We descended the slopes of Ben Vane to the East towards Loch Sloy Dam with Ben Vorlich in our sights. No path to follow down, a grassy boulderfield greeted us instead. As we got close to the dam we saw lots of beautiful lambs including this little guy, I love this time of year! 1/5/23

Another group hike completed and this time we got two Munro's ticked off...Ben Vorlich and Stuc a Chroin. A mixed day weather wise with periods of very low visibility, heavy rain and high winds but then some brighter spells too. Some good distance and ascent with around 15km and 4000ft so definitely gets the legs going. Also took the more difficult option going up Stuc a Chroin taking in a good scrambling section to improve the confidence on steep ground and learn some new skills in challenging conditions. ๐๐ Next one with be Friday 26th April ๐๐ Well done folks! @carol.scotland @andyw_852 @pamelareid21 @zoe.kellett @_nicollecam_ Bob Ferguson

Embarked on a scenic walk up Glen Vorlich with @jenscotney & @sherlockthebeagle1 and we discovered a beautiful small path up past some stunning waterfallsโฆ half way up we bumped into an old gentleman clearing the path with his dog at his side. We strike up a conversation asking if weโre okay to be on the footpath. The elderly gentleman said it was okay and the footpath was in his garden and he was happy for us to be walking there though normally itโs not open to public till May. I then asked for his dogโs name and then his name, which is Sandy. After some pleasant small talk we carried on up the pathโฆwe then realised who Sandy was! โฐ๏ธ Ben Vorlich 05/11/23 Day 3: Whilst others went off climbing my group hiked Ben Vorlich. Overlooking Ben and the reservoir, we lucked out with dry weather for a fairly steep hike up. I did a little bit of lying leading up some sore heads up the hill (we were โ100 metres awayโ for about 600 metres ๐คฃ) but we all made it up for a nice spot of lunch overlooking the Arrochar Alps we had hiked the day before. Then Conor, Theo, Daisy and i started to get a chill so we trail ran down the mountain and met up with the climbers at the bottom. Good end to a great weekendโฐ๏ธ๐ฅพ P.S. Ran the 2nd long leg for Edinburgh AC at the Scottish 6/4 Road Relays in Livingston. Tried night time Orienteering on Whinny Hill. I was shit at it but it was good. Went to the Barrowlands to see Feeder. After a really wet and windy equinox and start to the Spring it was wonderful to get two days of good weather back to back. So it was up Glenartney on the bike ๐ด to the shielings at the foot of Ben Vorlich. From there itโs onward and upwards on foot. I thought this might be the last time we had snow on the tops this far south so didnโt want to miss the opportunity for once last yomp in the snow. I was in just a base layer all the way to the summit then the layers and down jacket went on but I happily sat up there for half an hour, eating my lunch, chatting and soaking up the sun โ๏ธ before I got too cold. Wild Ben Vorlich. A picture perfect day with unlimited views all round. The lower slopes were remarkably warm in the sunshine and the top was free of wind chill with barely a breath. Stuc a Chroin's rocky flank was a dramatic back drop to our summit sarnies and the snowman was an amusing addition to other walkers and the ubiquitous raven. Yesterday I was supposed to meet a friend at the base of Ben Vorlich, but sadly the universe had other ideas for him, so I was off on my own again. Maybe just as well really as I huffed and puffed all the way to the summit ๐ It was cloudy the whole time, until I got to the top ๐๏ธ and Mother Nature revealed herself to me, the sun โ๏ธ showered me with warmth and beauty and I just couldn't stop myself from smiling and "wow-ing". I wandered across the summit a few times, caught a Brocken spectre ๐ and slight cloud inversion as the cloud moved around then virtually disappeared. It was just Vorlich and I until the sun had gone down, then I spotted the moon ๐, who was beautifully pink early on. I then started my descent crunching my way down in my crampons. I really needed this. I only wish my friend had been there to enjoy the mountain ๐ and the sunset with me.
