All the characters are the right balance of authenticity and zaniness, having met some American citizens on holiday who act just like this. They come off as very flawed people but also relatable which is no easy task for any filmmaker. It's gory, funny, weird and entertaining. I have been working 12 hour shifts with one day on and one day off for the past week. Although it’s nice to have a full 24 hours before I’m back to work, it is still very hard. Yesterday was my last day of that popcorn schedule. And At the end of my shift I started talking to my co worker about what I do when I get home. I told her that most days I get home at 8, and make a simple dinner. Her reaction was priceless. She was shocked to know that I even had the energy to cook after work. And she started asking me what I even make so late at night . I honestly didn’t think anything of that conversation, until I remembered, that I used to be just like her. In my 20s as a new nurse, I would get home and I would be so tired that I would go to the pantry, grab a big bag of cereal, and eat a big bowl of cereal before knocking out. Fast forward to today, when I am making simple things like paninis, tacos, and salads for dinner. It left me feeling with such a grateful feeling to see just how far I have come in my wellness journey. I never imagined having more energy now at 36, than I had at 26 🤯 I’m not perfect of course. I am still getting adjusted to these 12 hour shifts. Although I have energy at night, my body isn’t ready to fully wake at 5 am on days I have my 12 hour shifts. But that’s okay. I work with first responders and other shift workers who need help fixing their eating habits. Meal prepping is the first priority but if you’re stuck on shift and you need some food, I’ve listed a few snacks to select and few to avoid below: Snacks to select: ✅ Fairlife Protein Shakes (available at many gas stations) ✅ Greek Yogurt Parfait ✅ Fresh whole fruits or veggies with yogurt dip or hummus ✅ Mixed nuts / trail mix ✅ Beef jerky, turkey jerky ✅ RxBars ✅ Coffee or green tea (if you need a stimulant early in shift) Snacks to avoid: ❌ Chips ❌ Candy, candy bars ❌ Sweet treats (donuts, cookies, cakes) ❌ High-sugar liquids (soda, lemonades, energy drinks etc..) ❌ Highly processed, low-fiber carbs (crackers, bars, pop-tarts) ❌ Fried or greasy foods The goal is to swap highly processed, high-calorie ‘junk’ food for whole, nutrient-dense foods. You don’t have to be perfect either. Aim for a 80/20 or 90/10 approach to eating.
