Bex was already chilling by the pool, so Rae joined them for a while. Then we ate dinner and hung out some more before Bex retired to bed, and Rae stayed hanging out for a few hours. She ended up singing with some of the guests and other workawayers by the pool. How wonderful! So we have a lot of peas this year 🤩 We are going to blanch them before freezing to preserve their bright green colour and prevent them from turning to mush when cooked afterwards. 1️⃣ Bring water to boil 2️⃣ Fill a large bowl with ice and set aside 3️⃣ Boil the peas for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, just until crisp tender 4️⃣ Cool the peas in the ice water to stop the cooking process 5️⃣ Drain the peas and spread them in a single layer (on a tray, for instance) to freeze - this prevents from stick to each other 6️⃣ After freezing them for one hour, you can put them in freezer friendly bags and then back in the freezer. Consider freezing individual portions to make it easier to use them later 😊 Enjoy peas season. Tschüss, Dog Temple! (Goa, Indien) 🐕🐕🐕 Drei Wochen habe ich dort als Volontärin verbracht. Es handelt sich um ein Zuhause für ca. 60 Hunde, die in vier Rudeln auf einem großen Gelände direkt am Strand leben. Palmen statt Zwinger. 🌴 Die Hunde sind durch die liebevolle und artgerechte Haltung ausgesprochen ruhig, anhänglich und ausgeglichen. Einige von ihnen werde ich sehr vermissen: ich verbrachte viel Zeit (und Nächte) mit der wunderschönen indischen Windhündin Agny und der süßen Falafel. Vielleicht sehen wir uns wieder! Goa ist nicht unbedingt mein Reiseziel, obwohl die historischen Städte recht monumental sind, UNESCO Weltkulturerbe usw. Kultur spielt trotzdem in Goa keine große Rolle. Ich bin seit Freitag in Jaipur und schon ziemlich verliebt in die “pink City”. この間の金曜日。。 3週間ちょっとここに居てくれたオーストラリアから来た子のお別れ会でしたー🥺 彼は日本の食べ物が大好きなので、たこ焼きと、いろんな食べ物をいっぱい😁 景品付きのダーツゲームもやって盛り上がったりー🎯 本当に彼は何者なんだ？と思うくらいに何でも出来て、倉庫に置きっぱなしになっていた道具を色々見つけ出しては、私達にもよくわからない使い方で、全部使いこなして作業をしてくれました！ 汚かった倉庫を二つも綺麗にしてくれて、壁を全部貼り直し、手作りの木のフックを作り、木のクローゼットにもしてくれて。。 新しいガレージに生まれ変わらせてくれました❣️ そして、ヤギ牧場の新たなプロジェクトも最後のギリギリまで手伝ってくれて、2日間である程度の基礎からドアまでつけてくれて。。 本当に驚きの速さと、綿密に考えてくれる丁寧さで、 どんどん仕上げてくれました🙇♀️💕 将来は自分で家を作るのが夢らしく、沢山のリノベーションの知識があって、音楽作れて、ギターが弾けて、プログラミングも出来て、よく気がついて優しくて。。 そんな若干23歳。。 本当に、将来が楽しみだなーと、まるで息子の様に思いながら送り出しましたー💕 いつでもまた帰ってきてねー😊 Thank you soooo much cullen❣️ always,we are wait here. 27.04.2024. Voluntiera dienasgrāmata. 21.diena Šodien ir pagājušas tieši 3 nedēļas kopš ierados “Casa Gaisma”. Un šodien ir Krisam (otram voluntierim) Dzimšanas diena. Nolēmu pagatavot viņām dāvanu - uzģenerēt viņā Dzimšanas dienas GAISMAS MANDALU. Domāts - darīts! Sarunāju ar Gaismu, ka viņa izdrukās uz paīra, lai varam svinīgi pie pusdienām pasniegt. Pēc dienas darbiem, kad sēdāmies pie galda, nodziedājām “Daudz baltu dieniņu”, uzdāvinājām mandalu, Gaisma un Jorgs bija parūpējušies par tortīti ar 1 svecīti (jo 41!) … Mīlīgi! Vakars noslēdzās ar Taro izlikumu no Krisa puses pateicībā par svētku sajūtu. Savukārt Gaisma veica “meditatīvo rakstīšanu” . Interesanti! Re,kā! Ne velti saka, ka “līdzīgs ar līdzīgu pievelkas”. Visā šai kontekstā mani šodien laikam visvairāk pārsteidza Gaismas jautājums, kad viņa palūdza ievilkt segas konvertos un pajautāja, vai es mācēšu to izdarīt? Es amulsu, lai neteiktu,ka apstulbu. Un varēju vien atbildēt: protams, ka jā! Pēc tam velkot segas tais konvertos, pie sevis domāju: NOPIETNI?!?! Vai tiešām kāds nemāk to izdarīt? Piefiksēju, ka manī nebija nedz aizvainojuma par neuzticēšanos, nedz pārākuma par nevainojamu mācēšanu, nedz tieksmes izpatikt vai pierādīt kautko… Opā! Re! “Varu uzsist sev uz pleca!” Mācībstunda izieta. Ak,jā! Šovakar bija pēdējais vakars visiem kopā. Rīt Kriss dodas uz nākamo vietu Lagosu, pēc tam uz Turciju, tad vēl kaut kur… Viņam jāpaspēj 3 mēnešos apceļot Eiropa, jo viņš tak’ ir no Austrālijas! #WorkAway

Cat Ba // Day 3 April 26 . Today, we had our first real shifts at the cafe! We were excited and nervous. Bex had the morning shift from 7am-12pm, and Rae had the evening shift of 5pm-10pm. Overall, it went well! Everyone has been really kind and helpful. It’s so fun to meet people from all over the world here and put some love into their drinks. We are making all sorts of things... such as smoothies, cocktails, Vietnamese coffees, fruit juices, and teas. It’s fun! It’s been the best bits of the service industry so far. Though 5 hours can feel long at times when you are continuously sweating. During our 5-hour shared break, we went for a swim in the pool and played with a SUP board with some other guests trying to surf across the pool and make little games out of it. We also used the (free!) motorbikes to go to the beach nearby for a few hours! It was dreammmyyyyy. You can see the bits of mountains and there was plennnty of swimming water - pretty clean too! We enjoyed a coconut (shock) and hung out with some guests from the hostel. At 5pm, Rae came back to do her first shift! Bex took their time coming back, and then kept Rae company during most of her shift. It was quite busy, actually. Another guest kept Rae company too - a 10-year-old German girl named Lily! Towards the end, Bex went to help our manager move to and clean her new house. It was actually quite fun (and sweaty… shock), and it was nice to spend time with the other volunteers over some beers. We finished the day hanging out by the pool with the volunteers, then hanging out just the two of us. It was nice and romantic. We had a cheeky dip in the pool in our clothes before heading to bed for the night - because Rae works at 7am, eeek! Farmaření na jihu 4️⃣ Boudo, budko, kdo v tobě přebývá? Už víte, že zahradničím, ale ještě pořádně nevíte, jak vypadá můj příbytek. Jdu to napravit. Tento kamenný domek s vnitřním půdorysem zhruba 3x4 metry je jednou z původních staveb, jenž na pozemku byly když Javier před 6 lety farmu koupil. Velký dům, ve kterém teď sám přebývá byla jen ruina a původní majitel přespával právě v tomto malém domku. O pozemek se příliš nestaral, takže uvést jej do současného stavu stálo mnoho úsilí. První dva roky po nastěhování Javier bydlel v karavanu a opravoval dům. Když byl jeho současný příbytek konečně obyvatelný, přesunul se tam a malý domek postupně přizpůsobil pro dobrovolníky. No a teď jsem tedy já. Řeknu vám, že bych tu klidně zůstala i na trvalo. Můžu si vybrat, na které ze dvou postelí spát, mám tu i pracovní koutek a krásný výhled do zahrady. Společnost mi chvílemi dělá černobílý bezpečnostní systém u dveří. Někdy ale čumák v podpaží nepotřebuji, tak jí hodím šišku a Zorya běží…😁 Elektřina sem putuje kabelem ze sluníčka a signál je dost silný na mobilní data. Jen tekoucí voda tady není, pouze barel, který je potřeba jednou za čas doplnit. While volunteering with AMRIS I was able to learn about MAM culture and contribute in this incredible project to support women in Mayan communities. It was an emotional week that gave me the opportunity to learn about so much more than I could have by simply traveling-thank you AMRIS! Cannes in a day... 1. The main square near the port - actually quite nice, lovely restaurants and chilled vibes. 2. Had to buy lacey a hat so her head doesn't burn 🤣 3. Nice walk up to the church but quite busy with tourists 4. Nice port but nothing mindblowing. 5. Marche de fortville - quirky market selling vintage clothes n stuff but unfortunately was packing up when we got there. 6. Overall, restaurants quite expensive and felt everywhere looked tired apart from main square and the church. Managed to find a lovely little bistro for scrambled eggs with truffle and a decent coffee 👌 7. Rue d antibes - OK for shopping I suppose but nothing spectacular 8. Cat Ba // Day 2 April 25 . Our first day learning the ropes at our new workaway. We had a lazy start to the day and woke up slowly. Then we relaxed by the pool for a while before getting some food. It feels so refreshing to wake up and be in such a beautiful location surrounded by kind and caring people. The pool is so beautiful too! We had training today on the bar with our new manager/friend Zee. We started once we finished eating 2 yummy vegan burgers, and she taught us everything. She went through the layout of the bar, and we got to try making some drinks like Vietnamese coffee, coconut coffee, and smoothies. It was really fun to be back behind a bar again. Both of us worked in hospitality in the past and realized we really missed it! It's nice to do a job that is so sociable and the place is quite relaxed so it's not much pressure too. We loved it! We can play whatever music we want while we work as well, so we put on all the favorites of the moment and jammed out. When we were done, we went for a swim in the pool and made up some fun games to play together. Then we relaxed by the pool again, and Bex drew while Rae made some new friends. We just rested and ate dinner with all the other volunteers before playing a game of pool, Bex won! Then we played some music together and sang by the pool for a while which was so lovely. We chatted and then headed to bed, Bex has the early shift tomorrow, so we tried to get a good night's sleep! With this weeks arrival of the first volunteers of this season I am of course reminiscing about last years volunteers. Since our instagram page didn’t exist back then y’all missed out on a lot of things that happened in Bognago! So here I am with a volunteer appreciation post, shining a little light on the first team I had the pleasure of hosting in the fall of 2023. They set a great standard for the future of this project; not just as volunteers but also as people. And I want to thank everyone again, for being here, for sharing that experience with me, for giving me the opportunity to grow as a person and as a leader; to show me what was actually possible, and help the vision for this project to crystallise into something that I can now clearly shout out into the universe. 🇨🇱 J514 / Torres del Paine Tellement heureuse de découvrir les fameuses tours du parc Torres del Paine. D'autant plus que la rando était magique avec ses couleurs de l'automne. Après tout ce temps au Chili, il était hors de question de ne pas aller voir cet incontournable du pays. Mes amis chiliens m'ont tellement parlé de cet endroit. Infos pratiques: - ⛺ La randonnée des tours fait partie des treks W et O, mais c'est aussi possible de faire cette portion à la journée. Pour les treks il est nécessaire de prévoir le budget, le matériel et les réservations en amont. - 🏔️ Les infos ci-dessous sont pour la rando à la journée. - 💲L'entrée au parc national est de 31 200 CL pour moins de 3 jours, à réserver en ligne sur https://www.pasesparques.cl - 🚌 Si vous n'avez pas de véhicule, possibilité de prendre le bus avec la compagnie Bus Sur, depart 6h45 du matin et bus retour à 20h15. (Il y a d'autres compagnies). Pensez à réserver les bus affichent facilement complet. - 🚩 Pour cette rando, réservez le bus jusqu'à l'arrêt laguna Amarga. - 🚐 En réalité, le bus vous dépose à l'entrée principale du secteur, et ensuite il faut payer une navette 8000 CL pour l'aller retour (c'est bien 20min de route). - 👟 Une fois arrivée avec la navette, la rando peut commencer. Environ 22km avec 1000m de dénivelé, ça monte et ça descends bien. - ⏰ Comptez entre 6 et 8h de marche. - 🎒 Les bâtons sont très utiles, pas besoin de transporter trop deau, il y a possibilité d'en récupérer très facilement tout le long du chemin dans les cours d'eau. - 😱 C'est quand même une très grosse journée de marche et l'inconvénient c'est que ce n'est pas une boucle, mais un aller-retour. C'est un peu long sur la fin. - ❤️ Pour ceux qui ne font pas les treks, c'est une très belle alternative. - 🚗 Il est aussi possible de louer une voiture pour passer une journée dans le parc ou de prendre un bateau pour aller voir le glacier Grey. In geological terms, Milos Island is a new landmass. Only 3.5 million years ago it was no more than a volcanic dome in a shallow sea. Successive eruptions brought the island to the surface and expanded to 55 square kilometres of jagged and colourful rocks and cliffs. This hike was an up-close look at how far the island has come and where it came from. The massive crater is now a gently sloping field of wildflowers over 1.5 kilometres long. The rim is peppered with steaming hot sulphur riddled vents. Finally, there is a sweeping view of the rocky coast line adored by sultry secluded beaches along the Mediterranean shore. This hike was easy with high yield rewards. 畑仲間を募集しています🌏 静岡の山間地に通いで来れる方 国内でワークアウェイや旅をされている方 (できれば日本語できる方) (詳しくはお話し合いで) ホームスクーリング中の親子さん 就活中の方など . . . 2年ほど前に借りた畑 生き物の存在が少なく トゲトゲした葉が茂っていましたが 少しずつ手を入れ今年の春から 生えてきてほしい草花たちが芽吹き始めました。 眠っていた種たち おはよう 出てきてくれてありがとう 今年は大豆の収穫にリベンジしたい 梅雨明け頃に種まき予定です その前に電柵も張らなくちゃ (獣が多いのです) 電柵のない畑に植えるとあっというまに 鹿や猿たちが食べてしまうので 今年も夏野菜は犬たちのそばで鉢植えに 写真で分かる通りまだまだ畑初心者です 昨年ぼかしを作り、藍の葉を収穫し、 薪ストーブから出た灰や炭を使い 山の掃除ついでに枯れ枝や落ち葉を使い 日々の食材の余りでコンポストを作り 側溝掃除の時の泥砂をバケツにためておいたものも再利用できた昨日はとても嬉しかった。 土のこと、大地のこと、栄養のこと、 少しずつわかってきたような気がします。 今年は植物や土の声を聞きながら じっくり向き合えそうな自分が育っているのを感じています。 ようやくここまでこれたので 畑仲間募集します😉 面識のある方もない方も 一緒にやりたいよと思った方 いらっしゃいましたらご連絡ください😊 #畑仲間募集 #オクシズ #移住 #古民家暮らし #山暮らし #静岡 #ワークアウェイ #workaway #workawayer

Voluntiera dienasgrāmata 18.diena (3.daļa) Odemira atrodas apmēram 45 km no "Casa Gaisma" Vēsturiski šim reģionam esot bijusi svarīga loma "Neļķu revolūcijā", tāpēc 290 tk euro budžets valsts svētku organizēšanai nevienu neizbrīnīja. Ļaužu tiešām daudz. Mašīnu noparkot grūti, bet iespējami. Vecpilsētā visas ielas slēgtas un tur daudz mazu skatuvīšu, ēstuvju, izlejamā alus tirgotavu, karuseļi, bērnu uzpūšamās roraļlietas, baloni, un amatnieku darinājumi... Ieradāmies mēs ap pusdesmitiem un līdz pusnaktij, kad paredzēta uguņošana, laiks bija izstaigāt nezināmā scenārija aktivitāšu vietas. Piemēram, kādā laukumiņā uzstājās cirkus akrobāte, žonglējot ar uguņojošām nūjām. Kad meitene, beidza savu uzstāšanos, visa tauta kā vienota upe itkā zinādama savu straumes vektoru starp māju sienām plūda mierīgā plūsmā uz nākamo IZRĀDI. Tur bija Fadu dziedājumi. Skaisti. Smeldzīgi un depresīvi. Virs jumtu korēm PILNMĒNESS... Nu, nepatīk man šādi masu pasākumi! Varbūt tāpēc, ka gana daudz esmu strādājus backstage (aizskatuvē)?! Varbūt tāpēc, ka nelietoju alkoholu kā daudzi visapkārt un noskaņojums man bija drīzāk kā vērotājai no malas ne kā svētku aktīvai dalībniecei un naktsdzīves baudītājai. Vai tiešām es kļūstu "veca"? Vai tās frekvences, kurās virmoja pilsēta, bija pretrunā ar Jauno Pasauli - Jauno Zemi? Pārdomu vērts bija arī pats salūts, kas ilga apmēram 10 min. Mēs atradām vietu amfiteātrī kalna galā, atspiedāmies pie sienas uz augšējās platformas un, protams, pārsteidzošs bija 3D efekts, jo zalves bija no dažādām vietām un burtiski "nāca" virsū. Plus nežēlīgi pārsteidzoša sajūta uguņošanas beigās, kad šāva kā no ložmetēja... Un mēs piespiedušās pie sienas... "Uzpeldēja" kaut kādas ainiņas no iepriekšējām dzīvēm... Czy Formentera jest tak mała, że nie ma tutaj miejsca na spacery? Zdecydowanie jest wystarczająca, żeby odbywać wiele spacerów w dodatku w otoczeniu samych pięknych krajobrazów! Wczoraj wybraliśmy się na wycieczkę w kierunku małej, pięknej i nieco tajemniczej plaży, do Calò d’Es Mort. Jest to piękna, malutka plaża położona pomiędzy skałami. Naszą wycieczkę odbyliśmy pieszo. Mieszkamy w sumie nie daleko 😉 Najpierw wzdłuż plaż a następnie skręciliśmy na szlak. W jedną stronę szliśmy około 1,5 godziny, ponieważ często zatrzymywaliśmy się zrobić zdjęcia, pooglądać rybki czy pozbierać nowe muszelki 📷🐠🐡🐚 W drugą jednak stronę było nam nieco zimno (ostatnie 3 dni są tutaj nieco chłodniejsze) więc udało nam się wrócić w około 40 minut Jeśli chodzi o szlaki, jest ich tutaj kilka. Są cudownie położone. Widoki są wspaniałe, a ścieżki na prawdę dobrze przygotowane pod wędrówki, bieganie czy dla rowerów. Serdecznie polecamy Wam spacery po tej cudownej, rajskiej wyspie. Essa sou eu embarcando para a realização de vários sonhos e para mais uma das aventuras da vida. ✨ A segunda foto com os olhos de emoção , não negam. 🥹 Quantas coisas cabem em uma passagem de avião? Eu estava atravessando o oceano atlântico, indo pela pela primeira vez para a Europa, morar na Itália, onde teria a experiência de fazer um voluntariado, conhecendo uma nova cultura e idioma, enquanto faria o reconhecimento da cidadania italiana. Morar em outro país pode parecer algo incrível, um sucesso, para muitas pessoas. E é!!! Nossa percepção de mundo cresce, conhecemos e aprendemos tantas coisas novas, lugares, vivenciamos várias "primeiras vezes" no cotidiano. E não é atoa quando se usa a palavra aventura para quem vivencia essa experiência. Eu não escolhi as fotos mais instagramáveis (hahaha) para esse post porque quero compartilhar um outro lado sobre viver e ser imigrante em outro país, e cada fotinha representa um momento que ficou marcado para mim (poderia colocar muitas outras mais). Toda aventura tem suas pedras no caminho, e são elas quem dão o nome para tal. Decidir imigrar para outro país, independente do tempo que se pretende ficar, pede muito planejamento e preparo, financeiro, moradia, trabalho, aprender o novo idioma, saúde, vistos e burocracias mil. Algo que aprendi na minha experiência para além dos planos feitos por um pouco mais de dois anos, foi sobre as coisas que são imprevisíveis. E aqui falo do preparo e cuidado emocional e da saúde mental. É longa a lista de sentimentos e emoções que compõem diariamente a vida de quem mora fora.
