Being a full time working single mom is the hardest job I’ve ever had. Especially with a baby/toddler. These 2 photos are 24 hours difference, within that time frame I let Sophia get some outside time in, made us dinner, did some dishes, went to bed, got up and got us ready, put a crock pot meal in, drove in the snowy packed roads to drop her off at daycare, get to work by 8, almost getting stuck in the snow multiple times, worked 8 hours, ran home quick to shovel out a path for us to get into the house, ran to daycare and picked her up all on top of being sick as well. I love my life, I love my kids, and I love my job. It’s hard doing it alone though. People often say they don’t know how I do it and I don’t know either. Even being in relationships I was always doing this so it’s just normal for me. Paying all the bills, doing the housework, raising the kids, being the breadwinner, working hard at my job, doing the medical appointments for the kids, having little to no time or money for myself. I made myself prune the limelight hydrangeas today. I also picked up sticks and branches from the front and back yards. Let me be clear, I was tired and feeling lazy and sorry for myself. But I dreaded having to pay someone hundreds of dollars to do it for me. It was unusually warm here today, so I freaking did it myself. I was a little concerned at how tried and slow I worked. I’m so out of shape now. When I walk in my neighborhood, I’m slow. Ugh. I need to get my strength and endurance back. I’ve gained two pounds since my hand surgery. 👎🏼 Anyway, my hand has healed enough to let me use the long handled pruners and I got it done. 💪🏼 The yard looks better. But weeds are already popping up and things are about to explode. I dread spring. It’s too much for me to handle alone; this 1.5 acre yard. Been feeling a little downcast the last few days. Nothing unbearable, just need to be busy. I function better when I’m busy. It sure would be nice to have an assistant. You never know what life has in store for you. This was taken a few years ago when I never thought I'd be rearing four sons on my own. Accepting being a single mother was fine, actually doing it all alone is the harder part. Life can throw us all difficult paths. Finding happiness in the small things gets us through it. I don't think anyone is dealt an easy life. I believe we all have struggles in one way or another. Staying grounded and appreciative of your children and their health is most important. Everyday being grateful for what you have and not feeling hard done by for what u don't have. My life has been filled with great family, great friends & great times with my four boys but I've also gone through hard times, very hard times which has made me the woman I am today. 2024 I'm focusing on working on me it's time to put myself first where possible. For the first time since I can remember I'm excited about what's to come I'm planning on lots of healing through yoga, meditation and excerise.
