A little while back the Township of King asked us to help design some signage for their new disc golf course located at the Cold Creek Conservation Area in Nobleton. The main signs included an overall site map, rules and regulations and the design of custom icons. Each of the 18 tee signs has an interesting fact about the surrounding flora and fauna or some of the features you’ll find along the course – the Cold Creek Apiary for example, or a few facts you probably didn’t know about ermines. We don’t play disc golf (yet!) but we did go for a walk around the course and we highly recommend it – the surroundings are beautiful. @coldcreekconservationarea #coldcreekconservationarea #discgolf

Designed by Chris Ozolins (King's Forest, Lafortune, Fireman's Park) the track offers beginners a fantastic opportunity to segue into the sport while enjoying the rolling hills, coniferous tree stands and various ruins the park has to offer. Had a wonderful time at the Maple Syrup Festival at Cold Creek Conservation Area 🍁 I met up with my friend Jennifer Anstey and her son Lewis. And of course I couldn't leave Roger behind. There was snow shoeing, pancakes, hike to the sugar bush and so much more. It was a great day.

When we pass through a tunnel, it is dark and we can't wait to get through the tunnel to the light. We do the same thing mentally. Sometimes we are taken to a dark place in our minds and we are eager to see the light. Depression may afflict us or we may become virtually incapacitated by our problems. Romans 8:6 says, "For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace." When we find ourselves in the dark places, part of the problem is that we are focused on the wrong things. If we are only thinking about what we want, then we can't see the light of what God can do. God is light and He gives peace and life. ❣Cold Creek Conservation area, recommended to us by @guesswheretrips! This area is a perfect hike to learn something new while getting in upto 6.6 km of hiking! There was lots of signage teaching us all about the trees in the area, as well as an old trapping line, a bog, a pond, an apiary, a former rifle range and even a high ropes course which is hopefully reopening this summer. The many trails are marked but can get confusing at times make sure to take a picture of the map or get the @alltrails app before you go! We saw lots of wildlife in the area, including many types of birds and snakes. ❣The main gates are open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (Closed holidays and some long weekends). Outside of open hours, you are welcome to park your vehicles outside of the main gates and follow the trail maps for hours of enjoyment! We’ve been having extremely cold weather lately so yesterday was the nicest surprise 😍 almost an hour into the hike we ended up having to take our jackets off, as well as the dogs! I don’t know if its just me but I hate having to hold my jacket 😂 rather be hands-free! Thankfully we all had our @littohowler Adventure Packs and Kenzo Connectors on us ✨ we used them to hang our jackets around our waists so we could enjoy the rest of the trail! Usually when we go on hikes with our friends, the dogs are always leashed! @monte.thepit and Baloo have never actually “played together” (they’re both too dominant and we’d rather them just co-exist) but during hikes its the dogs time to be dogs! So each one gets their own “off leash time”. When it was Monte’s turn we ended up borrowing their Kenzo Connector w/ traffic handle so Baloo could be on a hands-free loose leash w/o bothering Monte. Hiking with mom 🥾 _ 두 달전쯤 한쪽눈에 이상을 느끼신 엄마. 패밀리닥터에게 연락은 했는데 코로나때문에 스페셜리스트와 예약도 힘든 상황이었다. 겨우 스페셜리스트 만나 테스트해보니 황반원공 macular hole이라는 망막에 구멍이 생긴것이었고 급격한 시력저하를 초례한 것이었다. 나도 망막전막으로 몇년째 망막스페셜리스트 만나 체크업하고 있는 상황인데 엄마마저 같은 망막쪽 이상이라니. 그래도 다행히 코로나와중에도 수술을 바로 잡아줘서 어제 코로나테스트 받으시고 오늘 아침 수술을 잘 마치셨다. 눈 뒤쪽 젤같은 유리체를 제거한 후 가스를 주입하는건데 수술후 일주일동안 가스가 구멍을 막아줄때까지 엎드려 계셔야하는게 문제. 그래도 두 달동안 계속 걱정하다 수술까지 잘 끝내서 다행이다. 60세 이상 노인 특히 여자분들에게 많이 발병한다고 하고 보통 한쪽눈의 시력이 괜찮으니 자각을 잘 못하다 뒤늦게 발견하게 되니 다들 어머님들 눈체크업 정기적으로 받게해주세요. 저희 엄마도 정기적으로 검사 받으시는데도 불구하고 갑자기 4-5달전에 시작된거 같다 하더라구요 다행히 엄마는 일찍 발견하셨어요. 사진은 얼마전 엄마와 산책 다녀온 Cold Creek Conservation Area. Vaughan 지역에 사시는 분들 가깝게 다녀오실 수 있어요.
My winter #tkhikes: Cold Creek Conservation area. I loved it because it has many loop trails, so it's easy to hike with kids (you can decide on the go if you want to add another loop). The map only has the main trails, there are many unmarked "ski trails" but it looked like they all went back to the main trails. No risk of getting lost detected. Although at one point we followed the footprints in the snow only to realize it was not a trail. See pic #2 - when we realized we need to jump over a creek, we realized we are off the grid 😂😂 It's mildly hilly. Nothing too strenuous. After a few mild days, the paths were pure ice. We stayed to the sides of the path. The place has ski rentals (closed now due to covid) but we saw some skiers... attempting to ski on the icy paths. The kids enjoyed going down icy paths on their bellies, penguin style :) The structure in the first pic is closed.
