I love it when God uses our day to day experiences to teach, lead, and guide us. While potty training my youngest, God spoke to my heart concerning walking into new and unfamiliar seasons. On the first day of potty training, I knew when my toddler needed to use the bathroom; he ran to my room, grabbed a diaper, handed it to me, & communicated in his cute way, "put dia-po me" (my 4th did this exact thing!). I took the diap-o and explained that mommy was showing him a new & better way of doing things. And to trust mommy during the process. See, this new way of using a toilet was unfamiliar and uncomfortable to my son. He was used to the old way, his diap-os, and that was what he knew, it was comfortable to him. He couldn't forsee all the wonderful benefits of being potty trained. He was being stretched and moved out of his comfort zone. All of this was for his good, he was ready, & I knew he could do it. He didn't understand..and that was okay...only trusting my leading and a willing heart was needed. Through this whole potty training process, God reminded me of times when I walked through unfamiliar and uncomfortable seasons; times when I wanted to remain exactly where I was comfortable, yet He desired to stretch me and grow me for my good. He reminded me of the times when He called me to simply trust Him with every part of my being, & I wrestled with it. He reminded me of His patience and compassion while I walked in stubbornness and fearfulness as He tenderly taught me His ways. He reminded me of His grace and mercy when I wanted to run back to old habits. God reminded me of times He was my biggest encouragement as He walked with me through paths I didn't understand.. Is God calling you to something new or unfamiliar? Is He growing you? Maybe it's the breaking of old habits and His desire to teach you His ways instead. Maybe it's to trust Him more when it feels uncomfortable to do so. Whatever it is, we can trust Him and know it's for our good and with purpose. Happy Sunday ♥️ "Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43:19 #motherhood

“Take time to enjoy the simple things in life with your children because before you know it, they’ll be grown and gone. Make memories.” – Unknown 🌻 Happy Sunday! I can't believe we are nearing the end of July. This summer is passing way too quickly. We have been celebrating birthdays and having fun in the sun by visiting our local pool. 🌞 Recently, I took my two year old to the pool along with my other children. Boy, oh boy....A few moms at the pool had to chuckle with me as I was chasing my fearless two year old all along the pool deck. Then all he wanted to do was jump in the water over and over again. He thought it was quite hilarious! By the time we got home....I was like 🤤😪😴💤. He wore me out! 🌻 Doing the best I can to slow down, soak in the simple summer days, and enjoy the longer nights God gives me with my family...everyday is a gift. 🌻 God bless you all this week! #summer #summerdays #soakitallin #homeschoolfamily #motherhood #homemaker #toddlermoments #momlife #momlifeisthebestlife #treasuringthetinymoments #matchymatch #mommyandme #bigfamilylifestyle #bigfamilylife #childrenareaheritagefromtheLord

"This job has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God’s way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness." 🌺Elisabeth Elliot🌺 Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers, grandmothers, and mothers who adopt those sweet children. Motherhood, homeschooling, and trials have a way of showing us our deep need for Christ. And it's okay to have that deep need. We need Him more and more for His guidance, His direction, and His encouragement. He is so faithful. There is so much freedom in His truth. Singing this worship song all week.... 🎶"Lord I come, I confess Bowing here, I find my rest Without You, I fall apart You're the one that guides my heart Lord, I need You, oh, I need You Every hour, I need You My one defense, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You Where sin runs deep, Your grace is more Where grace is found is where You are And where You are, Lord, I am free Holiness is Christ in me Lord, I need You, oh, I need You Every hour, I need You My one defense, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You So teach my song to rise to You When temptation comes my way And when I cannot stand, I'll fall on You Jesus, You're my hope and stay Lord, I need You, oh, I need You Every hour, I need You My one defense, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You You're my one defense, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You My one defense, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You"🎶 Matt Maher 🌾 My youngest was so done after playing at church yesterday that he slept right through our Sunday pictures. 🥰 I soaked that right up. 🌾 May we have a memory making week. Hey mamas! Let's face it, as soon as our baby is born-feeding this child is a huge priority for moms! It remains that way for a very long time! 🍎 I often get asked about meal planning and food supplies for my family. As I have had more children, the needs and supplies have changed over the years. 🍽 There is one component that has not changed and that is menu planning. My suggestion is to make a daily menu for all meal times and jot down your store list from the menu. 💡 My oldest daughters are excellent in helping plan our meals, we even include snack planning for the little crew. Meal planning really eliminates unnecessary stress for us all when we have our meals planned and supplies are purchased! 🌮🥪🥓 🥦Comment with any questions and I'll reply!😊 #momlife #mealplanning #bigfamilylife #bigfamilylifestyle #mom #menuplanning #supplyplanning #organizingmeals #mealplanning #savemoneybymealplanning #organizationtipsformomswhomealplan #helpfulmealplanning #homeschoolmomlife #homeschoolmom

bacon, muffins, and chocolate milk for breakfast on this gorgeous Palm Sunday morning! “So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” John 12:13 I am praising the Lord for my improved time management skills, while also acknowledging that there’s still the possibility for ANYTHING to go awry. I am mentally prepared for my response to whatever that may be when it happens. I think that praying for such things works because I am recognizing the specific areas in which I need work and I am able to verbalize that need for help to my Father in Heaven who knows and sees me best. What a good friend I have in You, Lord. Thank you for your Son Jesus the Christ who walked the Earth for the purpose of showing us the way to You! I stand with the women who want to make sandwiches great again. I stand with the women who want to be wives and mothers and homemakers. I stand with the women who have been told it’s not a worthy calling.
I stand with the women who have been tricked. I stand with the women who are trying.
I stand with the women who want to learn.
I stand with the women who are repentant for their mistakes.
I stand with the women who didn’t know until they knew.
I stand with the women who are ridiculed by the men & women who weren’t tricked.
I stand with the apron wearers, the booger wipers, the foot rubbers.
I stand with the women who value submission to God and man.
I stand with the women who are authentic in who they were created to be.
I stand with the women who understand their divine purpose.

I stand with the widows who don’t have a husband to make a sandwich for.

Have you ever felt loneliness? I remember when my fifth was 8 weeks old and my oldest six. We moved from everything that was familiar to me: homeschooling moms & community, a large church, and dear friends. I stepped into a season with a lot of change. We moved to an incredibly small town, a small church, and I wasn't connected to many moms who were in the same child rearing season I was in.About 9 months later, I experienced a traumatic miscarraige that struck my heart with grief and emptiness. In the middle of it all, I was juggling motherhood, trying to find my homeschool rhythm, trying to find new SLP'S/ OT's to help my son, and adjusting to a fixer upper home. I found myself in a place of loneliness. This season stretched me and drove me to see my deep need for Christ. There were days when I found myself daydreaming about my old house, old church, and my friends from afar.I longed for the former days so much,I found myself slowly feeling discontentment in the present. But God, by His grace, showed me that He had so much for me right where He planted my family. He revealed, in the midst of my loneliness, that He was working something new and spectacular in my heart. God turned my eyes heavenwards and instead of longing for the past, I began relishing in the present. This encouraged my heart to study my children and their interests, read books about homeschooling-and dig deep into His Word. He helped me to see that He was working all things for my good in the midst of all the changes. I know some seasons are harder than others. Seasons of loneliness, emptiness, and change aren't easy on a weary heart. But God has SO much for you, right where you are.I love what is written in Job 5:8, "But as for me,I would seek God, and to God I would commit my cause, who does great things, and unsearchable, marvelous things without wonder." (For the most part Job's heartless friends said many things that were not uplifting, but I thought this verse was great). In our season of loneliness, seek God..pursue Him, commit your cause to Him..and watch Him work "unsearchable, marvelous things without number" right there in your ♥️ 🌾 #momlife #relationships #twinning #motherhood

"Remember what is important. God loves you. His Word says that He is love. Love (that is, God) leads us, but fear 'drives' us. Do you feel driven in your homeschoooling? That isn't God. Every time you start to feel driven, I encourage you to hit the pause button and wait on the Lord. I love the word picture of waiting found in Isaiah 40:28-31 (NLT): Have you not heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. " Durenda Wilson, The Unhurried Homeschooler I don't know about you guys, but I needed this reminder by Durenda Wilson. I love how she writes about being fear driven. In her book, she discusses how fear can make us feel stressed, and when we feel that desire to be driven from fear, to simply slow down, pause, and wait on the Lord. That is the best place to be...being still and waiting on God's direction. He has a way of ministering to our hearts and providing the direction we need for that moment, that day, or even that particular season. He is so faithful.❤️ Look at my baby. He's standing up like a big boy. He wants to copy his big brothers and big sissy in everything. This also makes my heart a bit sad as he is changing so much. I hope you all have a wonderful week. Keep fighting the good fight, doing the Lord's good work. Happy Sunday!💛 I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends. We ate so much pie and goodies that I still feel stuffed! It was nice to take a small break from our daily homeschooling life. I was able to get refueled a bit and have a little time getting caught up on laundry and some organizing, which by tomorrow morning, the baskets will be full again! I used to overly worry about not getting everything done. Now, I see it as a complete blessing that I have laundry to clean (trust me, I struggled for years seeing it this way...and there are days when I need to ask Jesus to help me see those big piles as big blessings). It's an opportunity to pray over my children while dumping clothes into the washer. And while setting my husband's uniforms to the side, I have the opportunity to pray over him and his job during these uncertain times. Also, with a break from homeschooling, sometimes my children forget a few things they were learning. That is okay! Just a quick review usually helps and then we are back on track in no time. If any of you new homeschooling mommas are experiencing this...don't freak out. It is totally normal to have to revisit some concepts after our children have had a break. . Tomorrow we plan to resume our daily lifestyle as a homeschooling family. We have a few advent books and Christmas books that I can't wait to get started! And today, I had to reveal to my sons the disappointing news that me teaching them how to fly a helicopter can't be part of our homeschool....🤣😂 . May God richly bless you this week! . "So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12

Look at these gorgeous packets from @the.campfirecrew! I was talking to one of my friends about an unit study for this time of year and she suggested this one. They have a packet/journal for all of my learners. We are putting a hold on science and history and beginning this study today. Can't wait to share some of the engaging activities. A beautiful Thanksgiving study from The Campfire Crew is available too. We coupled 'God Gave Us Thankful Hearts' as our read aloud.

A 31-year-old woman was given less than a one percent chance of conceiving naturally, so she and her husband went to an adoption agency. They were thrilled to be matched with a newborn, but just five days later, the baby's birth parents changed their mind. "It felt like an actual death to us because we knew we would likely never see her again," she said. But just a few days before this tragic incident, Sarah had been faced with an incredible miracle while looking at her pregnancy test.

A Florida couple, who already have a family of their own, adopts a baby girl, Sadie Grace, only two years after adopting her two brothers. She turns 1 on June 22. ⠀ The Cross family, Tony, and his wife Carla, met in 1997 in a family restaurant and had 3 children of their own, Shelby, Sydney, and Sawyer. However, when the opportunity came to adopt two little boys and their little sister, only two years later, they did not pass. ⠀ Tony posted a photo of the little girl on Instagram, sitting on the floor with a plaque with her name, date of birth, the date that they met her, and the date that she officially becomes a member of their family by her side. ⠀ They are celebrating the girl on June 26. They say they will have their first fundraiser T-shirts to help them celebrate other foster families that go the same lengths to ensure a needy child is cared for. ⠀ This comes only two years after adopting Sandie’s brothers. They were in a bad health condition and looked neglected. The Cross family says the boys did not respond to discomfort as a child should. ⠀ Nate,’ the 2.5-month-old, was extremely sad and had rashes all over. He didn’t cry when he was hungry, wet, or had a poopy diaper." ⠀ All that was clear was that they were sweet boys and the Cross family wanted to adopt them. They would later take them to therapy to help them heal. ⠀ As the boys could not communicate, they started by forming a bond with the family rather than starting communication using words. They say it was not an easy journey, especially when they first started. ⠀ Their identities as siblings were, however, confirmed after a DNA test was done. More details and other news on our website. Because it CONTINUES to elevate EVERY area of my life. THAT is why I’m still building this business, encouraging other Mamas, and mentoring other business builders. I had a friend say to me “I figured it was just a phase you were going through” 🤷‍♀️ Truthfully, when I started, I didn’t know how long I’d continue to share, but I knew I had to share it— I knew it could change the way the women around me felt about themselves. But how long could I possibly enjoy it? How long would it really work to KEEP ME healthy? Plus, I didn’t think I had time for it— I just wanted to help a friend or two and hold myself accountable. Almost 4 years later and my business is continuing to grow. Most importantly, it continues to elevate every area of my life. 👩‍👧‍👦Mom life. My energy, patience & strength. I have more to give my kids. Piggyback rides and races all day long. Slowing down to teach lessons and discipline, without losing it (most of the time 😂 ). 🤯 My Mind. Constant learning & growing. Strategic thinking, collaborating, CONNECTING & teaching. 🔥Purpose & Passion. I thoroughly enjoy facilitating accountability & challenges, cheering on others, focusing on realistic change, creating healthy habits, friendships, confidence building and growth. It really fires me up. 💴 Finances. I really like contributing to our finances and alleviating any hesitations about taking big family vacations, regular date nights, building a new house, the future pool, buying a new car or paying for groceries for a huge family (and pedicures and endless amazon orders too 😳.) 👩‍❤️‍👨Wife life. Taking care of myself (mind and body) & having an outlet that relieves stress instead of adding it, helps me show up as a better partner. What are you doing the ELEVATE your life? It doesn’t have to be a new business for you— Maybe it’s a book that encourages you to go after an exciting goal. Or maybe it is a business that is designed to help you be the best version of you. If you’d like to learn more about my Summer Business-Builders Mentorship, I’m cohosting a 20-minute 411 call Wednesday night at 6:30PM PST. DM me to hop on and listen live or I’ll send you the recording!

Do you know what this bump means?! 😅 It means that I have done some abs 😁 But it’s also means that here we go again 🤩 It has been weird battle for me to say yes for more than four kiddos. Our modern western culture some how strongly whispers it’s not normal to have many children. It’s kind a silent norm to have 1,84 children. And I don’t think the main reason for that is the concern of climate change and the children impact for that. It’s mainly something else. 🤔 Living life out of our norm. Being different. After processing this new pregnancy and first of all saying yes at the beginning for change to even get pregnant again. I now start to be little bit more willing to carry the burden of being weirdo in our western culture 🤪 It has been surprise to see that here in north Lapland it’s more normal to have four or even five kids than what it was in Helsinki. It’s also more ok to children to be children here and get some noise and turbulence. I have love that. And this t-shirt.. You strong and courageous mama #crossfit bamyan- you give me strenght when I am thinking of you 💖 mother of seven 🥳 You and some others as well are great examples that it’s possible to have many children and still do good things in this world and multiply this with children🙋🏻‍♀️ So yes my friend- I appreciate your congratulations ❤️ but I also understand if you are shock or if you don’t think this is the way of live responsible life and can’t wish us good pregnancy. But this is the way for us. Happy Summer 2021 🌸

In September, Katie Holstein, who has served as a foster mother since 2017, decided to adopt 17-year-old Akyra Holstein. Holstein’s decision left the teenager in awe. The latter said: ⠀ "It's almost too good to be true." ⠀ When she decided to become a foster mom three years ago, Holstein initially wanted to take in younger children. Holstein said that she had always been scared of taking in teenagers, adding she had heard many “horror stories.” ⠀ But Akyra changed her perspective. She realized that teenagers in the foster system deserve a chance at having a regular family life in spite of their age. ⠀ Holstein officially adopted Akyra on September 25. The 17-year-old said she was in disbelief. She said that she had always struggled with trying to meet other foster parents’ expectations. ⠀ But with Holstein, the teenager said she can just be herself. Holstein, who was living with her parents and sisters prior to becoming a foster mom, said she was ready to become a mom. ⠀ She moved out and became a registered foster parent. In August of 2017, three siblings under the age of 2 were placed with her. Since then, she has been a foster mom to 13 more children. ⠀ ne of the highlights of her fostering life was when she helped in the reunification of two sisters just before Christmas in 2018. In 2019, she was asked to foster a boy named Thomas. ⠀ At the time three young boys were already under her care. She said it was a big decision, but she nonetheless went ahead with the adoption process. ⠀ After a few months, a social worker phoned her to request that she take in Akyra for the weekend. The teenage quickly made a good impression on her. Holstein said Akyra got along well with the other, much younger kids. ⠀ She later made yet another big decision to adopt the teen. Holstein said she became tired of waiting for the right circumstances to start a family of her own. She realized that it was best for her to get started with having a family instead of waiting to become financially stable or have the perfect home. More details and other news on our website. When the sky is that beautiful shade of purple gray and the snowflakes start falling, and I’m snuggled warmly in my bed...I cringe a little. I cringe a little because I know my kids are going to want to go outside and play and that means a giant, wet mess for at least 24 hours. I LOVE that my kids want to be out in nature even when it’s freezing cold and have come up with a few ways to help minimize the “I want to play in the snow” chaos. • Each kid has their own recognizable bag with their own gloves, hat, socks and snow pants, cutting down on all the, “Mom! Where’s my __?!” questions. •Have a coat rack near the door. Every summer I think, “We do not need this cluttering up our lives!” And every winter I’m glad the kids have a place, near the door, to let their wet clothes dry. • Buy gender neutral snow gear. Our kids grow so fast that it’s nice to just pass their old stuff on to the next kid. All our stuff is black. Black boots, black snow pants, gloves etc. They get to pick their coats each year so that adds variety and personality to these ensembles. •We have a handmade boot station. It has a cute wooden ridge so it looks intentional, with a welcome mat from the dollar store in it to soak up the wet. There are 5 pairs of boots but they kind of look cute in their own little spot by the door. •As hot cocoa is a must after these excursions, and although I don’t drink tea a bunch of hot water at the ready is so much more efficient than the one cup at a time method so I’ve invested in a tea pot. I hate messes but these free, simple things help me feel a bit of calm in the middle of the literal snowstorm. . . . . #snowchildren #playinsnow #kidsinnature #kidsinnaturearehappy #organizedmess #happymomhappyhome #bigfamilyproblems #bigfamilylifestyle #bigfamilyliving #momofsix #mamaof6

“If I know what love is, it’s because of you.” – Hermann Hesse⁣ ⁣ It’s #TellMeSomethingTuesday! As usual, I will go first!⁣ ⁣ From a young age, I decided I wanted 5 kids and to be done by the time I was 29😂. Well...I ended up with 6😍 and I was 35 when I had my last baby! Happy first day of school, from home! 🏡 🏫 ⠀ ⠀ Digital Learning👨🏽‍💻 ...cause Pandemic 2020⠀ We are starting K, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 7th grades. I am assuming the new professional title of Digital Learning/ Chaos Coordinator this year! ⠀ 2020 has been the “Year of the Pivot” and it’s taking everything we’ve got to bring the JOY and POSITIVITY each day! ⠀ ⠀ Lots of positive self talk this morning. ⠀ ⠀ Took 27 minutes to log in. ⠀ ⠀ We’ve called Jeff at least a dozen times already (it’s only 9:45am). ⠀ ⠀ Middle schooler still trying to log in. 😰 ⠀ We’ve got this. ⠀ We’ve got this.⠀ We’ve got this.⠀ ⠀ Be near, Jesus!

“Mom, what’s for dinner tonight?!”⠀ ⠀ Cue, eye roll. 👀 👩🏾‍🍳 ⠀ ⠀ Look at 📲 phone for the pizza place down the street. 😉 🍕 ⠀ ⠀ In this situation we are on one of two sides: ⠀ ⠀ 🌟 Team, “Meal Prep Mom”, those of you out there who are super organized planners and shoppers. You thoughtfully plan your balanced weekly family meals like a pro! We are in awe!⠀ ⠀ OR⠀ ⠀ 🌟 Team “The Rest of Us” who have the best plans and dreams to be prepared. We may even make a meal or two at the beginning of each week that include healthy things like veggies, BUT by Wednesday night we are thinking “take out”, “cereal night with fruit”, or whatever is in the freezer should suffice...even frozen waffles. ⠀ ⠀ Tell me...I’m dying to know, which one are you?? Be honest, y’all. This is a judgement free zone! ⠀ ⠀ Today, I hope this post helps with at least one meal this week. As a family, we have this often, it’s kid friendly and a family favorite! And I’m so excited to share!⠀ ⠀ BONUS: I’d bet you have most of this on hand!!!! Just add Nori Wraps to your shopping list this week! We get ours at Walmart!⠀ ⠀ ⭐️”Our Sorta Sushi Night” Recipe: ⭐️⠀ ⠀ Nori Wraps (these are used to wrap the sushi. Pro tip: the wraps come in sheets and easily crumble. Simply drip a tiny bit of water to soften the wrap...helps when you roll the good stuff in. ⠀ ⠀ 🍚 Rice 🍚 ⠀ 🥕 Carrots 🥕 ⠀ 🥒 Cucumber 🥒 ⠀ 🥑 Avocado 🥑 ⠀ Top with a tiny pinch of Himalayan Sea Salt ⠀ *optional: other veggies of interest.⠀ **optional: fish (we often add leftover salmon)⠀ ⠀ I get it. I get it. It’s not real sushi, but it’s got veggies and it’s fun to make with kids. It takes minutes to make and the fam will love it! ⠀ ⠀ There you have it. One meal down for the week!! Try it out this week and let me know how it goes!!! XO
