Did You Know... in the heart of Gogledd Cymru, nestled within Eryri, lies the enchanting village of Beddgelert. This idyllic location is not only known for its stunning scenery but also for a heartwarming legend. A local, fictional tale (which likely began with an innkeeper looking for a story to lure customers in) suggests Beddgelert is the final resting place of Gelert, a faithful hound belonging to the medieval Welsh King Llywelyn the Great (who unlike the story, of course, was very much real). The legend tells of Gelert's tragic demise, wrongly accused of harming the prince's son, only for Llywelyn to discover the true culprit and grieve over Gelert's grave. Nice to be warm on the mountains again 🥰🥰 a couple of years back I tried hebog solo after doing siabod the day before solo. They were both new mountains to me at the time and I was new to navigating myself solo. Hebog was covered in cloud and as I was near the summit, looking at the rock face to the right of me, it was super sheer and i thought that’s what I was climbing myself into. Fear took over of my abilities and I decided to quit. Since then I’ve been up twice (not solo) I don’t regret my decision at the time, I’m glad I had the sense to turn around when unsure. It’s not as bad as I worked myself out to think, amazing when you have no sight of what’s ahead how it can make you uneasy.
