Wanted to a different post today… this was a picture I took from a local woods on one of my walks out. I wanted to process the image and show you how much it changes when you start changing the settings. The first picture was the one I took on my camera on aperture priority setting, 400 ISO, JPEG. In my opinion the picture looks bland and dull just like the day was! I really wanted to bring out the greens and make the picture look more vibrant. The second picture is what I’ve developed through adobe lightroom. I changed the exposure, contrast, color balance and other settings to bring out the colour, textures and the quality (especially on the little twigs on the trees). What are your thoughts on this? Is there anything I can work on picture wise or process wise? I've noticed a lot of moms, myself included, that tend to compare their pregnancies, motherhoods, children's milestones, partners, etc to other women's lives and children. "Why doesn't my partner help out like hers does? When will my child finally start to crawl, walk, talk like those other babies? She had such a healthy pregnancy, what am I doing wrong?" In a lot of cases, these thoughts are keeping you from recognizing your potential, your child's unique milestones and personality, and anything your partner does do for you that takes a bit off of your plate. When you compare, you're not being grateful for what is working and your own unique motherhood journey. You may start to feel anxious and depressed wondering "what am I doing wrong?" If you did indeed do something wrong, take accountability and move forward. If you didn't, then stop shaming yourself and stop comparing. Your life is yours. Your motherhood is yours. Your child is uniquely yours and so is your journey. You were never meant to be anyone but yourself and same goes for your child(ren). Stay centered. Stay present.
