I am a #90s kid. I can totally relate with the late Professor Munywoki to the hilt. He was our Psychology lecturer and his fixation with the #70s was apparent. From his dress code, to his medallion that was visible around his neck as kept his top buttons open and his conscious bounce as he walked around the campus - the ever smiling slim sagacious professor shaped his existence. 90s fashion was terrible - loose and baggy clothes that were optical disasters. The footwear was wicked, must give credit there as several brands were competing for that market: SPX, Kickers, Air Max, Puma, British Knights, Ewing, FILA, Dr. Martens and Air Jordan. Television and radio were what had me senses buzzing. #AlloAllo was a felicitously scripted show. The writers understood each character and fed them their required dialogue. #TheBigBreakfast conjured up a different flavour for morning content, with great chemistry between #ChrisEvans, #PaulaYates and #GabbyRoslin. #CommonAsMuck wasn't a great hit but #EdwardWoodward and the cast did a great job highlighting how the other half live...and work. #TheRealMcCoy had a amalgam of great talent from Curtis and Ishmael to #LlewellaGideon and the 'Nigerian' Felix Dexter. #RabCNesbitt oh my, if ever a character overtook an actor's personality, it was Nesbitt. Stellar performance. #AmandadeCadenet kept us glued to #TheWord, truth shall set us free. The show gave artists a relaxed platform to engage, something #ShabbaRanks probably regrets as he was 'cancelled' for some derogatory remarks he made whilst interviewed by #TerryChristian. I watched that late night episode but felt that freedom of speech was a democratic right. #ThisIsEngland90 wasn't produced in the 90s but depicted the era quite accurately. The Wicker Man (1973): A British folk horror about a police officer who goes to a small Scottish isle to investigate the disappearance of a young girl. Christopher Lee is in this film, which should be enough of a selling point by itself. This movie is bananas. Completely unhinged. Itβs downright silly for the first 1/2 to 2/3, then thrilling and creepy (if still a bit silly) for the rest of it, and horrific at the end. This is the mother of folk horror and a cult classic with a great mystery to boot. My only criticism is that, for all its open-minded hippiness, it is extremely hetero- and masculonormative. Cannot recommend highly enough.
