THE ELEPHANT MAN was the one David Lynch movie that has evaded me for a minute. I remember growing up and being scared of the visuals (which in retrospect makes sense), but growing up (and finally watching it) is realizing this is actual quite a beautiful and poignant tale.

I watched this one not too long ago on my 4K blu-ray but it feels fantastic to see it again in theaters! The movie has returned to theaters to not only celebrate Alien Day but also because it’s the films 45th Anniversary! What makes this showing even more special is not only am I getting to see it again in theaters with my girlfriend, Emily but this is also her first time seeing the movie ever! I told her that she is in for a good time because this is one of the greatest sci-fi / horror movies of all-time and is meant to be seen on the big screen! Can’t wait to see what she thinks of it, I’m super excited! Incredible. Still a jaw-dropping masterpiece. Ridley Scott’s @alienanthology will celebrate its 45th anniversary this year and yet it still holds up on the big screen as one of the greatest achievements in filmmaking. It was an absolute privilege to see this in a theater for the first time. Even though I’ve seen Alien countless times at home, I’ve never seen it in a theater and now I truly understand why audience members left the premiere screaming. This was one of the most claustrophobic experiences I’ve ever had at the movies and I’m not a claustrophobic person. The film is just that intense. As I was watching it, I completely forgot that I knew what was going to happen next and was completely immersed in this terrifying world. Seeing H. R. Giger’s iconic and horrifying designs up on the big screen alone was worth the price of admission. Ridley Scott was and will always be a master of cinema & that fact is already evident in “Alien”. It’s hard to imagine that this film is from 1979. 45 years later, it’s still impressively modern & contemporary. I’m confident that if this was released today, it would be a huge hit. And Sigourney Weaver... Do I need to say any more? What an absolute legend. Ripley is one of the greatest film characters ever put to screen and her performance is simply extraordinary. Watching her fight off one of the scariest movie monsters will always be a hallmark of cinema. “Alien” has inspired me ever since I first saw it, so to have finally watched it on the big screen was special beyond words. Experiencing it in theaters only proves the film’s longevity and status as a masterpiece of not just science-fiction, but cinema in general. Alien. Arte. Ridley Scott. 1979. Sinopsis De regreso a la Tierra, la nave de carga Nostromo interrumpe su viaje y despierta a sus siete tripulantes. El ordenador central, MADRE, ha detectado la misteriosa transmisión de una forma de vida desconocida, procedente de un planeta cercano aparentemente deshabitado. La nave se dirige entonces al extraño planeta para investigar el origen de la comunicación. (FILMAFFINITY) Opinión: No puedo ser imparcial con esta saga, es sin duda mi favorita de terror. Me gustan todas las que han hecho, todas! Pero alien: el octavo pasajero, es sublime. La banda sonora de Jerry Goldsmith es insustituible e inigualable. Los planos secuencia de la Nostromo son pura delicia. Las escenas de tensión de principio a fin son puro comerse las uñas. Los diseños de H.R. Giger construyen una base sólida que establece el 'lore' para el resto de saga, entre otras cosas. El androide (Ash), el gato, la mano de obra quejica, los vapores que emanan los conductos de la nave, la saliva ácida (cuidado con besarle 🤪)del alien, los huevos, el final... todo encaja en un puzzle de horror fílmico que en el 79 marcó para siempre una epopeya cinematográfica de las que quitan el hipo. Podría estar hablando días de este film, pero no me da la vida para tanto 😁. Nota: 10/10.
