Se hicieron especialmente conocidos por este, su segundo álbum, "The Infamous" que ha cumplido hace unos días 29 años, (25/4/1995). Havoc y Prodigy se conocieron en el prestigioso instituto de Arte y Diseño de Manhattan. Creciendo en entornos hostiles, marcados por la pobreza, las drogas y la violencia de las bandas callejeras, el grupo intentó expresar sus experiencias vitales a través del rap. En este momento el rap de la Costa Este estaba dominado por el jazz-rap de A Tribe Called Quest y De La Soul, y los estilos afro-céntricos de Brand Nubian y Public Enemy.
