🥾 New walk route: Craigmore, Aberfoyle 🥾 Craigmore’s southern cliffs tower over Aberfoyle village, making a tempting target for a short but satisfying hillwalk. A waymarked trail from The Lodge Visitor Centre winds to the approximate halfway point, with a steeper, more direct alternative taking a more southerly route. Once above the treeline there are excellent views across the infant River Forth, while Ben Ledi and Loch Ard – the highlight – are revealed as height is gained. Someone explain to me why it took until yesterday to make my way to Loch Katrine 😅 I've known for years that it's a scenic loch, I've been in the area many times, recommended this very day trip to others - but somehow I never managed to do it myself! Well, that's finally over!!! 🙌🏻 I drove to Loch Katrine from Glasgow (about 1h 20min & extremely scenic), hired an e-bike from @katrinewheelz and cycled 14 miles along the loch to Stronachlachar. It takes about 2 hours and there's quite a bit of up and down - the e-bike was much appreciated! 🚴🏻♀️ The @thepiercafe_stronachlachar has a sunny patio and panoramic veranda - it's the perfect place to wait for the @thesteamshipsirwalterscott to take you back to Trossachs Pier! 🚢 If you're smart, you start with the morning boat to Stronachlachar and cycle back - that way, you're not tied to make it there at a specific time or have to wait for the afternoon boat. I just mixed up the times, so we couldn't do it that way... Afterwards, stay in the area for a hike up Ben A'an, a walk around the Forest Lodge, a wee wander through Aberfoyle or to stay overnight at one of the camping spots in the @lomondtrossachs national park! What a place! Absolutely loved my couple of days here. Had a superior one-bedroom self-catering apartment (although I didn’t self-cater at all, I just ate in the hotel restaurant 🤣) with a balcony and a stunning view over Loch Ard. Lots of walking opportunities and watersports nearby and the grounds themselves are amazing, with many features including a tennis court, putting green, outdoor chess and a waterfall. . Callander Trossachs Day 1 day of our Trossachs adventure took us to the lovely little town of Callander. We chose a hike that took us from the town centre up through the prettiest of Forrest’s through to Bracklinn Falls. The falls are beautiful and the weather Gods must of been looking down on us because we had nothing but sunshine the whole way, which I always think makes everything look that much better. From there we made our way to Coire Eas na Caillich (Scout Pool). Another beautiful picturesque spot that would have been perfect for a wild swim. Only we hadn’t brought our swimming gear as we were expecting bad weather.😩 All in all a lovely hiking route with gorgeous views the whole way.
