I know being in nature is good for all our mental health but for Jake the physical, improving his balance and coordination and sensory benefits are huge 🌿. . AWAY / Lots of you been asking about Jake 🙏 well he has been amazing, coped so well with such a completely surreal and harsh environment, being such a neutral and calming colour palette, I actually think he has found the wintry landscape quite calming. He has soaked up his surroundings, being outdoors in nature with the cold, clean air and the silence of being in a magical frozen forest, any sound deadened by the snow……don’t we all 💙 . Lots of getting kit on and off including helmets for the snowmobile rides which I thought we would struggle with but he went with it….he is quite clumsy, so a bit like Bambi on ice! . He can’t quite work out where to put his thumb and fingers in gloves so we just settled for mittens and he then clutched hand warmers and interestingly think the squeezing has been his release instead of the hand tapping he does, it might be that he couldn’t actually tap with gloves on but the point being he adapted and found a different coping mechanism, guess a bit like a stress ball 🤷🏻♀️. . The limited daylight hours took some time to get used to for us let alone him but he let us get him ready in the dark at 9am with no fuss and went with the flow which is not always easy with children with his difficulties especially when sees and understands things so differently. Routine and diet completely out the window so we have had our moments 🤦🏻♀️ . Wasn’t sure how the trip would go to be honest, don’t do winter holidays for all the above but he has surpassed all our expectations and more. Took this photo at the cutest farm upstate over the summer. They had such a huge selection of locally grown fruits and vegetables. I especially love looking for mushrooms and tomatoes at farmer’s markets like this. 🍄🍅 There were so many various shades and hues in this photo it was hard to pull just a few. I decided to go with a more limited, neutral palette this time. But all those gorgeous reds and oranges would definitely make a great little palette too.

AWAY / My hubby has been wanting to come to Nazare’ in Portugal since he started surfing 🏄🏻♂️ it is where monster waves are seen (and surfed 🙈) due to the biggest underwater ravine in Europe which can generate waves up to 100 ft high 🌊We were not here on a big wave day sadly but still the strength of the sea was mesmerising, just immense to imagine the size of waves, literally mountains of water, that have been seen here when standing on the fort by the lighthouse. . With high ceilings on her side, @daisysimshilditch (designing together with our co-founder John Sims-Hilditch) has used our Suffolk cabinetry to create ample storage along one end, leaving space to indulge in an @aga_cookers, Buckland bench seating and a cooker hood worthy of any Venetian apartment or French farmhouse. Daisy’s space also shows just how beautifully you can adapt our kitchen collections to reflect your own style. For her, it was pairing elements of tradition (the Shaker-style cabinetry, the curves and the AGA) with modernity (ice-cream hues and our textural, matt Savernake oak flooring) that best reflected her home. #neptunehome
