The Col du Galibier, at 2642m., was where, yesterday, we bade a sad au revoir to our beloved Hautes Alpes. We definitely won’t be leaving it seven years again! We followed this with the Col d’Iseran - 2770m - then the Cormet de Rosenland, which took us down into Beaufort. Il y a deux ans, j’ai lu Voyage avec un âne dans les Cévennes et quelques jours plus tard, nous débutions, les enfants, mon papa et moi, une aventure magique dans les Alpes avec un âne porteur 🫏✨ Le rapport avec toi, notre maison ? Cette même année, nous te découvrions lors d’une autre randonnée. Avant de faire ton acquisition, nous avons eu le temps de faire des recherches, sur toi, sur la région… et avons découvert que Robert Louis Stevenson n’avait pas voyagé uniquement dans les Cévennes, mais dans l’Avesnois aussi ! Plus exactement sur la rivière. En 1876, il effectue la descente de la Sambre à l’Oise, d’Anvers à Pontoise, en canoë accompagné d’un ami. Il a raconté son périple dans le récit En canoë sur les rivières du Nord, que j’ai lu pour en être certaine : il est bien passé là, juste devant toi (mais c’était un peu avant ta construction). Jour 5 Prendre son temps ⌚ Sans pression, l'objectif est d'arriver à Saint Etienne Vallée Française. Nous rencontrons d'autres marcheurs avec qui nous avons partager un morceau du parcours. Les paysages changent, nous sommes dans le sud. Forêts de pins et de châtaignes ont remplacé les sapins. VOYAGE AVEC UN ÂNE DANS LES CEVENNES [Post 38] Le 17 Décembre 2022, Voyager avec un âne dans les Cévennes, où comment échapper au tapage de la controversée coupe du monde de ballon rond. Pas sûr que Stevenson ait imaginé que son carnet de voyage aurait un jour, près de 150 ans après, une telle destinée. Pour ne vexer personne, je ne parle pas de boycott mais plutôt d’échappatoire. J’ai trouvé dans ce livre un bon prétexte, un alibi, pour fermer les yeux et répondre : "J’peux pas, j’ai rando avec un âne". Alors pendant que les avions quadrillent le ciel de Doha pour acheminer les supporters du monde entier dans les frigos géants du désert, je me promène dans la campagne Cévenole du 19ème siècle, au rythme du pas irrégulier de Modestine, qui malgré les coups d’aiguillon aux fesses, ne mégote pas son plaisir de trainer en chemin. L’âne n’a pas besoin de mouvement. Etre ici ou ailleurs n’a aucune prise sur son état, alors à quoi bon avancer ? En cela, l’âne est un maître spirituel. Il porte en lui sans y penser cette sagesse à laquelle aspirent, dans l’austérité, les moines de Notre Dame des Neiges, et qui a tant fait défaut aux dragons et aux camisards en guerre au cours du IIème siècle avant Modestine. Avec cette compagne éclairée, et néanmoins têtue, nous arpentons l’actuel GR70, célèbre chemin de pèlerinage, et connaissons les galères du voyageur mais surtout ses grands moments de bonheur, particulièrement cette nuit parmi les pins, en harmonie totale avec le cosmos. « Nul ne connait les étoiles, qui n’a dormi, comme disent les Français, à la belle étoile. Il peut connaître leur nom, leur distance et leur magnitude, et pourtant être ignorant de cela seul qui touche l’humanité : leur influence sereine et joyeuse sur l’esprit.» Nous sommes aujourd’hui à la veille de la grande finale. Le monde s’est arrêté devant d’autres étoiles. Filantes, celles-là.
