20km geschafft 💪 unterwegs waren wir 6 Stunden. Hab für Bilbo immer Mal wieder Badepausen eingelegt und eine kleine Portion Futter gab es auch für ihn. Aktiv gelaufen sind wir 4:18 was ziemlich geil ist weil die Strecke ist mit 5 Stunden Laufen angegeben 🤘 Ich kann gar nicht sagen wie stolz ich auf ihn (und mich) bin❤️ der @mammutmarsch kann kommen 💪 20km done💪 we were 6 Hours on the Way With Little Bathbreaks For Bilbo. Wk 2 Deadpool2 done in the 📚 Merc training takes Werc folks, time, energy, discipline and a whole slew of things but that is the main parts, but show up and give it your all ppl! Well today started off real well until later on when I sprained my ankle doing god knows what and when. I don’t even know how it happened other than had to dig out the crutches 🩼 again. Getting tired of the rower? 🛶 try this! What does high intensity look like? It’s supposed to vicious, it’s supposed to be hard and it’s not for everyone. This is why I love the ski erg from @perform_better ⛷️ (plus a little throwback to Drive495 to prove I’ve been using these for a while now) I will use this on occasions where I am trying to demand less out of my lower body, not saying NO lower body, but this will give me a break from running, skating, or air bike. All while still getting that intensity 🥵 I’m a fan of many different modalities. I recently got into a conversation of comparing the ski erg vs a rower. Personally I choose the ski erg over the rower because it is one less exercise where I am sitting. 🪑 I also find that rowers move a lot when performing much more high intensity work. I’m saying I NEVER use a rower but between the two this would be my choice most of the time. Bulletproof Your Core With The KB Overhead Carry 💪 This has been one of my favorite carry variations over the last 2 decades ✌️ Here I show you two variations: -the double overhead carry -and the single overhead carry (which is currently in next month’s challenge 😉) There’s two ways to get the KB overhead a clean or a snatch. REP RANGERS 📈 SWIPE ➡️ to learn what rep ranges I find most effective High rep 15-100 -       Used as an activation at a very low intensity, (stolen @wenningstrong warmup 🙏 ) I will go for the 15-25 rep range at 40-50% weight just to get the body activated before strength training, this helps me get looser a lot quicker. -       I may also use them as burnout sets later in the workout when I’m just trying to challenge myself or get blood in the muscle. -       Higher reps can focus on muscular endurance but personally, I think they help improve body composition as well. -       Higher reps with lower weights the body and the joints and are great if you feel beat up. Getting that training stimulus without wear and tear Mid rep 6-15 -       The Sweet spot for creating hypertrophy for MOST people. This is why we stick here a lot of the time. -      It’s also a good range that is easy to vary and track progress as well as increase or decrease weight. Low rep1-5 -       Primarily for strength and power but that doesn’t mean you WONT produce hypertrophy. -       People can be nervous to attack these ranges but I believe it helps me and my clients create strength and muscle density, which when comined with the other ranges can be helpful in creating a well rounded physique.   My approach to training has always focused on movement quality first but being powerful, strong, and lean is something that I believe is a great thing that most can accomplish.   I also don’t believe we should be throwing in different rep ranges at different times frivolously. This is why programming and planning is important. There are good days and bad days. Most of the time, the good days are more than the bad. There are days I look at my body and still find faults in it. I don't like how big my thighs look when I'm riding my horse and showing. I have to remind myself that my thighs are big and strong with muscles. HBD DON SALADINO! 🥳 Whether he's doing the Hudson River swim with hundreds of Navy SEALs, doing fitness challenges with Hollywood superheroes, giving motivational speeches at conferences all around the country, helping countless individuals on their weight loss journey, raising money for kids battling cancer, or playing hockey with the pros for charity, Don always gives 1000% and never ceases to amaze me. Funny story: one time I brought Don and Seb to Ronald McDonald House. I thought Don could give parents some easy health & fitness tips because when a child is sick, parents often forget to take care of themselves. At first the parents were shy so I figured I'd start with a personal question. I asked Don for advice on losing my baby weight and he's like "Awww how old is your baby?" And I said she's 4. And he's like, 4 months? And I said no, 4 years old. Silence. (I'll admit it was a bit of a curveball 😂). Then someone whispered "is that still considered baby weight??" aaand the ice was broken, everyone had a good laugh, and Don gave some great weight loss tips for moms at ANY stage postpartum. 😜 What I love most about Don is that he truly wants people to feel like the BEST version of themselves emotionally, mentally, and physically. Wk6D2 Bringin it to you!! As we are really making some progress thru this program. I always try to really bring it but especially in the final wk of each periodization. Not only are you familiar with the routines in these sets now but you’ve gotten stronger so you want to just PR it all.. and that my friends I did. Oh I love a good day and when you’re feeling good it’s an all out mentaility. You know it and the ones around you do too! I typically get in to my zone and my music and focus everything outside out, but when you got some gym regulars coming up to you to give you some compliments it’s actually very humbling and encouraging!.. first and foremost I do this for me and for my health and aesthetics etc is great but it’s not my motivation, my motivation was set for me after my heart surgery!. Man have I come a long way.. and I want to keep distancing that as well as keep myself from going back under the knife for heart things again.. as much as I can control! End of wk5D4,5.. I don’t just get lost sometimes, sometimes I just get lost in the process that I forget to come back to the world and report what had gone on.. and iv been immersed into my training and nutrition as well as had so many other things I was busy with too.. but I got the back work in and the shoulders and abs in, and my steps and.. you guessed it my nutrition too. Keeping on a journey it’s easy to follow the plan or the road to good health, see many things can come up, come in to the road you have to expect that. That’s just life but what you also have to expect is yourself responding to these things and the unexpected. We are as strong as we know we can be and.. even stronger too! One thing that’s changed for me in my coaching career is that I would’ve avoided doing this before the workout 25 years ago👇 Tempo work, getting the body to move fast, BEFORE the workout. 🏃 I’ll mix these in after my practice (my warmup) here I’m doing 10 seconds on 50 seconds off. 3-5 rounds. In the past, I would avoid this before heavy lifts as to not tire myself out. But doing this tempo work, in SHORT bursts will help prepare the body for heavier activity. I’ve found my resiliency is improved, my body feels looser and my focus is enhanced while getting into some of my warm up sets for the big lifts. Try mixing this in twice a week to start. 3-5 sets of 10 sec on 50 sec off will be a great way to start training after your warmup. Find a modality you can move fast with: KB swings, bike, treadmill, ski erg, sprints to just name a few 🚴 🏃 Let me know how you feel after trying this out! 💪 #warmup #gymwarmup #donsaladino #suitupwithdon #tempowork #fatloss #buildmuscle #endurancetraining

Wk5D3 The merc werk continues… despite being woken up at 1:30 am by suspect #1 on pic 3, I still was able to get a good Arm day with a bonus abs and a 30 min walk on the treadmill. Some days don’t cooperate with you and ya kno what.. you still have to grind thru work hard and get thru it as best as you can. That’s what I did .. I needed to actually get a few extra warmups in addition to the A block usuals. About ten to 15 mins thru I found myself tapped into a little super hero energy and really focussed and put together a great overall session that I am proud of. Came home to feed the body and the sleep thief Grayson.. only to find him sound asleep.. I mean why!!.. why would ya do that to me little buddy… oh yea .. you love me and love cuddling with me.. thank enjoy your nap all day til I get home!.. well steps and nutrition for me.. go get it everyone! #donsaladino #suitupwithdon #british_tails @donsaladino @vancityreynolds @british_tails

Wk4D2.. DISCLAIMER * First off I did get my leg day in yesterday just was short on time to document and pics .. but it’s all been done and logged in the book.. don’t believe me… ask my 🦵 they will confirm that!* Ok now back to our regularly scheduled program… I had Chest day today ppl. My shoulder still continues to be an issue as I push the weights higher otherwise I can get thru this I have many times!.. it felt good straight thru and those ISO holds are just a killer combo with pushups amraps of course. I peaked out at 30 each set and pushed out a bonus iso hold and bonus amrap pushups too. It’s not easy to wake up this time for some, but it does have a lot of benefits.. not only do you get a near vacant gym, but you get your metabolism going and fired up early. .. I had woke up courtesy of my little man in the last frame.. but I started stretching as I had been trying to incorporate some extra stretching to help fully wake my muscles and impingement issue in my right shoulder… I’m glad I did I got quite a few pr’s and even a bonus light cardio. ••• March Challenge Recap ••• This year these challenges are really all about maintenance for me. I look the way I want to look, I feel the way I want to feel, and I’m beyond happy at the physicality that I dialed into last year. My health and wellness routines have become second nature and all of my good habits are set in stone. So, now I am able to focus on everything else that matters — spending quality time making memories with my family, cultivating my beautiful friendships, reading and exploring all different kinds of literature, getting back to creating in the kitchen … all things that make me so happy and fulfilled. March was a great month (thank you spring break) and has definitely been my favorite challenge month of the year so far but as always, I’m excited to see what new routines @donsaladino has in store for us. We have a week ‘off’ next week so there’s plenty of time to join us for Aprils challenge! This is how we do it!.. Yes it’s a long wk, I was comfortable with Sir Grayson really trying hard to keep me laying down as he often loves lounging with his dad. But sorry boy daddy needs to get up to turn into a super hero… now getting up is the first sign of self discipline.. there’s no question sleeping is great and not wanting to move is also good .. but when I make the effort to be at the daily grind and roll up and see these older ppl do it!.. it just sends a lot of fuel to me that.. I want to be like that when I’m there age.. still doing if, investing in my health for the long haul. Now it’s not easy to get up when you’re older like this.. and sometimes it ain’t easy to get up at a much younger age too.. but they did it, with walkers and all! How cool is that!.. i may train to be a super hero.. but these ppl are the real heroes!! I made sure to commend them and say that they are inspiring to others.. to cut out some time for self care in your life is possible, maybe not at a time you want.. but I swear if you do it and sacrifice the not wants .. you will get exactly what you want! .. lets go! Back to back to back to back Well we are to back day again.. trap bar deadlifts on the menu.. oh now there’s a wakeup call for your 4am workout my friend!. Look, I don’t pick the exercises I just pick how I will dial myself in, get going, bring if all that jazz. This is super hero camp folks not preschool day camp or some place for the faint of heart. When you show up it’s piss or get off the pot…. Yup put the suit on!.. you are here to do work. That is exactly what got done. … oh man it felt so good. Go at a good pace really try to concentrate on that mind to muscle connection and let it just pop… and speaking of pop.. guns was yesterday but my arms decided to say .. hello today lol.. ok now it’s steps and nutrition and feed the fruition!.. if you want to burn.. well ya gotta add 🪵 to the 🔥. That’s right most known as the glamour muscles as my dad would often say. Daily grind Nothing good is rarely achieved without effort and for that matter folks it’s a grind.. everyday really is one step closer to the journey. And you are worth it! Now being Monday with the Merc training now a good strong stance starts with strong legs and a good balance with the core too, and that is exactly what we attacked today folks.. and those plates on the floor shot.. yea that’s for front foot elevated split squats. You don’t really need to go that high up on the front to get the connection and workout.. for me two 25lb plates is all it took! Well the Deadpool training going in at Wk4D1 is just fire you feel like your really starting to build something here!.. and of course we are we are building a stronger me!.. a healthier more athletic person too! No days off! In New England those words used to mean something.. for me everyday is a day into the health journey.. so really it is a no days off mentality for me. I may do the brunt of my strength training and so forth with weights mon-fri but come the wknd it’s time to give love to rest.. I kno it’s so hard for the gym rats to actually do this but it really does have its benefits!. But I prefer like so many to do an active rest day .. I may not pick a weight to throw around but that does not mean I don’t do something after all .. if you want to get somewhere.. you have to keep moving and that’s what I do folks.. Saturday after battling a migraine by 2:30 I was ready to get out and go for a run a power walk .. something so I made that happen and about 5 miles later I was in search for food lol.. Sunday woke up to a rainy day and opted for an indoor run. So yes while weather doesn’t always cooperate to what you need you need to make your goals happen.. and it’s at this point it’s only you standing in your way!… soo NO DAYS OFF! #donsaladino @donsaladino #suitupwithdon #deadpoolworkout @british_tails Go get it!!

Wk3D2 💀 pool 🏋️‍♀️ Ok just for a quick record I did get yesterday’s 🦵 day in .. don’t believe me .. ask my legs I guess. Well we really hit the chest hard today folks and as the music tells ya .. I’m feeling good! Soo good that I PR’d all the way thru.. now steps and nutrition is all I need now. In order to look great you not only have to match the intensity now that it’s a regular routine but you also have to match the intensity of good nutrition too!. Results do not happen overnight unless you somehow break the mutant gene.. which I haven’t yet lol.. but I’ll keep working at it to release the kraken inside!. Shoulder the responsibility! Strong shoulders contribute to not only good aesthetics but better lifts and better grocery bag carrying too.. ok well that’s forearms and grip strength too.. but .. lets get back to shoulders shall we. Iron man here loving finishing up Wk2D5 on the Deadpool program and it was all shoulders and a splash of abs too. Right after we were just worked with the shoulders it was time to get crispy as @vancityreynolds says in the mid section as we moved down to the core training… I did start out with my right shoulder being very sore and tight from an old injury and gives me impingement issues at times.. but I grinned and powered thru it! Trust the process! Trying to break the mutant gene is not an easy thing and certainly not an overnight occurrence! But it takes time, effort, a lot of pain, sacrifice willingness to go beyond your comfort zone with exercise, nutrition.. and lots of sleep.. that’s right!.. sleep is important too in the building blocks of your journey to fitville! Some may have genetics on their side but they still have to put in all that work, some may have the time or not have the time but, is the sacrifice to being healthy worthwhile?.. I’d like to think so. I know myself I have been thru far too much that I do not want to relive again.. so anytime I take to invest in my health and well being is worth it… and ya know what I truly believe you are worth it too! BACK and forth! Well folks we are Back at it again, and that is not just a statement but also a tip to what we are doing today. That’s right it’s back day! With so much attention going to the legs chest and arms it was time to give some love to the posterior chain! A strong back is essential for good posture let alone for keeping yourself in tune for any activity or whatever the merc training throws at you! Working our way thru the A block all the way to the F block. The A block is primarily the warmup for the rest of the fun… Fun.. Barbell RDL- thru the straight arm pull-down’s Yea it felt great. I highly recommend this program. It’s well balanced, challenging and can be done at any level, but it will get you to the next level too! Wk1D2 DP1 Well as if you figured breaking the mutant gene is not an easy thing Atleast it wasn’t for Wade Wilson so it sure as heck isn’t for me.. but we kno whatever doesn’t kill you simply makes you stronger. So today we found ourselves breaking into the Chest in our training. A few compound low rep movements with some lengthy rest .. so you know what that means.. you better have gotten a good nites sleep and dialed In your favorite music because we are doing some weight today folks!.. after getting thru the B,C, and D block we had a nice little superset of push-ups amrap (those are my fave guys!) combined with some iso fly holds!.. wowy wow guys.. it’s been fun seeing how much stronger iv been going in this the comparison start out numbers are just amazing. week four // friday // eom February ended up being not the month I wanted but in some weird way, the month I needed. I spent last week with the most violent food poisoning I’ve ever had — I have never been so sick in my life. I spent 6 days in a haze of what felt like near death and in that I lost over 2+ year workout/run ring closing streak, but worse, I lost about 8lbs. I’ve been so weak this week and it has been beyond frustrating. This Tuesday was my first day back with the living and I’ve taken it SUPER slow getting back into the groove. With the realization that my ‘perfect’ ring streak had come to a sad end, it made me realize how unimportant it is to us close my rings 😂 Like, no one gives a shit about that but me and there are bigger and better things to focus on than those red, green and blue circles. Feeling like I’m having to start over from scratch is freeing and invigorating because it gives me something to strive towards again. I was feeling a bit stagnant this year after ending the year at such a high point because there hasn’t been anything physical that I’ve wanted to improve on (probably for the first time in my life) and I wasn’t really sure where I was headed. I can look back and see the operating at such a high performance level for so long made me a bit of a slave to maximum efficiency. Being knocked down for 6 days definitely loosened those chains a bit. Now I have new goals and new ideas in what my physicality will look like moving forward. EOM February 24’ Challenge - I took a hiatus from the challenges with @donsaladino in 23’ due to money being tight and family obligations. I never stopped his programs though. Holidays came around and I hurt my lower back which turned out to be a titled pelvis pressing on my sciatic nerve. Then a close family member passed. All this caused my chronic autoimmune and inflammatory symptoms to flare. I also caught potentially COVID for the fourth time. I was a bit of a mess. But again, I never stopped. I kept going. I’ve adjusted, called audibles, slowed down, but never quit. I don’t quit. Even when my body has shooting burning pain like needles, my joints swell and stiffen, and chronic fatigue sets in. I. DON’T. F*CKING. QUIT. I’m alive today with a beautiful family because I gave double birds and screamed “F*CK YOU” to pain, darkness, and trauma. This health and wellness journey is not about winning, it’s not about being skinny, it’s not about being popular or noticed. I don’t really give to f*cks about any of that anymore. I want to take this life I’m living and pour my heart and soul in to it. This month has been a comeback. It’s been personal. I took the light baby weights and I did more reps, I walked instead of ran, and I gave up a good portion of my caffeine intake. Yet, here I am getting leaner and feeling better than I have in a long time. My journey is still going and I’m putting my face to the light and smiling. EOM Challenge post! >>> This month was tough with work, packing the house for moving in April, mental health challenges and doggie health challenges. But I was proud of myself for prioritizing, staying consistent and doing my best every day with the workouts and food tracking. I feel more confident than I ever did this time last year and it really feels like I’m headed out of the “weight loss” area and headed toward some really good body composition changes. I started all this in April of 2023 to do a cosplay and I am amazed at how far I’ve come, even after crushing that goal! Through these Challenges I kicked an eating disorder, lost 65lbs (so far!), went vegan, now do daily workouts and walks, have the confidence to wear things I never thought I could and the energy to spend on pursuing my goals like never before. I feel better at 36 than I ever have in my life and now I walk by the mirror and smile instead of cringe. 🤣 I’m so grateful to continue to be able to do this. There’s SnoW place like Home! With today being forced as well as planned to be a home 🏋️‍♀️ due to the potential ❄️ storm… we will get to that later. I didn’t let Mother Nature stop my day Atleast at home.. I pulled together the home dumbbell routine, grabbed my @bowflex adjustable weights and proceeded to get my sweat on. Folks whether I’m at home or at the avenger training facility I get the sweat and the grind in! Its full steam ahead just like running it in the end zone for a touchdown, I will not be brought down. Also I was excited to see how my slight heart rate and tune to my ticker would be and let’s just say.. it didn’t skip a beat 😉.. but it beat faster and no drag. TEMPO 🕰️ I’ve been adding in a lot of tempo/timed work recently. And man has it been working in these tri-sets🥵 These movements are a day 2 block of the February challenge program that absolutely works your shoulders. Where we perform three exercises in a tri-set each at a 3-3 tempo. This means three seconds up, three seconds down. Increasing the time under tension, and extending the rep to a full six seconds each. ⬆️ ⬇️ This means we have to go lighter and be more conscious of the movement. As well as working on that endurance and getting used to staying in it for a longer period of time. EOM January 2024 How it is already the end of January and time to post a recap escapes me honestly. Overall, as I reflect over the last 4 weeks, I feel a sense of peace about where my efforts were. Even though, for the first time in a year, since I started these challenges, I didn’t post an update in the facebook group even once. I gave up the pressure on myself to reply to others posts. I love seeing them pop up and keeping up on people but its not necessarily a source of motivation for me and find that if I spend too much time in the facebook group it drags me away from the things I really need and want to do. I didn’t take before/after pictures this month. I don’t feel like there’s much change to note there at the moment, and I feel no harm in skipping a month on doing that. Adding some videos and photos that I took this month that I really liked and make me proud. Added bonus, my 1996 picture, so emo. There was less documenting all around this month. Some items to note for the month: I gave up alcohol. The important part here isn’t that I gave it up. I did that last year in January. The part that is new here and feels like an NSV is that it was easy. There was not one day where I came home from work and thought “I wish I could”. I really feel like alcohol is a habit that I’ve really finally broken, and this month I was able to realize that. I finally got back in the habit of waking up early again. I had a couple months of doing this last year but the last 5-6 months have felt sluggish and very hard to get up even when I have had plenty of good sleep. I’ve moved my phone to the other side of the room to charge while I sleep. I moved my sunrise (6:25) + birds chirping (7:15) further away so that I have to get up to turn it off and Ive been getting up to drink my greens and read my book for a half hour on the couch before getting going with cleaning up the house or getting right into the workout. Incredible Weekend at @drgabriellelyon ‘s Forever Strong event in Austin Texas. 💪 Connected with a bunch of old friends and made a lot of new ones. Dr. Lyon has become one the industry leaders in the medical and wellness space (as well as one of my closest friends) Her book, Forever Strong has turned into the holy grail for health, longevity as well as establishing the meaning of muscle centric medicine. What I loved about this event is that it turned into a wealth of knowledge with some fantastic networking. The people there were genuinely there to help in this space. We all left feeling motivated and inspired. I’m incredibly honored to be a part of this movement that @drgabriellelyon has started. Welcoming my family as part of hers is something I’m incredibly grateful for. I’m already looking forward to next year’s event, hope to see you there.
