I had some great feedback from Alex’s TA today… and was thrilled to give that feedback to one of our SENCO too!! 🗣🧩🪁👑So it's supposedly the last day of AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH. So I figured I'd make a post for my boy.. He is everything! Sweet, Kind, Loving, Happy, Mean, Rude, Fussy, Whiny, Silly, Goofy, HILARIOUS, Slick, Sneaky, HYPERACTIVE, Messy, Rough, Loud, DESTRUCTIVE, Curious, Nerve Wrecking, Daring, Unsafe, Fearless,.....Sleepy, Dopey, Sneezy, Bashful, Grumpy, Hungry, Poopie, Lazy 🥴 #IYKYK 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ Royal's Nonverbal but extremely Vocal 😵‍💫 He loves to sing, jump, climb, run, roll on the floor, COLOR/DRAW ALL THE TIME, and watch YouTube on his tablet. He loves listening to and making music. He loves multiple languages and even tries to sing nursery rhymes in many languages. He's talking more, reading a little (like the name of a color on a colored pencil), He's starting to try and write numbers on his own. He loves school and all of his amazing teachers. He loves his family and his village/support system. He loves going to Dad's house. He loves being in the car and going places. He loves his stroller 😳 I LOVE HIS STROLLER 💃🏿😅🤷🏾‍♀️ He loves to climb his dresser and jump off 🙄😑 He really loves to test his Muva's patience 😖😣😩😫👊🏾💥 Even when I tell him stop the hospital is closed 🧗🏿The true definition of a #PuppyMonkeyBaby 🐶🐵👶🏿😮‍💨 AutismMomLife Can be a struggle but when I say it is the most rewarding and proud thing I've been blessed to be,,, I so mean it!! It can be both lonely and a joy… When you have an SEN little boy… Alex is such a treasure and one-of-a-kind, but there are most definitely times that are testing, lonely and difficult. Parenting a nearly 6 year old is a tricky thing quite often… but add into that SEN stuff like delayed speech, and the looooooong process of seeing if they are on the spectrum in any way… that definitely adds a certain something to one’s world… Which is why coffee mornings like Hailey's "super powers support" group is priceless. To know I’m not alone. To get different perspectives. To get top tips. To laugh. To have a cry. To listen. It all helps and I’m ever so grateful for it existing. I mentioned Andy being away with work to them, and then absolutely instilled a sense of confidence and calm to the situation. Soon… Hubby goes away with work… There are mixed emotions about this, and I absolutely appreciate that a lot of my friends’ have partners who get deployed for numerous months. Big respect and love to you guys. I feel, it’s all relative, and to be solo parenting for a week is a big deal in our world. I think my mind is cool as a cucumber!😂 The other part of my mind is anxious… having to parent a prenager and an SEN nearly 6 year old who is delayed speech and has begun to be more defiant with his ‘nos’. So, I’m trying to bulk cook so that meals are relatively easy. My overthinking isn’t helping me this week! April showers ☔️ bring May flowers! 🌷 We love making speech therapy FUN for ALL AGES. The Rain Cloud experiment has been particularly great for kids working on the R sound because, let’s face it, all that drilling can get BORING! We practiced 💧Saying R words and S-Blends like rain, eyedropper, pour, shower, sprinkle, jar, coloring, green, orange, purple, drip, spray, shaving cream 💧Action words like spray, pour, drip, and mix. 💧Basic concept words like full, a little, a lot, and colors. 💧Answering questions like “Where did you drip?” and “What did you make?” Are you concerned about your child’s speech or language development? April is Autism Acceptance Month and we support it! Our house is full of neurospicy! My older sister Matilda (Tillie) who is 8 - has Autism, emotional disregulation, severe anxiety, premature adrenarche. Myself Malakai who is 6 - has Autism, sensory processing disorder, ARFID, possibly ADHD (undiagnosed atm) My younger sister Isabella (Bella) who is 5 - has Autism, sensory processing disorder, she was non verbal until she was 3, she is under speech and language, Has Asthma, also ADHD (all diagnosed) and is delayed across the board with PSE, fine motor, gross motor etc. My Mumma is undiagnosed ADHD but not all superheroes wear capes! She is our hero and fights for us on a daily basis. Today we were discharged from speech & language by the NHS. To say I’m in shock & disbelief would be an understatement! Parker has Down syndrome & delayed speech yet SALT have apparently done all they can. They have provided the bare minimum and now discharged him. At this moment in time Parker is 2 weeks of his third birthday & has no verbal communication we communicate through makaton. How they can say they have done all they can is beyond me. Thankfully we have a wonderful local charity @handsupfordowns that provides speech and language sessions every week for Parker & if it were not for those sessions Parker would not have the communication skills he does have at present.
