Nice lil day trip for my first time exploring Dinosaur National Monument and I was seemingly the only human out there. Definitely coming back here for a full week next time.
This is the final semester of my nurse practitioner program. In 3 months it will be done, I’m so close to the finish line. The exhaustion and self doubt is setting in. It is immensely easy to fall into defeat, become calloused and discouraged from the uphill journey and struggle. Questioning your motives. Becoming so task and deadline oriented, disconnected from emotions, purpose, passion and self. You lose yourself in the process. Finding myself in a rut, submerged deep in a self made holding tank of stagnate water. This is my attempt to climb out. Needing a little radical pep talk to keep pushing forward. I’m talking out (typing out …), digging deep to release and free the buried passion and intent that was originally planted. Taking a moment to intensively self reflect and soul search. Revisiting the raw and emerging thoughts that sparked the motivation . Most people skip past this road so it’s quiet, but the 31-mile road plus a 2-mile round trip provides a spectacular view of Whirlpool Canyon , the Green river, Echo Park and the Yampa river. Either way this hike was close to where I worked in 2016 and I regret not finding it sooner! ••• Harpers Corner Trail, located at the end of Harpers Corner Road. 3.0 miles total out and back, moderate hike with some short but steep descents. Located in Dinosaur National Monmument, so had to leave the dog behind for this one. 2,500 feet above the river, absolutely did refuse to pose with my boyfriend near a cliff for a picture. So, this is a picture I’ve entered in the National Parks contest. I found out about this spot earlier this year and wanted to go. Got a chance last week and I’m glad I did. Since moving to Colorado seven years ago, hubby and I have set off to explore as much of the state as we could to fully appreciate and experience its diverse and natural beauty. This holiday week we stole away for a couple of days to visit Dinosaur National Monument. Its remote setting in the far northwestern part of the state makes it an elusive destination. The park spanning the border with Utah is as beautiful as it is remote. On our 4th of July hike along Harpers Corner Trail (where we took in this spectacular vista) we passed only four other groups over the three mile out and back.
