You asked for it, Every Little Thing Family - an Emotional Regulation class that is DURING THE DAY & KIDS ARE WELCOME! 🥳 You asked and were heard! I myself know how hard making a commitment to a 1.5-2 hour class on a weekend or weeknight is, even if I know it's something that will help support my parenting toolkit. Add in finding childcare, sports schedules, illness and usually it's a no-go for me. Last week, I kicked off my first Learn & Play Emotional Regulation series @nanuetlibrary - I'm so grateful they were willing to give this concept a try. Class is just 1 hour long (I can stay a bit for questions as needed) and is SUPER chill - you bring your kiddos, we have toys and books for them to play with while you learn, and if they need help/food/diapering needs, you're right there to support them 👍 If you have bigger kids, they can utilize the Children's Room - computers are right outside the room we where we learn and there are books and reading nooks for them to enjoy, too 🤩 We had an amazing class last week learning the science of the brain, why emotional regulation is important, and techniques on how to begin practicing this in our own lives. Students will come back this week to share challenges and wins and we're going to learn more techniques for our toolkits and have great open discussion. ***IF YOU MISSED LAST WEEK, no worries - we realized that we accidentally scheduled class over Passover Break for many, so you may have been unavailable to attend. ✨ The WHY behind this page. I’ve personally experienced or been a parent of every stage of T1 up to this point in life. Baby, toddler, child, teen, adult, pregnancy- whether it was myself or him. There’s NO reason to make T1 harder than it needs to be. There’s an EASIER way. • Parents deserve OPTIONS. • Parents have the right to receive ACCURATE information so they have the ability to achieve effective results. Our kids are everything and their health is top priority. He deserves NORMAL numbers. He deserves to have HEALTHY eyes. He deserves to FEEL amazing. He DESERVES better. There is no difference between his body and his siblings other than a shady pancreas. Eyes heart kidneys are the same. That’s exactly how they should REMAIN. Low carb PREVENTS high blood sugars, which prevents COMPLICATIONS. Just because he’s labeled “diabetic”doesn’t mean that his quality of health should diminish and fail quicker than theirs. Or, life expectancy be drastically reduced. When diagnosed with any disease ALL options are presented, considered, offered, then the BEST approach is accepted and a plan is developed. The best approach is chosen to ACHIEVE the longest healthiest life with that disease. • The system is FAILING diabetics. • The system is FAILING to reevaluate the standard of care. • The system is profiting billions, YES, billions a year from insulin. How’s that working for the diabetic community? It’s NOT, NEVER has, and never WILL. So why is a low carb option not being considered? Not being offered to parents and patients? Not being taught? When low carb proves over and over superior RESULTS. Why? Because “professionals” try to scare parents with their famous line of “carbs are required for growth” Complete bullsh!t. Ok, so… Let’s have a child grow tall, but at 30 eyesight is diminishing, 40 kidneys begin to fail, 50 loses 3 toes, 60 heart attack. But, that kid grew. What the actual??? Hello everyone! Uncertainty is like the cousin no one wants at the small-town, family gathering. We don't like to admit we are related to him. We don't like engaging with him because he makes us feel uncomfortable. However, we can't get away from him. Here is the thing- to truly grow beyond our normal understanding and experience of self, other, and the world, we actually MUST feel uncertain. We must begin to have our current reality crumble, without a new way having made its appearance yet. Most of us feel extremely scared when we face this part of the growth process, and instead believe there is something wrong. We should never feel uncertain or lost. Otherwise, we have gotten off the "path" somehow. Sound familiar? Our world is going through immense change and transformation right now. It would make sense that a lot of us are feeling an extreme amount of uncertainty as we go through this process. I am allergic to dogs, so couldn't pet him or be close to him as much as I desired, but I let myself love him as much as I could. When riding around in the car, I loved when he would lean on me or be close to me. I refer to myself as his aunty. Anyways, today I want to talk about the opportunity we are granted when being thrown out of routines and feeling disoriented or lost. Travel does this for me, in all the best and worst ways! Visiting my friend was a great practice in the adventure of losing control and orientation, as well as in welcoming chaos and uncertainty, while keeping to my work schedule and remaining resourced. Recently, I participated in recording an interview for an educational summit called, "Finding Freedom in Chaos", with a wonderful healer named Lila! I share a lot about the lessons I have learned around finding an unabiding trust in and appreciation for the messy, painful parts of exploration and healing, that most of us tend to dismiss as extraneous. Namely, the experience of being "lost", is one we tend to panic about. When we can find peace in that part of the process, life holds a certain magic, and deeper sense of connection with it. I actually don’t mind because I wouldn’t have thought to do it haha Honestly though…I hardly can look at the picture without feeling some emotion. 😢 DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE? I’ll tell you what you’re looking at! NON SCALE VICTORIES!!!! 👏👏 Look at our eyes! The left - there’s strain and fatigue. The right - there’s life and rest My hubby is losing his “gobble gobble” (that’s a double chin according to my daycare children) Our faces are thinner…that’s inflammation leaving our bodies! The craziest thing too is I’ve gone down a 1/2 size in my shoes haha - I don’t need a ceiling fan on each night in order to sleep. I didn’t realize how bad my nights were until I now sleep through the night. It’s so amazing! - I feel like I’m living again 👏👏❤️ - Sugar cravings for us both have reduced greatly!! - We’re not intimidated by the scales anymore 🙄🤪 - We both have much better blood pressure readings! 👏👏 We’re healing our gut one day at a time.
