After our stagger up Stac Pollaid, I had a crack at the small hill next door. To get to it involved crossing a peat moorland, in which was this remnant of a tree, which reminded me of a skeletal hand. Ever since I first invited Death to lay her loving hands on my life, it has been fundamentally changed. I currently exist in the center of this great paradox, and more physically, at the epicenter of a transitional time in each facet of my life. Anything can happen. Anything can become dissimilar in the next moment, and again in the next. My concept of self is expanding— I am learning to shapeshift; I am training to shed. I am being asked to let go of that which I clung to until my knuckles were white. Where will I go from here? Instead of trying to ground myself in an outcome, how can I put roots down in the unknown? How can I plant seeds in the fertile grounds of mystery? How do I find wholeness when the state of my life and self is an unwound ball of twine? There burns a fire at the core of me, one that has raged at the nucleus of everything I’ve ever created, and now it calls for another marvelous creation: destruction. I am in the zero point. I am in death’s womb. I do not know who I will be birthed into, but I know I will recognize them as me. I’m really not sure if I like the way this post looks, but I am working on letting go of perfectionism. I am still getting the hang of this whole social media thing. The message doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to land upon the ears who are ready to listen. Thank you ❤️

Most of our western world lives as if we are entitled to life; as if we aren’t made from the bones and bodies of all the ones who came before us, as if we get to choose the fate each of us is destined toward, as if we have an endless amount of time between this moment and our crossing into the next world. Death awareness is not only a reality, but living our lives conscious of death is a paradigm-shifting medicine which reverberates out and shifts the world around us. There enters a hunger when we become aware of death: an insatiable desire to savor every morsel of this life. Pain becomes a sacred piece of the journey and no longer something we try to duck away from. Love and forgiveness become religion. Our conversations become more meaningful and relationships more intimate. Awakening to death is awakening to the beauty all around us: it gifts us new eyes. It moves us to put plans in place. It shows us what, in our lives, is truly important to us; a realization that people may only have while on their deathbed in the old paradigm. Imagine the potential if we lived our lives from this moment forward as authentic to that inner part of ourselves as we can be. Can we imagine how we will feel in our dying days having lived this way? Can we imagine how we will feel looking back on our lives having embraced it all? Having loved and lived fully in each moment? When we apprentice with Death, we learn many lessons; most of which teach us how to live. Q: Why is this post about death so colorful? A: Because that’s just how I roll. Because a little bit of absurdism goes a long way. Because death awareness lets us see the colors.

First time visiting the cinema in almost 4 years, and first time experiencing IMAX! Oppenheimer (the person and the movie) was so fascinating. I want to watch it again already, but it will have to wait until it's released on bluray/streaming. It is not a movie for everyone, which became obvious when so many dude bro's at our screening complained when everyone was walking out after the movie. These guys were obviously expecting a Batman movie, but instead got a three hour long movie about people talking. How can you buy a ticket to a movie like Oppenheimer and not knowing what you are getting into?! Hopefully I can catch Barbie this week as well! But of movies released in 2023, Oppenheimer is without a doubt my favorite so far... not that I have watched that many movies released this year, but still! Lastly, I'm going to be surprised if Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. don't take home the Academy Awards for best actor and best supporting actor at the Oscars next year.
