Training Update: As most of you know, a lot of my focus recently had been going to personal training with @activeailiex , boxing at @holyroodboxinggym1 and loads of walking. This has been working great and I’ve absolutely loved weight training so far. Boxing has been Incredible for my fitness whilst focusing on targeted weighted workouts with my PT. Ive mentioned a few times before on this page that my right knee has been playing up since about October 2021 - it flares up when squatting, walking down stairs, lowering my self down to sit on a sofa etc.. any movement that involves pressure on the knee. Today, I went to Physiotherapy at @physiotherapyplace for the first time and found that I have a lot of tension and tightness in my right side which will be causing Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome. I had acupuncture and some treatments on my pressure points. As my muscles are now relaxed, this should allow space for my knee to heal. This leads me on to my plan for the next 6 weeks. I have to take a break from @holyroodboxinggym1 which I’m absolutely GUTTED about but it will be worth it in the long-run. In addition, I’ve to avoid any lower body workouts or really anything that will put pressure on the knee (jumping, climbing, squatting etc). For the next 6 weeks I’m going to really focus on my daily stretches provided by my physiotherapist, making sure I’m getting loads and loads of steps in and being a little more strict with my food whilst I’m not gaining the fitness benefits of boxing. This week I haven't trained once. Not once. I guess you're probably wondering why, and why I'm telling you. Well because, these weeks happen sometimes. This week I've had some free time in the morning and instead of lifting weights I've really fancied a run. So I've done that instead. I honestly just haven't fancied it, and that's ok. Instead I have enjoyed a bit more time outside in nature, which is literally my favourite thing. Rather than feel guilty, I've enjoyed the rest. Next week I'll feel more up for strength training again, so that's what I'll do. This is a reminder that it's OK not to train. Its OK to do something different. Its OK just to pause things all together. Have a great weekend team ❤

Update! Day 6 of IVF stims! . . . Taking a break from something which was part of your routine for years is not fun. I’ve been working out 3-4 times a week for the past 6 years / 5-6 times a week for the past year, with very little break. Having to stop this during fertility treatment was tough, but I knew it’s the right thing to do for my peace of mind. The truth is … Doctors always encouraged me to continue as long as I’m comfortable with it. I’ve asked 5 different doctors and they all said the same thing. If your body is used to it, there should be no problem. However, each body is different and reacts differently to medicine. I worked out lightly the first 3 days of injections (BodyPump - 1/3 my usual weight), but by day 4 the fatigue and belly tenderness caught up with me. Now I am in pain getting up the couch. And there are still a few days to go. Light walks for me for now… So if you’re in a similar position I recommend to check with your doctor and listen to your body. Your body will tell you what it needs. 3 years today since opening the doors of @fitfactorypreston ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In my early 20’s I dreamed of opening my own gym, but always stumbled back to - ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘩, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s easy to wish for something you really want, but then reason with yourself as to why you can’t do it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The 9-5. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Not enough money. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ No connections. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Little knowledge. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Too young. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I made ALL those excuses. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And they were true. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But at some point, something changed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After watching guys I followed online doing the things that I so badly wanted for myself, I slowly went from - ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ to ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘐?" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I sold my Jeep, my motorcycle, moved back into my dads, and spent months with the loan officer promising I’d keep my regular job for the next few years until the gym could sustain itself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After 3 YEARS, I finally took the leap to leave that job and solely focus on my coaching and this gym. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s been a struggle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ An inconvenience. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And at times... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Stressful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But at the end of the day it’s 100% worth it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s helped me understand who I am, what I’m capable of, and that anything you want to do with your life is possible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But under one circumstance - ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ continuous effort. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don’t let anyone tell you different. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✌️ #strongereveryday

Annihilating yourself in the gym won’t always lead to more progress. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whether you’re a mom, a beginner, a professional body builder, or just a general fitness enthusiast - ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The goal should be to be doing more weight, more reps, and/or more sets from week to week, month to month, and year to year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Performing tons of volume in a single session only means your body is going to need all that volume + some in coming sessions to keep progressing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sooner or later, you’ll feel run into the ground wondering why progress has stalled and your body feels so fatigued. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Motivation will drop and frustration will sky rocket. 🚀 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve been there. There’s nothing worse than dreading the gym when you once loved it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What do instead? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Slow down. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Focus on quality reps in fewer sets. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (somewhere between 8-12 sets per week per muscle group is a good starting point - preferably split up over 2-3 sessions) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If it doesn’t feel like “enough” - that’s probably a good indicator that you aren’t working hard enough in those sets. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don’t fall for the “more is always better” mindset at first. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Make sure your training is setting you up for progress next week, next month, and next year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Patience is key. 🔐

Staying on track doesn’t have to mean eating low calorie 7 days a week. ❌ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have a social life you don’t want to give up? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Add in higher calorie days to plan for it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The sacrifice? Making sure to not go overboard and eat an extra 1000-3000 calories. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That will stop you from making any progress each and every week. 🛑 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Instead, give yourself an extra 600ish calories to put yourself at, or slightly above, maintenance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This way you aren’t losing all progress, but maintaining it instead. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s not an excuse to go nuts, but an extra lump of calories will allow you to: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -have that glass of wine (or 2) -indulge in an appetizer/dessert -or order something a little extra calorie dense off the menu ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Once Monday rolls back around you can dive back into the deficit and continue trucking along in the deficit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This process is slower, but works a dream if you want to enjoy yourself while losing fat at the same time. 👌

My heart is happy by the water. This vacation was great motivation to get back into a routine and try to start feeling better. Putting a deadline really helped get things going. I know it's tough staying consistent with health and fitness. I took a long break from the gym because it was starting to feel like work. This was probably because of the aggressive routines and competitions I was involved in. It made going to the gym a drag. Sometimes I wondered 'what for?' But as soon as I got a taste, I remember how great it feels to get my sweat on. . . . You will fall off track at some point but all that matters is that you keep going. Take the time you need and remember how strong, healthy and confident you feel with just a few minutes to yourself every week. It is literally self care. Give yourself that deadline and GO! . . . Do I look competition ready on the daily? HECK NO! But do I feel comfortable in my own skin? Intermittent Fasting isn’t magic. Just because you fast and eat all of your food in a certain time window doesn’t mean you’ll automatically start losing weight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You still have to adhere to a caloric deficit, BUT what it does do for many is make adhering to that caloric deficit a bit easier / less miserable. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ By eating all of your food in a smaller window you’re going to feel fuller, and feeling full while dieting can be very satisfying. Especially the deeper into a diet you get. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s also less likely to overeat if you limit the amount of time you spend eating. Those who cut down their eating window in a day tend to eat fewer calories than those who don’t in most cases. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Approach I.F. as a tool you can use in your tool box. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If it makes things easier, use it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If it makes things more difficult, don’t use it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s as simple as that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✌️

|| Rest Day|| ——— Switched it up this week and took my rest day today instead of Sunday like I usually do. I spent my day up in the mountains inter tubing with my best friend and 14U softball team I coach! Then went to pick out my bridesmaid dress for the wedding I’m in, which I did find one 💙 ———— It’s days like these that is just so refreshing and good for the soul. So I have taken two weeks, last week and this week out of fitness due to holiday. I'm going to re-start this weekend and get my fitness up 100%. This year has been challenging but also have learnt a lot of lessons in life. My ambitions for the new year are to get fitter than ever before and hopefully get a new job. I am taking these 2 weeks off as an advantage, but cannot wait to get back into fitness/gym and get some proper healthy food back into my body.
