Ben Avon, beinn a bhurid and their 7 Munro tops. 32 miles - 2000m ascent A puncture for Andy 3 miles in meant he had to repair the puncture and leave it to dry so off we trotted on foot. A quick jaunt to the secret howf then it was up over the first 2 Munro tops of Avon. The 2 out the back of Avons torr are a 8km detour both ways so it was really good to get these done as it was giving me a headache thinking about it😂😅 down to the sneck after Avon then over to the first Munro top of beinn a bhurid before another long detour out to the outlying Munro top, however a pleasant surprise to have found a plane wreckage and plaque that I’d never known was there. All that was left now was the return back and up to the summit of beinn a bhuird then the walk out to the south top to head down and back to the bikes. Got back to the van at 10:35 and had 25 mins to get to ballater for food with a 19minute drive to get there…. Got there and the cash machine was broke, pulled up outside a pub and asked if they knew where there was another and they said nope just that one. Then some legend of a woman hands me £40 to get our food and we meet her at the Chinese to transfer the money back to her. Absolute life saver and there is some good people still left in the world🥰 thankfully Andy’s leg held out ok after last week hobbling off the hill. 📍Shenavall Bothy Fisherfield spam continues (as do my stiff legs from the walk). Two nights spent in Shenavall Bothy might not be for those who want a quieter time however this was a pretty special place to base our walk from. What with it being midweek we didn’t expect many people, but there was a fair crowd both nights. Everyone had different, fairly big hill objectives meaning bed time was civilised. The night before our walk we got to chat to those returning and then a man who was doing some neighbouring Corbetts lit the fire especially for us getting back after we’d done the massive round. Hidden by the giants until the last corner, the bothy comes on you suddenly on the walk in. We could, however, see it teasing us for about 3.5km on the way back, and 1km of that was spent navigating the deep, swampy slime that was the final hurdle between us, the fire and our sleeping bags (and the celebratory drams 🥃). Had a good laugh reading the bothy book and seeing many people mention the ‘swarms of midge’ and felt pretty smug that we’d had a midge free stay in such a wild bothy. One I’ve looked forward to visiting for a while and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The walk out after our mountain day, however, was the longest 7.5km of my life…doesn’t help you need to reascend and descend almost 400m! 🏠 ⛰️ 🌅

Day 3 saw Emma and Lewis head out with myself upto the Inn Pin and on to Sgurr na Banachdaich. After a big day the day before, we found a steady pace and headed up the spurr. Lewis was apprehensive yesterday but full of confidence, we all made light work of the walk in. For those who have done the Inn pin, it can be an Intimidating piece of rock that stands proud and Lewis said he'd seen enough. Deciding today wasn't the day, his partner flew up the pin. It takes a lot to say no so well done mate. I know your now more determined to crack it. We made our way over to Sgurr na Banachdaich and headed down. Not quite as chilly as the day but an all round great day. Followed by a meal in The @theoldinnskye to celebrate a great 3 days and some more munros in the bag . Day 2 saw Michael and Louise joined by friends Emma and Lewis. We got Nate onboard and we all met up and headed off..we were soon on the summit, wandering where all the blue skies forecast, were. Onwards northbound to Sgurr Alasdair. A brief stop at the top of the stone chute and both teams made our way over sgurr thearlaich and onto Collies Ledge before topping out on Sgurr Mhich Choinnic. It was Lewis's first time out on the ridge and boy you did good with your fear of heights, showing no fear most of the day. Great work everybody and well done. thank you all for a memorable day. A great few days with Michael and Louise in the chilly northerlies. Day 1 saw us head upto an empty Inn Pin and onto Sgurr na Banachdaich. Great laughs and both smashing the pin with some views that they didnt get on their last visit. . Day 3 saw them out with Nate, thanks bud for delivering an awesome day and smashed the Northern Cuillin Munros, including a descent down King's Cave chimney. Ben alder 6 munros plus the 5 Munro tops - 3 of them being massive detours 40 miles - 2736m ascent What should have taken us 13 hours, ended up taking us 17 and a half after andy slipped and tore his quad muscle. The steep unforgiving pull up the side of alder killed off his leg, and he literally hobbled round the last 2 munros. Going downhill was a massive struggle but we got there slowly getting back to the van at 12:40am. This is the exact reason we carry headtorches all year round and not just in winter. I think most people would have called for mountain rescue - being so far away from any road, but we just walked/hobbled at a slow pace back to the bikes for the cycle out.
