The third slide is a separate poem, one I wrote almost two years ago. The first two slides are one I wrote today. I think about goodbyes, some ugly, some beautiful, some thoughtful and caring, some so painful that it’s so hard to let go. Though you will get there and it’s easier. And then there are ones that are more careless and maybe not even a goodbye at all. The silence can be excruciating and one must remember to breathe. The actions are more about them than you, their character, their coping/protective mechanisms, their own baggage. Whatever they made up about you in their head is their own perception. And goodbyes sometimes don’t get to happen though when you do have some control of it, maybe it can be beautiful. . . . There is so much empty in the way you said goodbye / We had to abandon each other to not abandon ourselves. I am here and there is only now. and I took the empty and made it mine / I feared the dark empty room alone for decades / there is no box / no vault to unlock / I walked in and painted everything / took the bare shadow walls and the hollow space / hand printed, finger painted, foot stomped, every spec to rid it of you / I so badly wanted you to need me in the same way I falsely believed I needed you / The signs are in my own forgiveness / that you can’t abandon someone who no longer abandons themselves / that responsiveness is consistent and consistency is reliability and reliable is trustworthy / I mailed myself my own package / filled with tea and my own surprises / light up bracelets and friendship lamps / set up a phone call and I meant it / showed up on time and listened / I wrote myself my own responses / I made myself my own playlists / and loved me with so much passion / that my sadness and grief are well nourished / There is so much empty in the way you said goodbye / that’s all it ever really was / me and my own fear of the empty / we had to abandon each other to not abandon ourselves I am here and there is only now. . . . You first must have the energy to be fascinated Be the momentum of the red cardinal / a sign from a deceased loved one / a reinforcer to do everything with love and passion . Be the protection of the jaguar / the sweetness of the hummingbird / the masculine and disciplined elk / an elephant grounded / remover of the obstacles / and obstacles to steer you towards the best path . Book now / they will come / . An open space / a swimming pool / garden springs / and sanctuaries / a journey of colors / kaleidoscopes . FLATLINE Working on a longer piece for an event, and I had this line popping up during writing. I wanted to use it in my poem, but somehow the way it was composed was not fitting into the poem, so I had to rearrange the line for it to fit in. But still i wanted to have this out there, just a little reminder to the one’s who think that we are to much, that our life is to chaotic, that we feel to much, that we should conform us to the society’s standard. There’s a poem in you And when I say poem I mean story And when I say story I mean a dream And when I say dream I mean a vision And in that vision is your passion like a seed Something miraculous that hasn’t even fully met your consciousness Though you feel it in the split of light In the sprouting You must first let it collapse And then in those seconds when you aren’t paying attention It will reveal / as simple as the beanstalk So will you sound it out Will you imagine will you write it Will it let it guide you Will you create Vivid as the depth in your eyes There’s a poem in you I see it. . . . . The things outside of us are also in us. The things in us are also outside of us. This pictures are glimpses into life. There were burning mountains in Harrisonburg, VA this week. The Frances’ Scott Key bridge collapsed late last night after a ship lost power and sailed into it. There’s a geomagnetic storm impacting the world and creating northern lights in Ohio. A solar flare. An eclipse. We are energy that which can’t be created nor destroyed though you can influence it. We can intellectualize life all day though maybe there is something greater than our sense of self, beyond comprehension. YOU AMAZE ME. . . . . . There is so much space. WITHIN ME It’s the darkness in me which felt abandoned when I allowed light to flow through me Now darkness keeps calling me Trying to open up the door to let her roam freely like she used to For the past few months I am barricading that door in the hope she will give up this exhausting quest of redemption But her roar only got louder Determined to be acknowledged, she fights and I I am tired of fighting a battle I might never completely win because she will always be a part of me Dark and cold Unafraid and boundless Fierce and shadowed A last knock on the door It slowly opens and I’m hoping that my days of darkness will fade now that she is back again.
