It's an evening of new game learning here as the usual suspects and I have a crack at Turing Machine. @the_ilicic_witch and I have been eyeing this since last years games expo and finally got it to the table. The rules and playthrough instructions caused a bit of sweat on the old brow but once we did a demo for ourselves we picked it up pretty quickly., One game in with the excellent @the_scarfed_trews and I think we can crack on and get a feel for the game. This really is a first moments of the game post and I can say that it has a great feel to it. Trews won the first game after our witch eliminated herself so it was just me and him. I knew he had a solution and I wasn't sure of mine but it made me want to put one forward. The pressure was real! I lost but I loved it. Anyone else? This message from @personisawake literally fell on my head while rifling through my closet this morning so I had to make a pretty patch with my new lil @twohpmodular Turing Machine. Contents of ✉️ long been consumed 🍄 Only dust remains. I’ve been trying to add more space to my patches. More reverb wasn’t the answer. Too many murky clouds of nothing. The relentless hammering away 16th notes and sloppy Euclidean messes started feeling very static. Funny how in trying to add rhythm to my patches, I ended up making them sound stuck. Unmovable. Like running in place really fast. Rhythm flows. Waves bend. Here, I can manually control the flow of time with an unclocked 0-Ctrl. Someone on r/modular said the @makenoisemusic DPO sounded “woody” - and while I can’t quite explain it, I knew exactly what they meant. I wish I knew how to clock the Strega delay. ARCHEOLOGIC ⏳️ This smart deduction puzzzle game is by one of the designers of 2023 Golden Standee winner Turing Machine! Although both are deduction puzzle games, the two games are quite different from each other and we think that this one is easier to introduce to new players because the questions you can ask ' the machine' aren’t as complex. But... the puzzles it presents are just as fiendishly tricky as with Turing Machine. The goal of the game is to figure out the correct placement of the tetris shaped pieces on a grid of 5x5. You always use all the puzzle pieces and there will always be three empty spaces in every puzzle solution. The game comes with circular cards which can be placed behind an intriging looking cardboard device called the Archeoscope. In the center of the table is the City board which will keep track of player's turns and which row or column is free to ask a question about to the Archeoscope. Some questions cost more time than others and taking turns is the same as in Patchwork. Whomever's player token is last, gets to choose a question and move their pawn x spaces forward on the track. This means that you sometimes get to do multiple actions in a row as long as you're last on the turn order track. You always ask a question about a row or a column and questions you can ask are, for example, the number of empty spaces, which kind of traps (icons) are visible, how many pieces there are and if a specific piece is present. Although there's a full functioning game in the box, the game offers many more puzzles when you use the web app. You can either setup the game with the setup wheel (5th pic) or use the web app (6th pic). We're big fans of the web app since, like with Turing Machine, it offers daily challenges and does really creative things with the starting hints. Turing Machine 👥 1-4 📝14+ años⏳20' Hoy toca mostraros uno de los juegos más esperados del 2023, hasta el punto de agotarse el primer día de venta. Hablamos de Turing Machine, un juego publicado por una editorial, @tranjisgames, conocida mundialmente por Virus!, que está haciendo un trabajo espectacular, consiguiendo un gran reconocimiento dentro del mundillo lúdico. Estamos ante un juego de deducción, en el que utilizando la Máquina de Turing, trataremos de descifrar códigos secretos. El objetivo es lograr descifrar un código único, compuesto por 3 dígitos con valores entre el 1 y el 5, para conseguir ser el jugador más rápido en resolverlo. Antes de empezar, elegiremos un problema a resolver entre los 20 disponibles en el manual o accediendo a los más de 7 millones que podremos encontrar en la web de Turing Machine. El problema seleccionado nos establecerá que verificadores utilizaremos y las cartas de criterio o preguntas para cada uno de esos verificadores. Cada jugador recibiremos una pantalla y una hoja de anotaciones. La partida transcurre en rondas, en las que simultáneamente cada jugador realizaremos estos pasos: 1️⃣ Componer tu propuesta de código, en la que pensaremos un código de 3 dígitos. Para ello, superpondremos 3 tarjetas perforadas que conformen dicho código, de tal manera que solo veremos un hueco libre entre las tarjetas. 2️⃣ Preguntar a los verificadores, en la que revisaremos hasta 3 criterios utilizando las tarjetas perforadas elegidas. Cada verificador nos aportará datos sobre nuestra propuesta, pudiendo pasar ✅ o no ❌ el test. 3️⃣ Deducir, en la que anotaremos en la hoja nuestras suposiciones sobre cada uno de los criterios. Tras terminar cada ronda, podremos decidir si estamos en condiciones de acertar el código. ✏️ Opinión personal Turing Machine es una propuesta original que se ha convertido en uno de nuestros TOP. De partidas rápidas, con múltiples niveles de dificultad gracias a su web, es fácil jugar una partida tras otra. Resolver los códigos a partir de pistas sobre condiciones a cumplir y no con las cifras exactas sobre el número, nos llevará a un nivel superior de deducción, convirtiéndose en un auténtico reto.

More Langton's Ants on polyhedra. The rule used here is a minimal adaptation of the basic binary scheme: turn right on 0 and left on 1, and flip the cell value when moving on. The turn angles are the smallest nonzero ones, i.e. pi/3 or 60° for 6-fold vertices of the geodesic polyhedron. I first tested this rule in a 2D hex lattice about a year ago, and it made a distinctive laterally symmetric pattern. Here the symmetry is broken by the occasional 5-fold vertices. It is also worth noting that in 5-fold vertices, there is no way to continue straight forward, so the minimal left/right turning angles are actually smaller, i.e. pi/5. Depending on the random-seeded initial location and direction, I sometimes got these nice hexagonal details. To ensure I'd always get them, I switched from the icosahedral geodesic to a Goldberg polyhedron, shown in the second part. Now the laterally symmetric pattern is clear, at least for some time; the overall topology is still different from the 2D lattice. Since only one cell is being updated at a time, the overall progress is relatively slow, and here I'm doing ten updates per video frame. But if you like logic puzzles it's good fun, and I really like how it's implemented. You must find a three digit code, to do so you can test your hypotheses by putting the code together with punch cards and then testing a variety of variables, such as how many even digits, which digit is largest. You test it by putting a card behind your pile of punch cards and seeing if there's a ✅ or a ❌ #turingmachine

🚨 DTW Recap Post 9 🚨 Game: Turing Machine Publisher: @scorpionmasque Designer: @levetyoann I had heard so many great things about Turing Machine but never had the chance to try it so when I saw I could play it WITH the designer, I signed up right away! In this game you are trying to deduce a code while everyone else does the same but you want to be the first one to figure it out! So what you do is guess a code by taking those matching number cards (they have lots of punch outs on them), place them together, and then “check” them against your clues (Sorry I don’t have pictures of those, I was having too much fun playing 😅 ). So for example, some of the clues involve guessing or figuring out if certain numbers in your code are greater than or less than certain numbers or if they’re equal, etc. When you take your guess and match it to a clue card you’ll either see a revealed ✅ or ❌, then you need to figure out information from the answer—does that help you know to increase or decrease a number? Do you need to change the order? etc. You can only make up to 3 clue checks per round then you can try again with a new guess. Play continues until someone guesses the code. If two or more people figure out the code on the same round, whomever deduced the code with the least amount of clue checks, wins. And that’s the game! Hopefully that all made sense despite my lack of pictures of the components 😅. This game is right up my alley with the puzzling and figuring out the code. I loved burning my brain trying to figure out what the clues were telling me and adjusting my codes from the answers. And it was very cool to meet the designer! Hace unas semanas probamos uno de los juegos sensación del 2023 gracias a Vic de @gameria.es Un juego de deducción muy original, con partidas rápidas en el que tendremos que encontrar el número de 3 cifras a través de consultas a unos verificadores con cierta lógica a tener en cuenta. Al principio cuesta entenderlo un poco hasta saber bien cómo funciona. Tenemos que darle más partidas para poder tener una opinión más en profundidad, en principio nos gustó y sobre todo la duración, 20 minutos y ya se puede tomar revancha contra la lógica, además que hay infinidad de partidas para realizar. Piraten Kapern gefällt durch die schnell gespielten Kapernfahrten mit schönen Custom Dice. Wunderbarer Filler. Turing Machine tanzt mit seinen Logik-Rätseln (auf der Suche nach einem dreistelligen Code) positiv aus der Reihe. Ein, zwei Rätsel gehen immer. Zum Skull King (@schmidt_spiele : ich will eure Version zurück!) braucht man nichts zu sagen. Bestes Stichspiel. Dice Throne (Season 2) hat an unserem Spieletag für beste Unterhaltung gesorgt. Diese Duelle machen, auch wenn man mal auf die Mütze bekommt, extrem viel Spaß. Mit ‚Die Crew‘ und ‚Dorfromantik‘ wurde unsere Familie mit zwei wunderbaren Spielen erfolgreich in den Brettspiel-Bann gezogen.
