• Quinta das Marés 2020 @lesalesvinhos Já tinha esta referência debaixo de olho há algum tempo, pelo projeto de onde já conhecia outras referências mas também pela curiosidade do blend Jampal/Vital. Duas castas de Lisboa, mal amadas e quase abandonada. Sendo que a primeira esteve quase extinta, acabou relançada em grande por um outro projeto que também vale a pena ter consideração o @manzwine_ Foi após a ida do @pedroluz_somm ao podcast @meiarolhacast (vejam o episódio, está muito bom) que decidi comprar esta garrafa. Apresenta uma cor escura, de limão maduro, a dar um ar dos seus seis meses de estágio em barrica (apenas um terço do vinho). No nariz é ligeiramente aromático, com notas de pêra, marmelo, frutos secos e uma ligeira doçura. Na boca é fresco, com elevada acidez e um ligeiro amargo. Deixa ainda notas de untuosidade, fruto da batonnage e do estágio sobre as borras finas, e alguma mineralidade com um final bastante longo e persistente. Um vinho intenso e complexo, com muita coisa a acontecer. Muito interessante. Vinificação: • Recurso a uma enologia clássica, sem uso excessivo de antioxidantes. Fermenta com leveduras indígenas e 30% do lote passa por barricas velhas de 228L, onde estagia por 6 meses. It was wonderful to visit the @realwinefair on Monday with loads of our team at @glouglou_sy1 and, as well as tasting so many amazing wines and catching up with old friends, a high point was a seminar with two heroes of mine and of wine from Alsace, Christian Binner and Jean-Pierre Frick, in conversation with Christina Rasmussen - “Wine Philosophy in Practice: Idea to Glass. Exploring the interconnections of viticulture and the wine in the glass, as well as cultural perceptions and interpretations of wine.” Which sounds a mouth full but was really interesting, thought provoking and enjoyable. (Especially to a self confessed wine nerd 🧐) Not sure what Jean-Pierre was demonstrating in the photo but there was lots of talk of making wines with no additives, the response of vines to climate change, how wine making needs to respond, and how, as with contemporary art, the unfamiliar can be confusing and difficult to begin with but with time and an open mind becomes exciting and involving. And they showed the results of their work by serving a few of their wonderful wines. Ai soliti antipasti ed alcuni tagli di carne, Abbiniamo Malleolus, un vino che conosciamo bene e che ci ha stupito per il basso prezzo a cui il ristorante lo proponeva (35 EUR). Questo Ribera del Duero matura 18 mesi in botti nuove di rovere di Allier. Nel calice è rosso rubino intenso. Lo abbiamo trovato complesso e lungo nel naso, persistente e di carattere sul palato. Profumo di mora, frutti neri, cioccolato, vaniglia e spezie dolci. In bocca un corpo medio, tannini vivaci ed un’ottima acidità; note di prugna, bacche nere, tabacco, caffè e minerali. Sicuramente merita di riposare qualche anno in cantina. 🇬🇧 We are still in Brihuega, this evening we dine at the Villa de Brihuega Restaurant. To the usual appetizers and some cuts of meat, we pair Malleolus, a wine that we know well and that surprised us with the low price at which the restaurant was offering it (EUR 35). This Ribera del Duero ages 18 months in new Allier oak barrels. In the glass it is deep ruby red. We found it complex and long in the nose, persistent and with character on the palate. Scent of blackberry, black fruits, chocolate, vanilla and sweet spices. In the mouth a medium body, lively tannins and excellent acidity; notes of plum, black berries, tobacco, coffee and minerals.
