FDA has approved AstraZeneca and Avillion's pressurized, metered-dose inhaler that administers a fixed dose of albuterol and budesonide (Airsupra) for individuals age 18 years and older. Advocacy Update! We learned in August that most school districts require CPR training for Extended Day (ED) programs, however, there are NO requirements or policies for epinephrine or rescue inhaler devices therefore many do not train their staff due to “liability issues.” Even worse, some ED programs do not even inform parents that their child will not get their emergency medications if needed, they will just call 911. This is a dangerous oversight and we believe there should be policy to require training for all ED programs to make emergency care the standard, not the exception. There are no federal policies as schools get funding from the state. There are no state policies in FL (and probably not in any other states). After 2 months of demanding change, the local school district @ocps_official is now looking into their contracts with ED programs to see what can be done, and we will keep you posted! Please make sure you ALWAYS VERIFY who will be giving your child emergency care if needed when they are not with you. An overview of the medications that I give my daughter everyday for her asthma and allergies. 🤍🎗 1. The spacer that I use to put her daily and rescue inhalers in to give her treatments every morning and night. 2. Flovent (the daily inhaler that’s orange): I give her one puff with five breaths every morning and nights. 3. Ventolin (the rescue inhaler that’s blue): If ever I see and/or hear her showing signs that an asthma attack is coming on, I give Crystiana the rescue inhaler with two puffs and breaths every four hours. 4. Children’s Zyrtec: I have to give Crystiana 2.5 mL of Zyrtec every morning and definitely when she has an allergic reaction to dog dander. 5.
