Whew finished my 66+ hour fast. My initial goal was 60 hours but did a few extra hours. Lost 3.6 lbs. Iโm currently 48 hours into a 240-hour water fast, and itโs been quite a seamless transition so far. Usually, the first few days are the most challenging, then things start to settle. But, other than some mild hunger signals around my regular eating time, Iโve been perfectly fine. Now, if you havenโt fasted before, and depending on your diet, you will likely experience the following during the first few days: Cravings Irritability Mood changes Dizziness or light-headedness Fatigue and weakness Insomnia Nausea Cognitive impairments This can be very challenging, and it has been for myself in the past. But look at that list of symptoms. Does it remind you of anything? It does to me: withdrawals... If you experience those side effects, you may be eating a low-fat diet or consuming hyper-processed food-like products and sugar. Coming from a whole-food, plant-based, keto, or animal-based diet, higher in fat, youโre unlikely to experience these symptoms quite so aggressively. And that makes sense to meโwe wouldnโt always have food available as we have evolved, so why would we continually have to go through this process when without. What happens when you push through this process is, you start to feel fewer cravings, you have more energy, focus, and clarity for the most part. Our bodies are designed to be able to go without having food all the time; thatโs the reason our body stores fatโbeing fat-adapted makes it more accessible without the discomfort when required. Iโve been fasting on and off for ten years now. Iโve got a good grasp on listening to my body, and if I feel itโs time to break a fast early, I do. I believe 10 days is optimal for myself without running into any potential complications with regards to refeeding and see stunning results when it comes to increased levels of autophagy, human growth hormone, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, stem cell activity, cellular regeneration, and reduced levels of inflammation. . I've been doing water fast and today is last day which is day 5 !! ๐๐๐ I've done 5 day water fast in the past (think it was 2022) but hadn't done it since. I wanted to reset my body and kill my cravings for sugar and carbs. First couple of days were hard especially I had to cook dinner for the family while feeling hungry and I sip just water watching them eat at the table. But afte72 hours, appetite disappeared. Yesterday I got some bones from local butcher and have been cooking bone broth over 10 hours and this is perfect for breaking the fast which is 7pm tonight, can't wait!! As for exercise, I did go for a walk once during my fast and did yoga most days. Since I'm planning to do carnivour diet, I'll take it very easy on my run for now.
