Our May meal plan is up and it was meals predominantly picked by the kids. I had them each pick 4 of their favorite meals, then Joe and I filled in the rest. It's our big Birthday Month, so when we take the kids out for their birthday dates, the others will just fix whatever they want at home for dinner that night (aka Fend Night). Going through my meal planning / kitchen inventory to put together our May menu has allowed me to prioritize shopping smart and minimalize purchases this month. Goal is to come out a tad under budget but also taking into account going out to eat. I should *fingers crossed* only have to do 2 grocery orders to get the ingredients needed this month. 🤞This will make June a big grocery haul month to restock. It really is a shame I didn’t get any more pictures from this weekend . These boys plus Fletcher and Max who were napping at the time of the picture had the best weekend together . Sam wanted to have a sleepover in the RV for his 13th birthday so we invited cousins over, they stayed up waaayyy too late, consumed an undetermined amount of frozen waffles and bagel bites . Took many tractor rides , built and rebuilt the trailer and even decided to take this rig a mile and a half away to Grandmas house and may have gotten pulled over by a very nice police officer on their adventure 🤦🏻♀️😂. Wales 🏴 March 2024 Before I start filling my squares with Japan pics (which I promise I will!)… I want to share one more set of photos from the UK, specifically from our time in southern Wales. It was Easter weekend and the first time we’ve been outside of the US during a major holiday so we wanted to make it special. Since we were road tripping already, we decided to head over to Wales, another new country for us, and see what we could get up to around the Cardiff and Swansea areas. As it turns out, we found plenty to keep us busy! We had some dreary weather, a fender bender with our rental van (goodbye deductible), and an incident that same afternoon where I locked the keys in said rental van 😳 BUT…. What we’ll remember most is how we got to enjoy beautiful sunsets, muddy hikes to waterfalls, visiting historic castles, learning together at museums, and meeting the challenges we faced with fierce camaraderie. Full time travel isn’t always easy…. Things can go wrong, people have bad days, kids get overstimulated, parents get overwhelmed, and all of that is out of our control. I was cutting lettuce too quickly and sliced through my thumb nail. Immediate adrenaline on top of my current extenuating circumstances. How deep did I cut? Do I need stitches? Please don’t let the kids freak out. All thoughts rushing through my head as I’m running my wound under stinging water. I sit in the corner of the kitchen holding my thumb to suppress the bleeding and Everleigh jumps into action. Mommy what do you need? First thing she gave me was the hat, followed by a stuffed carrot I had recently purchased for myself, two pillows, a trash can - in case I needed to throw up, a blanket and lastly a baggie with ice cubes in it. She rushed to my aid with loving kindness. Her pure acts of love filled my mending heart and brought such joy. It feels difficult to post a picture of myself smiling after my last posted picture. Both of my parents came from families of 5 siblings, and from all those aunts and uncles on both sides, we have dozens of 1st, 2nd & once removed cousins! (And everything in between.) Next #GoNoGo #MovieReview is … #UnsungHero I wasn’t familiar with Rebecca St. James or her (now) famous family’s story walking into this movie. The trailer is what peaked my interest. I was attracted to the premise of how important family is. Especially to young impressionable children as they grow up. The children in this true story grew up to have successful lives all because of the relentless love, blood, sweat and tears their parents shed to help guide them there. And that’s a beautiful thing to witness in this bleak and hopeless time we are currently living in. If it weren’t a true story I probably would’ve rolled my eyes during a few overtly sappy scenes. The kind that would make hallmark wince. Some parts had more cheese than a preacher throwing a Brie party. BUT there were also times it brought me to tears. Refusing to be defeated by instant poverty lead to small miracles the family encountered by rolling up their sleeves, putting in the work, praying together and living their modest lives filled with faith, hope and love. And what better time to hear that message than now. I believe one of our biggest weaknesses as a society is that a huge portion of us forgot just how much we need each other. We can’t survive this rollercoaster of life alone. We need family. No matter what it’s made of. Find your tribe, treat others the way you want to be treated, and love as hard as you can. ✅GO✅ if you’re in the mood for some sappy inspiration.

Surprising the girls with baby’s gender… I didn’t want to be in bed or unable to hug and kiss the girls (due to my c-section) when they met Kai for the 1st time. So, the morning after he was born, we dressed him up, in blue of course.💙 Then, covered in cozy white blankets, we patiently waited for Ouma to arrive with the guests of honour. Finally the long 9 month (and 1 day😋)wait was over! Eyes closed, we lead the girls into my room and to Kai’s bassinet. Together Eliana, Lia and Ava carefully opened up the blankets and they finally met their baby BROTHER. It’s impossible to put the love and emotions we all felt into words.
