This choice is based on several reasons. Blue was a significant color in past civilizations, representing the divine and royalty. Some Christians believed that light had a specific color, blue, which is why church stained glass windows are of this color. Blue is the color of France, both in its flag and its history. Being French, as many know, I wanted to pay homage to my country. When you see paintings, most of the kings wore long blue capes with fleur-de-lis. Blue is also a practical color. When trying to create green themes, I found it difficult to find a good filter. Blue has the most beautiful coloring and the widest choice. According to science, blue is one of the colors that attracts attention. Symbolizing self-confidence, stability, and honesty, that's why most YouTubers' thumbnails are in this color. Arthur Tudor, Prince of Wales and heir of England, died on this day in 1502 from an illness that had most likely plagued both him and his wife, Katherine of Aragon. His death shocked the whole realm; his parents– Henry VII and Elizabeth of York –had to comfort each other while they were both heavily grief-stricken, and Katherine of Aragon (only a teenage girl) was most definitely both sad and anxious. She had come all the way from Spain to marry Arthur, and now that he was gone, she had only herself and her attendants. Elizabeth organised a litter draped in black velvet to bring the Spanish Infanta to London when she would feel better. For Katherine, life worsened in England after Arthur's death. While the Spanish and English king tried to negotiate another treaty, Katherine spent most of her time in Durham House in poor conditions. She had little money, couldn't pay her ladies-in-waiting, and she was not able to buy food for herself and her household. In six years, the Dowager Princess of Wales had only been able to purchase two plain dresses by selling her bracelets. However, Henry VII's death in 1509 changed everything for Katherine. She married Arthur's brother Henry, now Henry VIII, and enjoyed a splendid joint coronation with the youngster. Suddenly, she was Queen of England and not poor anymore. In June of 1519, Henry VIII’s only acknowledged illegitimate child was born. He was named Henry after his father with an added “Fitzroy” meaning “son of the king”. His birth was a quiet one. No diplomatic dispatches were sent and his christening wasn’t even recorded, but soon after the king was proudly displayed his new son at court. Henry Fitzroy’s mother was Elizabeth Blount, a lady in waiting to Queen Catherine of Aragon. It is not recorded as to how Queen Catherine felt at the birth of her husband’s son, but it should be assumed that she was not thrilled. In the television series The Spanish Princess it is portrayed that Catherine knew of Bessie Blount’s pregnancy, and was even present at the birth, but this is untrue. Henry was very discrete with his affairs. Bessie would have been sent away and hidden until after the child was born. The only reason Henry Fitzroy was so openly acknowledged, was due to the fact that he was a boy. Catherine and Henry had been married since 1509, and Catherine had been pregnant 6 times, but only one child had survived infancy. A girl, the Princess Mary. For anyone else this would be deemed a failure, but Catherine had a strong belief that her daughter was fully capable of ruling England. But in June 1525, Mary’s position was seemingly threatened. At Bridewell Palace, the six year old Fitzroy was made the Earl of Nottingham and the Duke of both Richmond and Somerset. From this point on Fitzroy would be styled “the right high and noble prince”. The Venetian ambassador reported that, “the queen resents the earldom and dukedom conferred on the king’s natural son and remains dissatisfied”. Henry punished her by dismissing three of her Spanish ladies. This did not stop Catherine. She was on Henry to openly acknowledge Princess Mary as the rightful heir to the English throne. And she won. In 1525 Mary was sent to Wales to preside over the princes seat. She was never officially made Princess of Wales, but that did not stop people from calling her the Princess of Wales. And this was not forgotten. In March 1, 1537, the Feast Day of St. David (patron Saint of Wales) Mary was given a leek, the symbol of Wales.
