#Multipolarity is essentially nation-state led, and still premised upon an extractive economic narrative of growth. Except that there are now more contenders for the world's resources and for power. Nonetheless, a move towards multipolarity from a #hegemonic world order led by the USA and its western allies is a move towards de-westernization. #Pluriversality, a term used by the Zapatistas to express their own decolonial vision of a world, goes beyond isms, ideologies, and state-led power structures, and speaks about a 'world where many worlds fit'. It is this vision of a pluriverse that, I believe, hold the seeds of a #regenerative world order. The seeds are already visible in the marches and movements dotting the planet today--from those calling for a #ceasefireingaza to the #farmesprotests in India. In spite of their apparently discrete and different causes, they all have certain foundational principles that run like a common thread weaving them together. They are in the service of a life-affirming #civilization where dignity, grace, justice, and equity for all sentient beings are not seen as an exception but is the norm.

Hegemony by @hegemonic_project_games is not an easy game to setup. There are numerous steps both for the main board and the player boards. It can be daunting even to those familiar with the game. Thankfully there is an officially licensed insert designed by @gamemakereu that makes this process so much simpler. This 3d printed insert does an admirable job of being both functional and aesthetically pleasing. It organizes the game in a way to group together the major items. The trays are easy to remove and distribute and because they are so modular you can arrange them around the table in whatever configuration that makes the most sense. This is an important benefit considering how much table real estate this game demands. The color and shapes of the trays are fantastic. The bottoms are engraved with iconography inside which is a nice touch but turns out to be less beneficial than it at first seems due to the components covering up the detail. The card holders are great if you decide to sleeve but if not sleeved, you can end up with extra space to contend with. I used the fabric draw bag as a buffer in this space and it helps a lot. I do wish there had been dividers included to keep all the categories of cards separate. I think publisher has some they released for at home print and play though. I also wish the Game Maker had included some sort of guide as to how they recommend sorting the components. Some of it is obvious but I found myself referring to the photos posted online as the only source of what was meant to go where. In summary, I think it's a good insert for anyone looking to make it easier to get Hegemony to their table. Thanks to @gamemakereu for sending this insert for review!

Korean companies are on track to reduce reliance on China and increase investment in other Asian markets, in attempts to minimize potential losses from the escalating hegemonic struggle between the U.S. and the world's second-largest economy. Industry watchers and experts said Korean firms have no choice but to adopt a long-term exit strategy from China and gradually cut huge export reliance on the country, as the global hegemonic conflict is showing little sign of abating as Beijing moves toward a closed economy. Recent data from Seoul's trade ministry also showed that the number of Korean firms that established new branches in China fell by 12.1 percent to 87 during the first half of this year from the previous year. The figure in the Japanese market soared to 118 during the same period. This marked the first time since 1989 that the number in Japan outpaced that of China. Hegemony - A simulation of, well, the world. Hegemony is an asymmetric game where players pick and lead the Working Class, Middle Class, Capitalist, or the State trying to govern together in one of the most thematic and interactive Eurogames I’ve ever played. Reminiscent of a Lacerda game (and, to an extent, Root), players take turns playing a single card to take an action, but that’s where the simplicity ends. Each class has different actions, ways to score, and their own unique deck all built around what you would expect. The Working Class is trying to find jobs for their people and make them happy, the Capitalist is trying to maximize their revenue, the State is trying to appease everyone, while the Middle Class is, well, stuck in the middle. The brilliance of Hegemony lies in the central policies (Fiscal, Labor, Taxation, Healthcare, Education, Trade, and Immigration) that effect each class greatly. If someone proposes a new policy, players go around voting to enact the change. For example, the Working Class proposes the bill for free healthcare from the State, but if healthcare is too cheap, the Capitalist can’t make any money. Also, if healthcare is completely free the State doesn’t get any money and might go bankrupt. The Middle Class also wants free healthcare, but if it’s free that means they can’t sell their own… you get my point. My favorite moment was when I (Working Class) was threatening to leave the companies of the Capitalists if they ever lowered their wages. On their final turn, a huge grin appeared on the Capitalists face. She realized she could lower her wages as her last action because I had no more turns left to take. Where I’m at on #Ukraine right now. As tragic as the scenes are from the country, I think this is a good time for #reflection and #politicaleducation regarding our own country. For me, it’s incredibly #frustrating to see so many people who, through no fault of their own, are ignorant of the West’s #history and current reality as a #hegemonic (ruling or dominant) #imperialist force. The #USA and its #allies have an absolutely abysmal record of doing exactly what #Putin is doing in Ukraine to poor countries #aroundtheworld. In our lifetime, countries like #Iraq, #Afghanistan, #Libya, and #Yemen have been on the receiving end of our county’s interventions. In #Palestine, we act as bodyguards for the Israeli government as they continue their assault on the people of #Gaza and their #occupation of Palestinian land in the #WestBank. And the #instability that many countries in #LatinAmerica face today can be directly attributed to our meddling in their affairs throughout the 20th century and beyond. In short, if you are #angry or #disgusted by what is happening to the people of Ukraine, good. You should be.
