I very rarely let myself do 'extreme' edits on my images, but here's a shot from yesterday I accidently went a bit wild with the sliders, and then said to myself 'to hell with it, let's go all the way with this'. Day 2 of the 'Maddest way to get to a meeting' AKA Rannoch to Ullswater took us from Balqhuidder to Glasgow via Aberfoyle (Gravelfoyle) and then Drymen and the West Highland Way to Milngavie, then the Allander down to the Kelvin, along the VERY muddy kelvin path and finally onto the Kelvin Walkway and into town. Absolutely awesome if very wet (from the puddles) and pretty muddy trail and great riding. We also had our first mechanical when my gear shifter bolt worked itself free and my shifter launched itself off the bars and into the front wheel - fortunately no damage. Big feed in the city tonight with @highland_tedders and Jess and the rest of the crew who came down from Fort William by road, and an 08:30 meet at Glasgow Green Tomorrow - and not a nice weather forecast for their next leg unfortunately. The ruins of Craigend Castle in Mugdock Country Park on the outskirts of Glasgow. It was built in 1816 in a Regency Gothic style for James Smith of Jordanhill, who was the Son in the Glasgow booksellers John Smith and Son. After passing through a variety of owners, it served a brief stint as the Craigend Castle Zoological Park in the 1940s and 1950s before it was abandoned in 1955. Hard to imagine my granny spending the war in an operations room just like this in Portishead, working as a predictor, targeting the guns. Churchill forbade women from pulling the trigger, but it's hard to see how telling the gunner where to aim is any different.
