On our last two Disney trips, we didn’t do much table service dining because we were just so happy to be back in the parks and wanted to enjoy our favorite quick bites on the go. On our June 2022 trip, the only dining reservation we made was for brunch at Wine Bar George at Disney Springs and we loved it! So for today’s #TreatTuesday , I’m sharing what we ate. . We had the most romantic 5 year anniversary dinner last night @winebargeorge 💕 #hosted . Our anniversary isn't for a few more days but since we are having our staycation celebration I figured it would be the perfect time to celebrate. We would go here for date nights all the time before Brooklyn and even before we were married. . We love going in and trying by new menu items with old favorites. Snack Saturday!!😋 This one is a new one for me and I absolutely devoured it! 🧀These are the Mac & Cheese Bites from 🧺The Basket at Wine Bar George! The Basket is a small walk up window serving up some of the offerings of the attached sit down restaurant, Wine Bar George!🍷It’s a great way to try some of the food without having a full sit down meal. 🍅Normally I’m not a huge marinara sauce fan, sometimes I even scrape the sauce off my pizza if its too much. As you can imagine then, when I first got them I was a little hesitant. However… I was debating licking the paper bowl (and I did… just a little bit🤤) These bites were crispy and light, not like the plastic cheese you get in normal mac and cheese bites. Open daily for lunch and dinner with brunch on the weekends, they feature a collection of small plates, boards, larger meals, and desserts. Over 200 wines are available by the glass, bottle, and even ounce. Reservations recommended, but they do have a counter-service option: The Basket- perfect for picnics and grab-and-go items. On today’s Foodie Friday, let’s talk about Wine Bar George! Wine Bar George is a small restaurant and bar located in Disney Springs. This restaurant is available for brunch, lunch, and dinner, with small plates, charcuterie boards, an extensive wine list, and more. We were able to enjoy this venue for brunch after one of the runDisney races during marathon weekend, and it definitely lived up to all of the good things we heard! We both opted for a glass of wine to start. I had the white, Warren had the red. Our server was very knowledgeable about the wine list and the menu. She was able to help with Warren’s gluten allergy, and help make recommendations for him. He ordered the gluten-free steak and eggs with roasted potatoes and sriracha hollandaise sauce. I ordered the burrata with avocado and bacon on a ciabatta. Both dishes were fantastic, along with our wine selections. We will definitely be back! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for brunch, especially after a runDisney race! The food and staff were excellent. George, the owner, is also known to make appearances to talk to his guests and even pour some wine! Are you hungry yet? I made zero restaurant reservations for my 2024 WDW Marathon Weekend trip. This was partially due to some uncertainty about the precise nature of our park plan, and partially thanks to my new and exciting paranoia re: getting sick and missing it. By consequence, most of our meals were of the counter service variety, but we were able to walk up to a couple bars without trouble. Family Trip Recap: Arrival Day One of our favorite ways to start our Walt Disney World vacations is with a trip to Disney Springs and a monorail crawl! Disney Springs is the ‘downtown’ area of Walt Disney World. It’s bursting with shops, food and entertainment. Buses from the resort to Disney Springs start around 10am. This trip we got to our resort, Pop Century, a little before 10. We checked our luggage in at the resort since our room wasnt ready yet, but before that first bus came we got a text that our room was ready. So we went and got our luggage, brought it to our room, took a moment to freshen up then went back to catch the next bus. Once at Disney Springs, two of our favorite spots to hit, food wise, is Jock Lindsey’s Hanger bar and the Basket. Jock’s is an Indiana Jones themed spot with great drinks and delicious food. And if you have not had the Mac and Cheese Bites from Wine Bar George, make sure to make this your next stop. These are the best grab and go! After a little window shopping, we jumped on a bus to the Polynesian resort. There we checked our names in to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and waited at the Tambu Lounge to be called back. Once we finished our drinks at Sam’s, we hopped onto the monorail for the next spot, Enchanted Rose at the Grand Floridian. This Beauty and the Beast themed bar has the best Truffle Fries, with some upscale drinks. Back on the monorail, we headed to the last stop, the Contemporary. At the Contemporary, we went to the lounge of Steakhouse 71 and enjoyed a fishbowl to share with some onion rings. @brettleinard and I had a fantastic experience at @winebargeorge last Monday. It was very educational (for us, as wine enthusiasts) and was equally as fun!! It was great hearing George’s stories! I highly recommend it; it was a top highlight of our trip. We’ve been fans of Wine Bar George since it first opened … & we were so happy that this event luckily occurred during my birthday trip! George is one of 273 Master Sommeliers in the world (!!), and owner of Wine Bar George. He shared with us how to taste wine like a professional with a “blind” tasting of six different wines. (And I did quite well with my guesses! I got one correct that Brett missed 😂 😊). It was a 90-minute event and included cheese and charcuterie.
