🎗️ SURGERY RESULTS 🎗️ We recently got the full results from both surgeries. After 8 cycles of chemotherapy we were aiming when it came to surgery they would be no active cells & the chemotherapy did it’s job with killing them all. They removed several areas of lung on both sides & even though some of the areas was scar tissue on both sides it still showed viable cells. This means that the cells were still active, even though they have been removed it’s impossible to be certain that no cells are left behind. What’s next for Tommy is now full radiation to his chest area, previously he had proton beam which is more specific to a certain area as it’s the whole chest & sternum that’s not possible this time. We are waiting an appt in the next few weeks to discuss this further & we are hoping he will start this in mid May 💪🏽 We will then have to wait 6 weeks after radiation for his end of treatment CT scan. Let's give a huge round of applause to our badass #FoobOfTheWeek ... @kdj87 ✨ Kristen was 35 years old when she found a lump on her own and had no family history of breast cancer. On Valentine's Day of 2022 💘, she officially became diagnosed with Stage 2B ER+/HER2+ IDC. She went on to have TCHP followed by a DMX with expanders placed and radiation from March to November 2022 but continued immunotherapy until Feb 2023. In April of 2023, she opted to have a delayed DIEP and her next phase of reconstruction was just last month! 🙌 Kristen had a few hiccups during her treatment. She unfortunately had a port infection so she had to have that removed and have a new one placed. Afterward, she was admitted to the hospital 🏥 with sepsis during chemo and became severely anemic. Kristen also had some intraoperative complications during her DIEP procedure. Being an ER doctor herself 🩺 she found a whole new perspective of being on the other side of medicine as a patient. She feels it's significantly helped her give the perspective on how she cares for her own. There's a local group called Here for the Girls, which is for women diagnosed with breast cancer before age 51, which she was thankful to be a part of! Being able to get out to do things with friends on good weeks like go play trivia or get a walk in for some fresh air also helped her significantly 💕 "Take it one step at a time. If you need to, go hour by hour or minute by minute if you need to. And on days you feel good, seize the moment! Pick an activity to get out and do or just do anything that brings you joy and “normalcy” in an otherwise crazy time." 💝
