The guys that treat women with respect are… low, especially when it comes to actually coming out of nowhere and trying to talk to them. Dating, getting to know a guy, is life and death for a woman. They take serious risks for the chance to find a partner. They’re not ignoring you because you’re the nice guy, or because they’re shallow, it’s because every man they don’t know (and a lot of the one’s they either do or think they do), is a threat. I don’t know what he said to make her uncomfortable, or set off her red flags, but I’m glad she’s safe. I’m thankful she didn’t take the risk, and I’m mad that guys like this exist in the first place. In a perfect world, where these guys didn’t feel entitled to whatever woman they thought they’d laid-a-claim on, maybe we could just trust each other to be able to make casual dates, and women could trust guys to take them out, without needing to put their own safety at risk… that’s not this world. I don’t feel offended, or uncomfortable, that women treat me as an unknown when they meet me. Not anymore, not running this account for so long, and it’s because of things like this. There are a lot of really sick, narcissistic men out there preying on them like it’s a game. That’s my message to you guys. To any of the women reading, the only thing I have to say is… be safe. للأسبوع الثاني على التوالي، تستمرّ التحقيقات في ملف شبكة «#التيكتوكرز» واستدراج قصّر للتحرّش بهم جنسياً واغتصابهم وابتزازهم، وأكدت مراجع قضائية لميغافون أنّ عدد الموقوفين في الملف بات 9، من بينهم 3 قصّر. وقد أفادت معلومات قانونية إلى ارتفاع عدد ضحايا الشبكة إلى 14 من القصّر على الأقلّ، بعد تدوين المزيد من الاستجوابات وكشف المزيد من الأدلّة. وبينما تسير التحقيقات على وقع تسريبات إعلامية فضائحية لا تساعد التحقيق، ويتخلّلها الإشارة إلى أسماء مشتبه فيهم وحتى نشر صور الناجين، تحرّك القضاء لحماية القصّر، أكانوا ضحايا أو متّهمين بالمشاركة في الجرم. وقد تسلّمت القاضية الناظرة في قضايا الأحداث في #بيروت، #فاطمة_ماجد، استمارة مندوبة الأحداث الحاضرة مع القصّر في التحقيقات، وذلك بهدف اتّخاذ الإجراءات القانونية اللازمة التي ينصّ عليها قانون «حماية الأحداث المخالفين للقانون أو المعرّضين للخطر». ومن بين التجاوزات التي تعرّض لها القصّر خلال التحقيقات الأولية، أفيد أنّ بعض الاستجوابات حصلت من دون وجود محامين مع القصّر، كما تمّ تسريب خبر مواجهة الضحايا بالمُتّهمين، وهو الأمر الذي لا يمكن أن يحصل سوى بعد «انقضاء فترة على الجرم ومواكبة الضحايا نفسياً». وتشير الخبيرة في حماية الأطفال، #زينة_علوش، إلى أنّ الانتهاكات بدأت لحظة تسريب الخبر وتسويقه على أنه انتصار لجهاز أمني، وصولاً إلى كشف هويّات القصّر المتورّطين. وتضيف أنّ «تضارب المعلومات بحد ذاته انتهاك، وثمة معنيون بحماية الأحداث يقومون بتسريب المعلومات»، مع العلم أنّ كل الأطفال ضحايا. يُذكر أنّ التحقيقات في هذا الملف بدأت قبل أكثر من أسبوع، بناءً على شكوى تقدّم بها المحامي #محمد_هولو_زعيتر قبل نحو أشهر، وقد باشر مكتب جرائم المعلوماتية التحقيق فيها، بناءً على إشارة القاضية #غادة_عون. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and many survivors of domestic abuse experience mental health coercion from their partners or family members. The National Center of Domestic Violence, Trauma, and Mental Health defines mental health coercion as abusive tactics directed at a partner’s mental health as a broader pattern of abuse and control. Mental health coercion might include behaviors like deliberately undermining or questioning a survivor’s sanity, preventing someone from accessing treatment, controlling medication access, or even using a survivor’s mental health to discredit them with potential supportive people or systems. In part, mental health coercion can be so devastating because it relies on the pervasive social stigma of mental illness. Mental Health Awareness Month can help not only raise awareness of the importance of mental health, but also start to decrease the stigma of mental illness. Understanding and supporting survivors with mental health concerns is important to us. Behind this beautiful capture by @jensquiresphotographer are so many layers of vulnerability - so much complexity. We had just arrived at @thelimberlostforest forest, and we were about to begin our Chorus of Courage retreat with the surivors that were invited to share their stories. We were all moving through the discomforts from the unknowns and uncertainty of what the next few days would entail. We wondered: can I/we do this? I (Cindy) remember thinking "who do I think I am, bringing all of these people here to engage with such difficult experiences"... the imposter syndrome was loud. It kept me up at night. But underneath it all, there was surrender, and the intention to hold and engage with all of these parts, which led us to the foundation of trust that we built as a community. Honouring ourselves is brave, and engaging with our parts can be so vulnerable and scary; curiosity is a wonderful tool to use as a guide. This is a really cool story. I just had dinner with a stranger on Instagram except she didn’t feel like a stranger. She felt like a sister to me and a longtime friend. Why? She is one of the VERY few people I’ve ever known with the same childhood cancer I was born with called embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma. A few years back I met a young woman by the name of Victoria off the 101 freeway at a Starbucks to give her a hug. She flew in to get treatment from Honduras. Tasha is the 2nd young woman I’ve met in person. We shared a lot of laughs and a few tears over dinner. I love you @tashanathan_ ❤️ Having somebody who understands you and what you are going through and what you went through is comforting. We told each others things we’ve never told anyone because it’s too embarrassing ( at least for me it is). But when you have a cancer sister there isn’t anything you can tell them🙏 Another powerhouse is a young woman @teamellie_blog who I have not met in person, but one day know I will. She is now in medical school and helping other young survivors understand medically induced menopause and even write a book to help support you. She is amazing! #infertility is one of the hardest things going through #cancer at a young age. Growing up I didn’t have social media ( sometimes I’m glad I didn’t), but for things this connecting with others going through similar situations does help you feel less alone. Then there is @mayathebrave who I’ve also adopted as a sister and her mom too❤️ They are like family to me and we have never met. Maya and I supported each other while we both were living with an #ileostomy. Mine was from #ovariancancer and hers was from #rhabdomyosarcoma. Here’s the good news!!! We are ALL doing amazing and having a second chance at life ( for some of us like me, a third chance at life). My message to you today is to embrace TODAY! Don’t be afraid to reach out to a stranger and create a new friendship. You never know where it will lead. Life is not guaranteed for any of us so why not make today a good day! Sending all my love to my Rhabdomyosarcoma sisters around the world. If you are a rhabdo sister we want to know you. Introduce yourself🙏
