This week has been rough. We took Anise back to the rescue and finalized Sherbert’s adoption after almost an entire year. The rescue never gave us the help we needed and asked for with Anise and we could not keep her due to her constantly pottying outside of the litter boxes whenever she had the chance. Claw amputation Sometimes in foot care, a decision has to be made on what is best for the cow’s welfare and comfort, as to whether a claw is amputated or a cow 🐄 is culled! As we were looking at a first time calver who’s foot had gone horribly wrong after a bad case of foul, we asked the vet to come along and take the claw off. A tourniquet is applied the plenty of local anaesthetics are used to make sure that the cow has no feeling in the claw that is been amputated. Once the anaesthetic had worked cheese wire is yeses to cut the claw off, before been cleaned and bandaged. Antibiotics are given to reduce the risk of any infection and a longer lasting pain relief and anti-inflammatory are given. Taking a claw off may look a little drastic, but makes the cows comfort and welfare 100% better very quickly and allows the cow to continue in the herd for many more years. Honey might be back at home. Making the decision to for her to go back to her mamma's was so hard. To this day, my heart still hurts 💔 but having a mental breakdown was hard, and I couldn't give her what she needed. 🥺 She was such an empathic dog and knew when I wasn't right. Made me smile and calmed me down some extreme meltdowns, but she was always on edge, and that wasn't fair on her worrying over me. 😪 Yeah, I still have Lucas, who has saved me in so many ways, too. But he is so chill and could cope with my days. I was petrified to step outside. 😮💨 Looking back, many people think how MH affects other people, but it also affects pets. Something overlooked very often. 😔 Every day, I miss her, but know I have done the right thing, and we're still in contact, and she's thriving, happy and has acres of fields to run around ✨️ Thank you Claire for your understanding and making Honey so happy and loved. Towards the end of my father’s time living with us the excellent relationship between Mr P and my father had broken down. My father no longer listened to me and it took Mr P’s firm voice and insistence to get the man (my father had become) to wash, change his clothes and maintain a basic level of hygiene. As we approach a year since dad moved into Dorrington House this photo shows me we did the right thing. If I visit alone, dad wants to know where ‘his friend is’ or ‘where’s my Graham?’ (I sometimes think he’s not bothered about me, but that’s okay) and no matter what he forgets, dad always remembers to ask about Mr P’s work project managing the new village hall. Yesterday, with outstretched arm across Mr P’s lap, dad held onto his hand and Mr P kept a grip to comfort his old friend, while I held his other hand and we listened to the musicians entertaining the residents. Don’t let anyone tell you all care homes are awful, because they are not, perhaps we are lucky to have found the best and we have been able to return to being welcome in dad’s life, not downtrodden and verbally bullied by him. Now this isn't something I normally speak about, but I know I'm not alone... I've come a long way in my healing. But there's one part that seems to linger the most. Having to deal with my abuser again. Having a child with him, just made our lives 1000x harder. Thankfully my son told him to kick rocks years ago, he always respected that. I thank him for that. His narrative is of course he's the victim, I kept his son from him. Which of course is ridiculous, and I have 12 years of receipts that say otherwise. Very disheartening. The first time we updated our Child Support, was after 16 years. I never chased him for that. Our interactions were actually peaceful. I thought he matured. He even thanked me for not going after everything we were entitled too. This time, he's gone above and beyond to make this difficult. It's incredibly triggering hearing him and his delusional narrative. The hurt that man caused not only myself, but my entire Family... especially his own child. I'll never know how people can be so cruel. All I can do is remind myself, his narrative is false and has no effect on me. I thought I was farther along in my healing in regards to him, but it turns out I'm not. But I will get there, one day. Despite the mental and emotional toll this has taken on me, I know I've advocated for my son. I know I've done my best and I've been there every day of his life. Today has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. After a year and a half of not being in her life today was the 1st time for Maddie and her daddy got to see eachother. Today was by no means easy for me as I’ve been the one to pick up the pieces when she’s been let down I’ve had to wipe away her tears and listen to her cry. But when he asked to see her and Maddie asked to see him this mama went and made it happen because at the end of the day the only one who matters in all of this is Madison her happiness matters.
