“The Idea of You” è tratto dall’omonimo libro di Robinne Lee, pubblicato in Italia il mese scorso da Sperling & Kupfer, ma uscito per la prima volta negli USA nel 2017. È la storia di Solène Marchand, trentanovenne divorziata proprietaria di una galleria d’arte a Los Angeles, che accompagna la figlia Isabelle al concerto della boy-band di fama mondiale August Moon. Così incontra Hayes Campbell, frontman della band, con il quale nasce subito una sintonia che nessuno dei due riesce a ignorare. Hayes ha 24 anni: c’è una considerevole differenza di età tra lui e Solène, che però sembra non esistere quando sono insieme. Così Solène parte con lui per la tournée, e “quella che inizia come una serie di incontri clandestini in varie città si evolve rapidamente in una relazione appassionata”. La storia, sia nella sua versione originale, forse ancora di più nel suo adattamento cinematografico, presenta molti tratti tipici di una fanfiction. In questo caso in particolare, non è difficile immaginare come mai molti pensino che sia una fanfiction su Harry Styles. L’incontro casuale al concerto, l’attrazione a prima vista, la canzone dedicata dal palco, la relazione segreta che poi viene fuori e fa scandalo tra i fan. Ma anche più nel dettaglio, la caratterizzazione di Hayes, i tatuaggi, gli anelli, il suo modo di corteggiare Solène... Eppure l’autrice, in un articolo scritto per il Time di recente, non solo ha negato il fatto, ma ha affermato che paragonare la sua storia a una fanfiction è “riduttivo e sbrigativo”. #TheIdeaofYou, scrive Lee, tratta temi come la differenza di età intersecandolo con il sessismo, la maternità e l’agency delle donne in generale. Qui cède au charme du leader du groupe préféré de sa fille unique j’ai nommé Hayes Campbell : 20 ans. Le résumé m’a clairement intrigué, j’étais curieuse suivant ces tropes clairement mise en avant : age gap - relation interdite/cachée - célébrité ✨ J’ai adoré cette lecture. Profondément. Parce que si au début on se dit « chauuuuud 19 ans d’écart… » on comprends vite qu’effectivement : l’âge n’est qu’un chiffre, car dans ce livre, l’auteure réussit à nous faire tomber amoureux de cette histoire et surtout de leur relation. À chaque discussion, à chaque échange, à chaque moments : on les voit tomber amoureux. 🥹 Je suis amoureuse du personnage d’Hayes. Dans le livre, il est si mature, il sait ce qu’il veut, quand il le veut, pourquoi il le veut. Et il le dit, il le clame, haut et fort. J’ai eu de la peine pour le personnage de Solène qui, à côté de cette histoire, reste une femme ainsi qu’une mère. Elle se cherche. Elle se re-découvre, en partie grâce à Hayes. Leur histoire est unique et m’a fait pleurer après coup. Je ne m’attendais pas à une lecture aussi profonde, intense et qui me donnerait autant à réfléchir. Já era um pouco de estranhar tanto ter falado do livro e do advento desta adaptação e ainda não me ter pronunciado sobre a mesma. De facto, já saiu há praticamente 2 semanas e devo começar por referir que não me surpreendeu a rápida e estrondosa receção que o filme teve, pois basta ver quem o está a protagonizar e em quem o enredo se inspira. Porém, a crítica divide-se e muitas questões se levantaram sobre esta produção, por isso, deixai então o perito desta história falar 😅 Ora, referindo primeiramente os aspetos positivos, só tenho um a destacar: a banda sonora. Houve, claramente, um excelente trabalho de produção musical e a forma como usaram as músicas para promover o filme foi extremamente inteligente. Eu próprio não paro de as ouvir, uma vez que, tal como muitos sucessos comerciais, são muito viciantes e com um bom ritmo. Relativamente ao acting, creio que não haja muito a referir. Num vídeo que gravei já tinha falado sobre as expectativas deste departamento e não há palavras para descrever o talento da Anne Hathaway, ainda que, a meu ver, tenha denotado uma maior entrega na segunda metade do filme; mas poderia ser mesmo essa a intenção da atriz, fazer algo gradual e crescente. A história foi fiel ao livro em alguns aspetos, no entanto, não posso dizer que não gostei das alterações que fizeram, já que não gostei assim tanto do livro. A meu ver, não melhorou, nem piorou, o enredo foi simplesmente contado de uma outra forma. Houve também alguns erros de produção, mais especificamente, em termos de coerência e continuidade, todavia, é algo que já está um pouco normalizado para este tipo de produtos, infelizmente. Uma última observação diz respeito àquilo que mais me transtorna em adaptações literárias: a alteração do final do filme quando comparado com o original. A meu ver, a cena final foi completamente desnecessária, uma vez que retira a essência da base e daquilo que se pretende transmitir com a história. Questa volta vi parlo di un libro letto perché spinta dalla curiosità di capire esattamente cosa avessero cambiato dal libro il film di Amazon: The Idea of you . . E devo dire che l’hanno totalmente stravolto in senso negativo, purtroppo dire perché il libro è davvero bello ma il film… lasciamo perdere. . . Partiamo dai protagonista della storia: Hayes presentato come ventenne all’interno del libro, tatuaggi e aria di un ragazzo responsabile ma comunque preso dalla vita di una rock star con ragazze diverse con la quale passare la serata. Capelli scuri, quasi neri ma decorati da dei meravigliosi ricci che ricadono spesso sulla fronte, non dimentichiamo però quelle fossette che appaiono ad ogni sorriso o quando semplicemente sa ciò che vuole e se lo prende Fondatore della boy band gli August Moon, nonché la penna dei testi delle canzoni, ad ogni suo scritto segue successo. . . Hayes del film viene rappresentato come quasi sulla soglia dei 25 anni, membro della band ma non molto contento poi di farne parte ma soprattutto della vita che ne consegue dall’essere famoso, membro del gruppo ma non così fondamentale per quanto riguarda la scrittura dei testi come invece appare nel libro. Capelli chiari e corti, totale assenza di quelle fossette che vengono perennemente richiamate invece all’interno del libro ovvio è che è difficile trovare un attore che rispecchi perfettamente le caratteristiche di un protagonista del libro. . . In India and everywhere else in this world, people are fine with an older man marrying a young woman but when it’s the woman all hell breaks loose. All sorts of abuses are coming her way because she is in her 40’s. How dare she? Oh, my goodness, she is loving a child. She’s being a mother to her boyfriend. Or what the hell? What kind of example is she setting up for the coming generation? Because men have fairly failed in setting up a good example. It all comes back to the women to take care of the world. I am crying now. Can you see my tears? The idea of you should be watched by all those misogynistic populations that believe one thing is for men and other is for women. Like they decide for you all the time. This is what they are good at. And those people who believe that in western countries everything is so open, and people are broadminded will shock you. The majority of the people aren’t. Some men believe in damaging their women over a small issue rather than letting her be free to live her life. Some men kill her pets. Some men destroy their daughters. No! I am not beating around the bush. I have read enough books on these topics to make myself understand that abuse is a real issue. Okay! Coming back to the movie, I would say let people live their life. Let’s not get inspired by them and let’s not bully them. Choose your people wisely. If you don’t agree with something, leave that thing right there. You don’t have to start abusing that person or whatever the situation is because you couldn’t accept it. Watch this movie because it’s really beautiful, emotional and it’s the way I like it. As it’s based on the book, I am going to read the book as well.
