It's Wonder Wednesday-I am inspired to hold space to ask some thought questions to encourage us to think inward, and truly consider the roots of some of our beliefs. Today's question- Who or what made you believe you have to be strong? Now that we are seeing more posts and memes about soft girl season and becoming her…… How did we get to Strong Girl Season? While in session with one of my mentees and discussing her journey- she mentioned “Having to be Strong” and it struck a chord in me… After she finished her thought I asked the question and she paused for a really long time. She responded “I don't know”. Then I asked her to close her eyes while we did a guided Imagery exercise. This helped her recall her experiences and perspectives that lead to this idea of strength and the pressure created to walk in that state. Now Listen - I am still trying to fit into my soft girl season garments, but after doing my own deep dive on my who, what and why, I realize that my perceived reality- was not real world 🌎 nor how it should be….. I love God. His word really does give a blueprint for living. One scripture I have attached to over the past few years is 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.10 That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. It's Wednesday so a great time to pop in with a thought question.... Often when I share I am a life survivor- I also add some of the things i survived for context. What I have learned over the past few decades is life happens to all of us, how it looks and feels to us is an individual experience. So we cannot compare how I survived to another person's survival journey. The word survive - is a verb (an action word) so either you did it or are doing it. Survive defined - continue to live or exist, especially in spite of danger or hardship. The key phrase in this definition is "especially in spite of" or what I like to add is regardless of the facts..... And today I want to leave space to celebrate your Survival. For the battle scars (physical, emotional, psychological) you wear that are visible, the ones that have healed and the ones that are hidden under garments no one can see. If we can be honest some days we deserve a celebration just because we survived today with God's Grace. Take a bow 👏🏽👏🏽 God Sees You and I see You Too! And we are off🚀 I figured it would be best to start off sharing some critical 1st steps in the process to renew our minds spiritually. As I shared the other day —this is not a one and done exercise. Renewing our minds is a daily work that requires strategy and consistency to become a good habit. It is always easy - NO Way! That is why God gives us Himself/Holy Spirit, His Word and community to support us on this journey called life. For me it is #4 acting quickly when I realize my thinking is stinking. Learning to not stay there is where I have tO PUSH THE HARDEST. I am so used to the negative thoughts residing with me - it’s like they are right at home. But I am working everyday to not allow that to be my new norm and once I realize it - I push hard and fast into strategy. Creating a discipline is the key unlocking any shift in mindset. the action of delaying or postponing something. This quote was life changing for me in so many ways. In fact, I did a whole YouTube video and podcast episode about procrastination. This turned on a light 💡 in my brain and gave me the desire to want to better understand why I procrastinated in some areas of my life and not others. I gotta share those - I received great feedback on how it opened perspective for many. The main takeaway I want you to grab is - let’s not be so arrogant to think God can’t use someone or something else. Yes it can be very scary to move out in some areas….. trust me I KNOW! But God’s got you….. He has equipped you and will give you the resources you need. Just pray and move on his time. After spending decades in desperate efforts to force her way into acceptance. Time spent downplaying herself to elevate others so she would be called chosen. When I Struggle with My “History” - God Knows My “DESTINY”! No matter where you are in your journey, negative thoughts will creep in to shut you down, stop your progress, even make you feel bad about the progress you have made.....here are 3 things that have truly helped me. First - know you are not alone. I can tell you it happens to me Second - Prepare for it! Know when it’s happening (those negative thoughts/feelings) and build a strategy to address it head on so you don’t linger in that space for too long. Look back on all of your wins. How? I journal everyday and in part of my process I document what I am grateful for and at least one ☝🏽 Win for the day. Big or small it doesn’t matter.
