Chasm is a stunning lake located in RMNP and what makes this lake extra special is that Long’s Peak towers over it. After summiting Long’s last month- it was super cool to be starring up at the summit from down below.✨ Overall, while the hike is steep, the trail is well maintained and so worth it! First you will make your through the forest, next you will arrive above tree level with incredible views. Lastly, you will go through a rock scramble to access Chasm Lake which has plenty of space for hikers to spread out and soak in the views!⛰️ Additional Notes: 🚫🐶No Dogs Allowed On Trail 💵Park pass or entrances fees required. Chasm Lake Trail - the most exhilarating hike in recent memory. I did not want to do this one alone; I wanted to start early to beat the crowds and watch the sun rise. It required a wicked rock scramble where the trail was not visible for a good distance. I made the right decision in hiring @femmetrek to guide me along this hike. Sharon was amazing and I could enjoy the hike without being concerned with all the logistics of a remote hike to an alpine lake. Colorado "The Centennial State" 🇺🇸 Nach einer warmen Zeit in Arizona, Utah, Kalifornien und Nevada ging es auf einmal hoch hinaus. Der erste kleine Zwischenstopp war in Vail, ein süsses touristisches Dörfchen. Wohl eher bekannt als Skiort, deshalb war es relativ ruhig als wir Mitte Juni dort waren. Unsere Fahrt ging weiter in den Rocky Mountain National Park. Aufgrund der Höhe wurde es ziemlich frisch und an manchen Tagen war ein starker, kalter Wind ein weiterer Reisebegleiter. Wir fuhren die höchste Passstrasse der USA. Bei der Trail Ridge Road erreicht man mit dem Auto eine Höhe von 3713 m ü. M. (12'183 Fuss). Am folgenden Tag stiessen wir bei der Wanderung ziemlich schnell auf ausgedehnte und exponierte Schneefelder, so dass wir unser Programm für die Folgetage etwas gemütlicher gestalteten. Da war es durchaus von Vorteil, dass unsere Unterkunft auch einen Whirlpool hatte und wir die Zeit etwas entspannter geniessen konnten. Chasm Lake is a mountain lake at the base of Longs Peak (14,259’) The hike is 8.4 miles round trip and leads you through forest, waterfalls, and an alpine meadow. It is difficult but so rewarding! We plan on doing this hike once a month while here to notice the changes in the environment. Soon the alpine meadow will be filled with wildflowers. We stopped above Peacock Pool and Columbine Falls (first pic) since the conditions were still too icy and it’s a very steep drop should one slip! This is one of my favorite hikes in Colorado - Chasm Lake. Sometimes tricky to get to, due to steep slopes near the end that are slippery with snow most of the year, Chasm Lake may take some bravery to find but is worth the trek.
