A day of highs and lows in the Sierras above Bass Lake. First, a view high above the lake, covered with fast-moving clouds and the Central Valley in the distance. Next, some really nice people I met at the mile-high vista of the lake, who rescue other off-roaders that get stuck high up in the middle of nowhere. And lastly, a shocking and depressing view of the terrible aftermath of the Big Creek Fire of 2020 and the once lush Nelder Grove. Throwback to 3 days in Yosemite & Mariposa Grove. Mariposa Grove had been on my bucket list while we lived up north but it was under a Restoration Project for a couple of years so we were never able to go. But this trip I remember everything worked out perfectly and we were finally able to go. Needless to say we’re definitely going back. Hoping we can make it out there again this year but we’ll see. If you visit Yosemite make sure you also visit Mariposa Grove full of Giant Sequoias and tunnel trees.
