Engage & Collaborate. There was an influx of new patient groups, primarily from Asia, at the International Kidney Cancer Coalition conference held this year in Incheon, South Korea. Topics such as patient navigation and palliative care were near and dear to the hearts of all the patient representatives, making this year's agenda an interesting change, each one vital and significant in its own way. Frequently underrepresented and seldom loud are the voices of low-middle income countries, sometimes referred to as third world countries. When IKCC heard from its Asian affiliates they were pleased that they made this welcoming change in this year's meeting. Embracing Hope. The Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Silchar, Assam is headed by Dr. Ravi R. Kannan. Dr. Kannan has won two of Asia's most prestigious honours: the Ramon Magsaysay Award and the Padma Shri, India's highest civilian honours. Dr. Kannan has helped nearly 7,000 people without charging them any money. In addition to offering free medical care, the hospital also helps cancer patients with housing, food, and securing employment. On a yearly basis, the hospital sees an average of 5,000 low-income patients for cancer care, with another 20,000 receiving subsidised treatment and follow-ups. In order to decrease the long travel time that patients from rural areas in the interior of Tripura and the rest of the state endure for cancer treatment, Dr. Kannan plans to decentralise cancer care by establishing smaller hospitals around the state. 22 years ago today the 26th February 2002 my whole world was turned upside down for me, my 2 beautiful children and my family😢❤️ I am so very blessed and grateful to have survived having a brain tumour the size of a golf ball that was embedded deeply in my brain. It was benign but if it hadn’t been removed I would have been like a vegetable within 2 years and dead within 5 years. It was my Grandma Kay’s birthday on 26th February and I carry her memory and picture with me every day. I believe she took care of me 22 years ago and am so very grateful. I miss her so much. Happy Heavenly Birthday Grandma Kay love you forever xx ❤️🙏 I have 3 plates and 6 screws in my head - one of which is loose! I genuinely have a loose screw!! The chronic pain I live with everyday is excruciating, and if I let it take over my life I wouldn’t be able to function and do what I do ❤️ No one understands the pain but those who are suffering. Somehow we find the strength from within and if there are days we just want to cry or be held and loved that’s ok 🤗❤️ With every mental and emotional bit of strength for the past 22 years I have worked hard at being in control of my pain. There are times it has been so challenging and exhausting to manage but I get through it every time. I learnt powerful techniques through NLP, Life Coaching, Fitness, Meditation, Reiki and Crystal Healing and help others through their pain and trauma too ❤️🌟 There are so very many people suffering their own pain in silence whatever type of pain it may be and always putting on a brave face to keep going every day however devastating, exhausting and agonising it may be 🤗❤️ It’s ok to talk about it. It’s ok to make others aware of your pain mentally and physically. Reach out to someone who you know will be able to support you. Be kind to yourself as you are kind to others and give yourself the love and nurturing you need too 🤗❤️ You are amazing and brave and beautiful and I send you much love and healing energy full of light, peace from within and happiness. ❤️🤗❤️🤗

At Carter Road, Bandra, V Care was a part of the World Cancer Day celebration that was organised by the Nargis Dutt Foundation. The best method to help people impacted by cancer has always been to work together in partnerships and collaborations. It was an honour for Team V Care to collaborate with the Nargis Dutt Foundation on this important campaign to raise awareness and encourage early detection. Distinguished medical professionals discussed concrete steps we should take to combat the taboo surrounding cancer. A couple of years ago I read one of @bryonygordon books and feel in love with the idea behind @mentalhealthmates as knowing what exercise did for my own mental health and got me though some of my own hardest times. Two years ago this month I started up @mentalhealthmateschilterns and today I held the first walk of the year. I am always amazed by the support I get for the group even today and can’t thank everyone enough from those that come on the walks to those that are on the social groups for making me still keep this group going. I had just been talking about dad earlier today since his birthday is coming up. Then, when I walked into the store, this was in the entrance. It was the only one around, so I knew I had to get it. Cardinals have been symbols for our family for years before dad passed, and from time to time, they show up just when I need the reminder. I remember last Christmas Eve on the way to grandma's we saw a cardinal. It's the small little things that remind me it's okay because he's still watching me. We are heading into our 2nd holiday season without him. It's tough, but I hold these little "signs" close. Truly, grief is a process. If you're going through something similar, just know it's okay to feel and allow yourself grace. Find your people who you can lean on or, if needed, don't be afraid of asking for help to work through it. The root of joy is gratefulness and that energy is contagious. V Care is excited for the collaboration with Kolhapur Cancer Centre in initiating the very 1st support group meeting. Paalvi--a support group has been formed for patients, survivors and caregivers. Sometimes quietly listening is a strong form of communication; creating space, giving attention and validating someone else is more valuable than anything we could ever say. We had people from different walks of life during this meeting who shared their journey from diagnosis to cure along with those who are currently undergoing treatment.
