T. I’ve learned so many things over the years. I consider these things to be important life lessons and when I think about them, they have always been meaningful. For the 26 days of the I Love Fiesta Ware May B C event, I’m posting one of these simple little things every day with one of my Fiesta dinnerware photos. Here’s a photo of the early Post 86 colors, Lilac, Rose, Yellow, Apricot, Periwinkle, and Sea Mist on a Spring day that will never happen again. It was a pretty Saturday, several different flowers had bloomed, they reminded me of these Post 86 Fiesta colors, and I’m glad I have a little snapshot of it. Today, I remember my mom. At 54, which is the age I am, and I GET to be, she passed from uterine cancer. Gone too soon. A life quietly lived. She was an amazing horticultural expert, yet quietly tended to her plants and greenhouse. She was modest. She wrote newsletters and poetry, but rarely shared them. Her orchids were beautiful! She cared for animals as well, and we had many pets! Birds, ( two parrots) , Cockatiels, Finches, Parakeets, a rabbit, my sweet duckling, and a few stray cats! We were the animal house , but it was always clean. She took pride in all she did. We always had nutritious food to eat, and a backyard vegetable garden. Mom was a nurturer. She took such great care of us. In her quiet ways, she lived her life caring for others. She had a small circle of friends, she cherished. Sadly, she lost many of them. Adversity was no stranger. She was well read and although she studied education in college, never professionally taught. But, she was MY teacher. From her, I learned patience, perseverance, and to never stop seeking answers. Through sickness and times of health , she was a devoted wife and mother. I hope she’s proud of who I became. She always cheered me on in my education and adventures in life. She was in my shadow at times and never complained. We GET to learn from those we loved. We GET to decide to keep their memory alive. Be the things you loved about the people who are gone. And add in your own sprinkles of uniqueness, for the next generation to treasure.
