Okay, let me explain. PushUpMania 100 Days is happening this month of May. Each day I’m going to do 1,000 pushups for the next 100 days (no days off). This is the first decisive step towards PushUpMania ‘25 and another shot at the Push-Up records next February. Every day is part of the training/rehearsals, and we will do it openly and together. Each day/session will be streamed live on Instagram and afterwards, you will find the complete video record on YouTube. Nothing has changed, the message is still the same- raising awareness on Infant and Maternal Mortality in Nigeria. The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has recorded a significant decline in infant mortality from 2014 to 2022. Director General GHS, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, who made the disclosure said the infant mortality rate for Ghana in 2022 stood at 28 deaths per 1000 live births, a 32% decline from the 2014 figure of 41 deaths per 1000 live births. He attributed the decline to the comprehensive package of health interventions for children, including vaccination, growth monitoring, bed net distribution, de-worming and counseling sessions. “It is an undeniable fact that immunization has played a critical role in this achievement,” he said. You see, Jai is not only a Sigma Soror, she is also my client & friend. She has seen 1st hand how the MIC (Medical Industrial Complex aka hospital system) mistreats Black women during labor. Today is the last day of Black Maternal Health Week. However, the advocacy still continues! 💪🏽 *DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT TO SCARE YOU, IT IS TO INFORM YOU* The United States is in a maternal crisis. One of the main causes is racism. Black women are dying 4 - 5x more than Whites due pregnancy, childbirth or postpartum complications (Maternal Mortality). For every 1 Black woman that dies, 100s NEARLY die (Maternal Morbidity). Black infants die at a rate of 2x higher than Whites before their 1st birthday (Infant Mortality). In NYC, that rate is 12x more for Maternal Mortality. For low risk women, giving birth in a hospital can increase their chances of complications. There are many procedures that are done (ex - continuous fetal monitoring) that can interfere with the birth process. Doulas are birthkeepers. Our role is to protect birth by any means necessary. Along with Midwives, we can help lower the maternal/ infant mortality & maternal morbidity rates. Hire a Doula even if it's your 5th birth. Every labor is different. More infants are now dying in the U.S. than in the last two decades, according to data from the NCHS. The U.S. provisional infant mortality rate rose 3% from 2021 to 2022 — the first increase since 2001 to 2002. Prior to this increase, infant mortality rates had declined 22% between 2002 and 2021. “Seeing an increase that hits the statistical significance mark indicates that this was a bigger jump than we’ve had in the last 20 years, and that is something we need to keep an eye on to see if it’s just a one-year anomaly or the start of increasing rates,” study author Danielle M. Ely, an NCHS health statistician, told The New York Times. The rise in infant mortality in 2022 could have links to the pandemic since most babies born that year were conceived in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic — and the year that COVID-19 shots were widely rolled out. Board-certified internist and cardiologist Dr. Peter McCullough stated COVID-19 shots should be given the Category X designation during pregnancy, which means, “The risk of use of the drug in pregnant women clearly outweighs any possible benefit. Somewhat challenging to read, this gravestone was commissioned by Levi Johnson (1766-1833) and Lydia Bishop (1765-1846) of Bolton, Connecticut, in honor of their second child Harvy (1794-1796). Born in September of 1794, Harvy contracted measles and died shortly before turning two in June of 1796.
