Le désir n’est plus, l’excitation redescend et les sens se relâchent. Mais quand il s’agit du Montcalmes Languedoc Blanc, c’est totalement l’inverse. 👁️ Le visuel est irrésistible avec cette robe or intense et éclatante. Elle capte la lumière et illumine le verre. La jambe est légère et fine. 👃 Au premier nez, nous sommes à mi-chemin entre la Bourgogne et le Rhône septentrional. Les parfums sont intenses sans être entêtants. De légères touches beurrées se diffusent derrière un fruit jaune mielé. On paper this blend could have been from Medoc in Bordeaux, but it is made as a rosé and it is Australian!😊 This rosé is now 7 years, and has such exciting power and finesse! No doubt - with a Medoc blend you would expect ageing potential, but this is the first time we experience this from a rosé wine. Here in Fiji we have paired this wine with various fish dishes incluuding a yellow fin tuna steak. Delicious! This well made rosé has pronounced aromas of strawberries and cheeries. . . Ho incontrato @tenuta_asinara al Vinitaly e sono stata subito attratta dal Cayenna Submariner ed ho scoperto una storia affascinante. Non vino imbottigliato e messo ad affinare sott’acqua, ma uve! 💠 si tratta di una tecnica già adoperata dagli antichi romani che immergevano direttamente in mare le uve appena vendemmiate, trasportate in ceste. 🚁 oggi la famiglia Sassu adopera tecniche moderne, come l’uso dell’elicottero per immergere le uve di Vermentino nelle acque del Golfo dell’Asinara che conferiscono al vino un sapore davvero unico! L’acqua di mare, salina e salmastra si respira nel naso che odora di onde e schiuma di mare. Il gusto è freschissimo, salino (manco a dirlo…), ricorda i ricci di mare, le ostriche. They source a number of high quality red wine grape varieties from their Wild Horse Peak Mountain Vineyards - approx 500 m.a.s.l. The yields on the vineyards on Wild Horse Peak are historically lower than on the valley floor. The colour and the tannin development in the fruit are therefore higher and the wines are more concentrated and intense. Again we are impressed. The quality of this 2016 Sangiovese is high. You would definitely think you were in Tuscany - possibly in the Chianti Classico area. The colour is clear ruby red. Pronounced aromas of cherries and bluberries. On the palate - fruity, rather complex with notes of ripe berries and spices. Medium body. Pleasant acidity and a long finish. If you are in the LA area, we would definitely recommend a visit further south to South Coast Winery in Temecula. Such an exciting range of quality reds! This winery is a small quality producer. Only 418 cases (i.e. 2500 bottles) of the 2017 Blanc de Blancs were produced. That’s pretty exclusive! We are big fans of Blanc de Blancs Champagne, and having tasted champagne clones from many regions around the world, we have found some products getting rather close to “the real thing”. High up on our list are some excellent products from the UK and some Italian clones as well. What a big surprise to find a Methode Champenoise Blanc de Blancs from Temecula Valley of a 90+ quality! In a blind tasting we would definitely have guessed that this was a high quality Champagne. The colour is straw yellow / golden. Pronounced aromas of ripe citrus, biscuits and minerals. One the palate – tiny bubbles, notes of minerals and with a long and elegant finish. This is definitely a high quality Blanc de Blancs! Very impressive! PV is a red grape native to the Bordeaux region of France. It is a slow maturing grape with high levels of tannin. Wild Horse Peak Mountain Vineyards are located not far from the South Coast Winery at approx. 500 m.a.s.l. Most of the grapes for their quality reds are grown there. The Meritage 2014 has dark ruby colour. Pronounced aromas of ripe dark berries, licorice and leather. On the palate – warm, soft and fruity with good acidity and fine grained tannins. Quite complex.
