Disney Springs roundup! At Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, I tried out the adobo chicken tacos. These contained adobo-braised chicken, pico de gallo, queso fresco, lime crema, jalapeños, and red cabbage. They were good, however, the cabbage was a bit much so I didn’t eat all of it. I also tried Reggie’s revenge drink. It was interesting. I liked it, but wouldn’t order it very often if I was looking for a drink. Next up, we headed to the top floor of the Cocoa-Cola store to try another flight. Our friend that was with us hadn’t been there the first time Bryan and I tried it the first go around. I think some of the drinks might have been different (I haven’t checked my original list yet), but it’s always an interesting adventure. I liked the Bonaqua Fruits Apple Pear from Germany, Sparletta Sparberry from Zimbabwe, Fanta Melon Frosty from Thailand, and Fanta Strawberry from Panama. Stoney Tangawizi was not good. Mazoe Blackberry was okay, but it tasted like a flat Fanta. Frestea Green Tea and Honey wasn’t bad for being a mix of things I don’t like. Del Valle Jamaica and Nada was funky. Fanta Kolita was okay, but had a flowery taste. Thums Up tasted like a flat Coke. Beverly is nasty and I don’t know why I opted to taste test it again. Sprite Cucumber isn’t good unless you really like cucumber. Aquarius Libre tasted like a very watered down Sprite. Fuse Tea Iced Tea Berries might be good if you like tea which I do not. Inca Kola tasted like a very watered down Mellow Yellow maybe…that’s the closest thing I can come up with. Fanta Sour Plum was not good. It tasted like a berry Coke of some sort. We also tried out the pretzel and cheese while at the Cocoa-Cola store. It was good, but not great. I finally tried the banana chocolate chip cookie from Gideon’s Bakehouse I don’t like walnuts so this wasn’t great. Last Thursday I had one of the best nights I’ve had in a LONG time. I was honored to spend a few hours at Jock Lyndsey’s bar at Disney Springs with a bunch of great skippers from the Magic Kingdom. It’s also been a long time since I’ve hung out with skippers who love their job as much as they do. They’re also hysterical on the boat or on land. They give me hope for the future after a disappointing trip to the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland. The highlight was being given a leather bracelet that says “Skipper” and I did the ceremony for it and everything. It was unexpectedly emotional and I plan to be buried wearing the bracelet. Another successful Disney Springs trip! I didn’t buy nearly as much as I usually do, but I still had lots of fun. I was able to grab some cookies from Gideon’s Bakehouse (a must!) and tried out Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar (because the Indiana Jones fan in me had to!) and it was tasty. Got me an Aerophile pin to commemorate my return trip on the giant balloon. Another must is the photo op. This time it was Luca but there was also a three sided one for the new Disney+/Hulu bundle including one for the Golden Girls! I felt like I should be eating a piece of cheesecake. 🤭 We tried the Coca Cola Around the World flight again so our friend who’s with us could try it too. Our final stop on our Progressive Dinner through Disney Springs was at the famous Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar. This location is themed to Indiana Jones and is full of fun “Easter eggs” and fantastic eats and drinks. We enjoyed cocktails like Reggie’s Revenge and The Fountain of Youth and then, since we were celebrating a birthday, we had shots called “Chocolate Cake” which were feats of science as they had sugar, lemon, and some different spirits than when combined tasted like a delicious, rich piece of chocolate cake. I made zero restaurant reservations for my 2024 WDW Marathon Weekend trip. This was partially due to some uncertainty about the precise nature of our park plan, and partially thanks to my new and exciting paranoia re: getting sick and missing it. Family Trip Recap: Arrival Day One of our favorite ways to start our Walt Disney World vacations is with a trip to Disney Springs and a monorail crawl! Disney Springs is the ‘downtown’ area of Walt Disney World. It’s bursting with shops, food and entertainment. Buses from the resort to Disney Springs start around 10am. This trip we got to our resort, Pop Century, a little before 10. We checked our luggage in at the resort since our room wasnt ready yet, but before that first bus came we got a text that our room was ready. So we went and got our luggage, brought it to our room, took a moment to freshen up then went back to catch the next bus. Once at Disney Springs, two of our favorite spots to hit, food wise, is Jock Lindsey’s Hanger bar and the Basket. Jock’s is an Indiana Jones themed spot with great drinks and delicious food. And if you have not had the Mac and Cheese Bites from Wine Bar George, make sure to make this your next stop. These are the best grab and go! After a little window shopping, we jumped on a bus to the Polynesian resort. There we checked our names in to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and waited at the Tambu Lounge to be called back. Once we finished our drinks at Sam’s, we hopped onto the monorail for the next spot, Enchanted Rose at the Grand Floridian. This Beauty and the Beast themed bar has the best Truffle Fries, with some upscale drinks. Back on the monorail, we headed to the last stop, the Contemporary. At the Contemporary, we went to the lounge of Steakhouse 71 and enjoyed a fishbowl to share with some onion rings. After me, my dad, and my friend left MegaCon, we went over to Disney Springs for lunch! Still very much in cosplay, although I gave a break to my coat and my props this time as they were in the car. I did stop by Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar- I didn’t eat or drink there though, but I did grab pictures! I appreciated all the little Indy Easter eggs present in the decor of the place. After me, my dad, and my friend left MegaCon, we went over to Disney Springs for lunch! Still very much in cosplay, although I gave a break to my coat and my props this time as they were in the car. Trip Review - Day 7: Many Meetings. Despite the cold and rain, this was always going to be a special day for us, as it always is when good friends come together. We're not really used to the cold in Florida, but it wasn't going to stop us enjoying our typical morning in DAK, riding the rides, and gathering animal photos (which we'll share here in the coming weeks). 🐯 We left the park around mid day, for brunch at the always wonderful Boathouse restaurant at Disney Springs. Here we met our friends @jef8465 and @pedrojcar28 whom we we were so glad to reconnect with this trip, after 2 years of travel dates just not working out, and @thedonofdisney who makes meet-ups so much more convenient by living nearby! 😁 After Boathouse, we made a short sojourn to Jock's, possibly the shortest bar-crawl in history 🤣🤣 before bidding a fond fairwell, and began setting a course for Animal Kingdom Lodge. There another long-awaited reunion beckoned with our buddies, @ryanwalshphoto and @heatherlwalsh Guys, you are such an awesome family, and it was so special to be able to greet you on your arrival day! The start of more great adventures! We spent a simple evening in the lobby of AKL Jambo House, drank festive welcome drinks from the pop-up bar there, and just caught up. AKL was our first and only resort for many years, and it was so wonderful to be back. We were joined too by @bobkellygo , who we'd planned to meet right through the travel restrictions, and we were truly delighted to finally get to say hello (🍹🍹) in person. Finally saying our goodnights, we headed off to The Mara for a late supper, 🍕and of course, a Nyala brownie! So, with all that NYE shenanigans out of the way, where were we? Ah yes, the trip review, Day 2 (evening). Are we sitting comfortably? Then we'll begin... again 😁😁 Leaving Jock's, we continued touring with our friends @wdwtwit and @emilycarter1247 finishing up at DVC's Top of the World lounge, the "Villains Lair." I'm not quite sure who the villains are in this equation... maybe it's us! 🤣🤣🤩 but we had booked in advance for the Wicked Wind Down package, which was just as well as we really needed to wind down!! 😄 The package includes a reserved table, one "small" plate, one beverage (including alcohol /cocktails) per person, along with the famous chocolate cake... and a nice spot out on the balcony to enjoy the MK fireworks. This offering is available to DVC members (with a direct contract) and their guests, and at $55 per guest, made for a nice, civilised end to the evening. Trip review - Day 2 (Pt1): A Magic Kingdom, a Homecoming and an aircraft hanger... bar 😁 Despite the long travel day and late night before, we're always still on GMT the first few days of a trip... and being wide awake at 5am really helps with being ready for all the 7am nonsense Disney has imposed on guests these past few years 😒😒. Sailing across Seven Seas Lagoon from the Poly is, however, one of our very favourite things to do, and we were soon on our (very chilly) way to MK, and early opening 🛥🏰 Going against the inclination to collapse into a hot mocha upon arrival, we instead made our way to Sleepy Hollow Bridge, and were in prime position to shake off the cobwebs by rope dropping Big Thunder - love to start a trip with The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness! 🚂🚂⛰️ Now, there was no other agenda but Starbucks, and energy replenished, we joined up with our friends and took in some of Tomorrowland's more leisurely attractions. Happily, we'd linked accounts in advance, so were able to secure an early boarding group for Tron, and finish our morning riding one of our favourites together as a group - which only adds to the fun! Soon after, we bid @disney_redefined fairwell, and headed off for a rendezvous with Disney Spring's best fried chicken before finishing up the afternoon at Jock Lindsey's err... Holiday Bar!
