We are happy to announce 2 films from the Netherlands at the DOKUARTS filmfestival at the: The Photograph/ Sherman De Jesus With a single photograph of his grandfather in his hands, Dutch director Sherman De Jesus goes in search of his story which leads him to present-day Harlem and the former photo studio of James Van Der Zee. In the 1920s, Van Der Zee documented the Harlem Renaissance, a period full of hope and creativity. Sie inszenierten in diversen Installationsräumen die Opferung Isaaks als menschliches Drama. Was ist stärker: das Gebot Gottes oder die Liebe des Vaters? Peter Greenaway is among the great image-makers in film. Still, many are put off by his strict mise en scene or refusal to place the human experience at the narrative’s center, but narrative is for novelists, so what are they griping about? Cinema is image after all. And it is with an entirely unexpected image that Saskia Boddeke opens “The Greenaway Alphabet.” A close-up of Peter Greenaway receiving a haircut. It is immediately humanizing and grounding. He looks up as someone enters the room — we learn it is their daughter Pip — with the softest of welcoming eyes that almost look just a little touched by embarrassment that this grooming is happening before the camera. Boddeke’s choice artfully snips away any expectations that this will ultimately be a “Greenaway” film — rectilinear, systematic — and suggests we may get an altogether new perspective of the person. And we do, but there’s more. The A-Z alphabet lends a familiar Greenaway structure to what are a mix of casual home exchanges and formally arranged scenes between father and daughter talking about family, art, being a human and finding one’s way. Pip is in her teens and Greenaway in his mid-seventies. It’s not so much the what of their exchanges that are the heart of the film but the how: warm, tender, gentle, funny, kind, impatient — both Pip and Boddeke take him to task a few times. What is clear is that mother and daughter are actively trying to understand what makes husband and father tick. We live together as families and still parts of us remain strange to the others. There is much love here and it’s touching. Ci siamo riusciti, mettendoci tutta l'attenzione che richiede questo difficile momento storico, e tutto l'impegno necessario per realizzare un progetto culturale di questa portata. Per nove giorni Catanzaro é stata la capitale del cinema, ospitando registi, attori e personaggi della cultura di altissimo profilo. I premi Oscar Nick Vallelonga e Paul Haggis e ancora John Savage, Peter Greenaway, Saskia Boddeke e Marco Risi hanno tenuto delle masterclass d'eccezione. Ospiti illustri degli eventi speciali sono stati Paolo Bonolis, intervistato da Giovanni Minoli, il Procuratore di Catanzaro, Nicola Gratteri, e Roberta Manfredi, nel centenario della nascita del grande Nino. E ancora i tanti autori emergenti di film e documentari, accompagnati da talent come Lillo, Francesco Pannofino, Francesco Montanari, la cantante Tecla e lo stilista delle star Domenico Vacca, protagonisti delle serate condotte da Carolina Di Domenico. Should museums be closed during quarantine? If supermarkets are open, should we close art down? 🤔 Isn’t it something that keeps us sane and alive during this difficult time the same way the supermarket stuff does? Or can we get sick and die by exposing ourselves to others at the museums? And we should remove any temptation to go out? I personally live on air & art (and wine). One of my favorite Lithuania’s museums is @momuziejus, - I was waiting for it to open like a child is waiting for the summer vacation. And it finally opened. And then closed again because of the pandemic. MO Museum is now showing an exhibition titled ‘Why Is It Hard to Love?’. It is curated by the amazing Dutch multimedia artist and director Saskia Boddeke and one of the most authentic and important filmmakers of our times Peter Greenaway. The exhibition becomes a work of art itself as Greenaway and Boddeke presents site-specific immersive installations in relation to the highlights of Lithuanian contemporary art from the MO Museum and other collections. Such exhibitions curated by these artists were previously shown at the Louvre, Rijksmuseum, Jewish Museum Berlin, Italian Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennial and many other institutions all over the world. We are so lucky to have it Vilnius, aren’t we? Have you seen this exhibition yet? What do you think about closing the museums because of the pandemic?

Tik dabar prisiruošiau aplankyti MO muziejuje surengtą, režisieriaus Peter Greenaway ir jo gyvenimo partnerės, menininkės Saskia Boddeke kuruojamą parodą. 🎨 ⭐️ Tai specialiai MO muziejui jų sukurta instaliacija ir iš muziejaus archyvų atrinkta lietuvių dailininkų ekspozicija. Boddeke ir P. Kai sakinys prasideda žodžiu “kodėl” nebūna lengvų atsakymų;) gali būti tavo, mano pasvarstymai, gali kažkur mūsų pajautimai sutapti, o atsakymas taip pat gali būti trumpas ir greitas, o gali išsitęsti iki visos istorijos. “Kodėl taip sunku mylėti” vadinas dabar paroda MO muziejuj. tai va ten galima užtrukt dvim minučių, bet galima ilgai ieškot atsakymų nuotraukose, paveiksluose, instaliacijose. tada dėliot su savo prisiminimais, patyrimais, pojūčiais ir muzika, skambančia, kaip fonas, visom mūsų mintim sujungti. meilė tikrai visokia ir, man atrodo, labiausiai ją jaučiam, kai jos trūksta. tada suprantam, kokio ji didelio svorio ir kaip moka užgriūt širdį ir kelt virpuliukus arba sukelt ilgesį, tekantį kūnu. po parodos reik neskubėt, prisėst, išgert taurę, geriausia, turėt su kuo pasikalbėt, nes labai to norisi, net, jei visi išeina su labai skirtingom emocijom. bet meilė tokia jau yra - sukas planetos tik dėl jos:) #momuziejus #vilnius #lietuva #lithuania #modernart #modernartmuseum #museum #muziejus #momuseum #moseumvilnius #saskiaboddeke #petergreenaway#
M Y L Ė T I Pirmą kartą MO - ir iškart tokia paroda. Net tik kad pagrindinė instaliacija wow, bet ir tiek daug lietuvių menininkų darbų, kalbančių ta pačia tema - KODĖL TAIP SUNKU MYLĖTI? Vaikščiojau ir galvojau, kad šiaip jau tai nėra sunku. Bet kai šalia 'pridedi' pabėgėlių temą, nepriteklių, jautrius klausimus netradicinių porų atžvilgiu, pernelyg dideles aistras ir savęs ieškojimą - mhm, ok. Gal ir tikrai sunku? Ne ką mažiau įdomu buvo 'Mekas mirksi geriau'. Eina sau. Kai pagalvoji, nuotraukos visiškų to metų legendų: Salvadoro Dali, Elvio, John Lennon. Ir čia ne tai kad 'žiūrėkit su kuo aš bendravau'. Šiandien, per Mindaugo karūnavimo dieną, apsilankėm @momuziejus Čia vyksta #saskiaboddeke ir #petergreenaway paroda #kodėltaipsunkumylėti Puiki, paliečianti ir verčianti susimąstyti. Rekomenduoju imti audio gidą. Žiūrėdama į @a.r.gataveckas darbą ir klausydama balso ausinėse jaučiau, kaip širdim ir kūnu nubėgo adatėlės. Taip jau yra su ta meile. Kažkaip mažas vaikas ją tiesiog duoda, ima, jos trokšta. Štai suaugus atsiranda kitokių variantų, nepaisan to, jog vidinis troškimas tas pats.... Kažkaip prisiminiau kaip Sauliaus Šaltenio romane “Geležiniai gyvatės kiaušiniai” sako Marta, Jaelės Gvadelupės motina. Gal laiko trūko tam pasakyt?...
