Thank you to @snohomish_running_co for a great race today. The weather was perfect 55 at the start and mostly cloudy. When I signed up for this race I was hoping to PR but the last 5 weeks of training got a bit derailed definitely did not run enough leading up to the big day. Decreased sleep and stress this last week didn’t help either. But here is what I DID PR in: ⭐️Race week taper one point! ⭐️Pre Race day hydration and fuel spot on ⭐️I chose the right clothing!! Perfect for the temps! ⭐️I had a plan to get water every 2 miles ⭐️I began little surges at mile 9. I found a group of people running similar paces and stayed close ⭐️I had FUN!! I still want to get that PR and I will but it felt GOOD to put together a great race! Thank you @sayakayoshi for coming out to cheer me on! Yesterday I did a thing…I ran my first Half Marathon 🏃♀️ 13.1 miles in the books and it felt great! The amount of love and support I got from my cheering squad was so amazing (some not pictured here). Even some runners told me how amazing my supporters were haha! First two pictures are from two weekends ago when we started this project that whole side had logs against the fence and the shrub at the end was all the way down. Today we got rid of the stumps and cut a bunch of them down and split wood for almost 4 hours. Hopefully Leon cannot get out of the back yard now and our side of the garage doesn't look like an abandoned house anymore. The boys were a big help big help burning the small stuff and cleaning up; he even got to pit some of the logs on for splitting. Huge thanks to Xavier for lending us the equipment and helping and my mom and Pam for helping! It looks so much better and I feel good about it. July was a busy month. I packed up moved away from Athens to Colorado for a new job, turned a scary 27 years old, met some new mountain animal friends. Ran at least a 5k in every state I passed through during my drive. Had some killer bike rides over mountain passes and runs straight up mountains and ski slopes. Hiked several 14ers. Met new friends and running/cycling buddies. And had one of my highest volume/elevation/hours training months of my life. Can't wait to see what's next. Day 2 of the journey... Planned to run a little long today, but not 10 miles! I am a long way removed from the days I trained to run at an 8:20 pace for 26.2 miles. It was slow. I can feel the extra pounds. No, I'm not training for another marathon, I just needed to get out and go for miles. Knee held up well. The most I've run since starting longer distances again is 8. Planning on maybe 1 longer run a week and focusing on resistance, circuits and shorter, harder interval training runs for cardio. It rained on me a little, which was nice. The trail was green, the music was flowing and I sort of just got lost in it all. Tomorrow will be an active recovery and core focused work.
