BTS from my wee week… ✨ Inside PYC : COMMIT TO IT - April challenge is almost complete 💪🏼 3 habits we were sticking to every day for the month of April. Marking 35 essays and dissertations is super fun. Also back in the lab this week. First time in a loonnggggg time that it’s been me collecting my data and not one of my students! So that was fun 💃🏼 Deload week this week and on Saturday decided to go for a zone 2 run. Set out for 10km but the route I took didn’t quite get to 10km (about 9.something 😅). At 54.42 this was my longest ever run though and felt pretty good! Didn’t feel so good having to run around O at rugby after though 😂 Facebook reminded me it’s been 4 years since me and @maximise.physiofitness did our live home workouts during lock down! Two nights a week we went live taking people through both strength and conditioning training! Got a couple of pats on the back from Joe for our dinners 😍 Ending the week in Portugal for my beaut friends hen weekend isn’t the worst thing in the world 💃🏼🥰 #projectYOU #weeklyroundup #sunday #weekvibes

Mental disorders are conditions that affect an individual’s state of mind, whether that be emotionally, behaviorally, or causing a change in thinking. There are many different types of mental disorders that display all sorts of symptoms, here are a few below… 1. Anxiety disorders - Anxiety disorders are a very common type of disorder that lead to the individual displaying signs of nervousness, worry or fear. Examples include: panic disorders, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, or PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). 2. Mood disorders - As the name suggests, mood disorders are disorders causing changes in one’s mood, by making them more sad or irritable than usual. Depression, bipolar disorder, and persistent depressive disorder are all mood disorders. 3. Eating disorders - These disorders affect the individual’s relationship with food, and often impacts their health and daily lifestyle due to lack of proper nutrition, and can even cause health issues like death or heart problems. Binge-eating, bulimia nervosa, and anorexia nervosa are the most common types of eating disorders. 4. Personality disorders - Personality disorders cause changes in a person’s personality, and behavior in a social setting or group of people. Avoidant personality disorder, paranoid personality disorder, antisocial personality disorder, and narcissistic personality disorder are all examples of personality disorders. 5. Psychotic disorders - This kind of mental disorder causes abnormal thinking, often leading to a loss of touch with reality, usually through delusions and hallucinations. With social media practically bombarding us with unattainable bodies, and ever growing beauty standards, it’s not surprising to learn that eating disorders are alarmingly common. But eating disorders aren’t all just about restricting food intake, in-fact, they can present themselves in many ways. Anorexia Nervosa - Also referred to as anorexia, it’s characterized by a consuming fear of gaining weight. There are two main types, the restricting kind, and the binging and purging category. Both can lead to distorted body image along with a range of health issues. Bulimia Nervosa - Bulimia is shown through cycles of binge eating a large amount of calories in a short time frame and then purging those calories. Purging does not have to be through just throwing up, either, it can show itself in excessive exercise and use of diet pills and it can lead to many of the same health issues as anorexia. Binge Eating Disorder - People suffering from BED may find themselves having frequent sessions where they overeat rapidly in a short amount of time.
