PRIDE AND PROTEST | REVIEW Book Grade: B+ I really liked this modern retelling of Jane Austen’s classic novel! Told through the lens of real estate development and city gentrification, I felt like Nikki Payne did a great job of bringing in all the longing and missteps from the original into this one. There are some parts in the second half that felt a little clunky to me (especially around the use of social media and the way that companies are controlled), but I really liked the characters and their development. I honestly would read more books with them in it with whatever storylines! As a Philly gal, I love to see my city pop up in fiction, but this one is nicely based all along the East Coast. I loved that the two wars were connected between the families. I loved the surprise/twist with the watch. This story gave a wide view of the lives of Coventry during WWII. 💫💛 Book review Lost & Found KU read This was my first book by @c.smith_books , I didn’t read the blurb before I started reading the book as I wanted to be surprised. The dedication page alone got me hooked once I started ❤️ I really enjoyed this book and read it in a day though it was sometimes an emotional read due to the themes in the book that are a key part of the story , I liked the fast pace of the story and was drawn in from the opening paragraph . It’s about Sophie and Hugh who meet when Sophie moves to the small town where Hugh is the local Fire fighter and she is working as a waitress in the local cafe . Their story unfolds from the first time they meet and all the obstacles and cute moments they go through as their relationship develops . They are both dealing with in their own lives & various ways lost love , tragedy , betrayal and self re discovery . They also have a community of friends who surround them and support them in the town that adds to the story. Sophie the FMC was relatable and likeable and her character grew and developed through the story which I liked she took the obstacles she had to deal with and turned them around . The MMC Hugh 😮💨 give me a man who is a smooth dirty talker and also not afraid of letting out his emotions. It quickly became clear that the son and Jordan didn’t have such a strong bond and Jordan felt attracted to Pike and vice versa. When Jordan and her boyfriend had to move to Pike, the fun began🙃 The dynamic and bond between Pike and Jordan was so intense from the start. Pike has a special and really masculine character that captivated me from the start. He is such a good-hearted person who was happy with his life even if he noticed that something was missing. You immediately noticed that there was a spark between them. His behavior towards Jordan was caring and he really wanted to spoil her and behaved like her husband, but of course he didn’t realize it himself and he didn’t want to admit that he was attracted to her 😪 I always found it funny when Pike didn’t control his eyes and looked at Jordan’s body hahahaha. Jordan has a self-confident character but doesn’t want to be a burden to anyone and therefore always tries to be helpful, even going so far as to take over the entire household. The teasing between the two was so incredibly sweet you could tell that they couldn’t live without each other and the happy ending was the highlight. Been awhile, but back in March I finished Now Is Not the Time to Panic. This novel follows Frankie, a sixteen year old girl living in nowhere Tennessee, and Zeke, her new to town, troubled friend. Bored and lonely for the summer, the pair accidentally sets off a town panic using a mysterious poster they created. The poster follows Frankie into adulthood, even well after the panic has ended. I found this book so engaging. The prose and Frankie’s inner monologue, while not overly complicated, was strikingly unique. Frankie and Zeke are two teens dedicated to art and their dedication verges on obsession. Kevin Wilson’s writing perfectly captures Frankie’s growing obsession, making the reader both despise her and agree with her. Frankie is only an extreme of every teenager, but we can’t help but be frustrated by her rash decisions and obsessive behavior. I typically don’t like books that include a perspective from the present and one from the past, because one is always more interesting than the other. However, in Now Is Not the Time to Panic, these two perspectives blended so seamlessly together, it’s almost impossible to pick a favorite. 📚MY APRIL READS 📚 This month I yet again traveled through time and space and have visited Ukraine, Germany, Argentina, Spain, Chile, West Bank, Jordan and have been all over the US. I have had a splendid time in Minnesota actually where I found the love of my life lol :-) I also survived the divorce (actually make it two!!) and was completely exasperated by college student machinations (or was that real life lol?). While writing my follow up novel, which was quite a task! I also descended into the hell of slavery and was able to rise up only with poetic hope and imagery of Jesmyn Ward. I buddy read with two of my favorite buddy readers @novelboundbliss and @the.reading.potato (discussion coming up) and attended an amazing book club with @zibbyowens hosted by @matzahbooksoup . 🇰 🇮 🇳 🇩 🇱 🇪 🇷 🇪 🇦 🇩 with the potential to be a trophy on my shelf⭐️ I was unsure of the story at first. I haven't read many "monster romance" books so I needed some time to get into it. But like 40% through I was hooked. The more you get to know of the world and why it is like it is now, you really get attached to the characters. That is always an important part to me. I really enjoyed the dual POV from Mira and Arges. It shows the difficulties they have, with understading each other very well. It was great following their progress until they discovered there's more they feel for another. It is a real Enemies to Lovers story❤️ I'm looking forward to read the stories of the characters I got zo know in this book. HUNGER came out yesterday, and I'm currently drafting my review for Talon and Eden's romance. If you're looking for a vampire/mafia romance, you have to add Hunger (and the whole Vampire Syndicate series, tbh) to your TBR. ✨️ what I'm reading now: I started THE COVETED AND THE CURSED by Lylah Taylor late last night, and I'm sad I had to put the book down and sleep. This Beauty and the Beast retelling has already grabbed me, and I'm only 2% in so far. I'm left speechless after this book. I usually don't read books like this because I'm very emotional but I wanted to read this one before I watched the show. I can't even imagine the things people had to endure during the Holocaust. There were times when I had to set the book down. This was based on a true story. And the love story and survival story in this is truly amazing. 🧡 Awake at Dawn 🧡 Noah London is the epitome of swoonville, and you’ll never convince me otherwise. And the way Amelie Rhys writes female characters feels like an attack on my own insecurities, she makes them devastatingly relatable and I love it. Gemma was real, and terrific, and the way she embraced her impromptu pregnancy was beautiful. Awake at Dawn was absolutely the way romance, especially with this particular personal circumstance, SHOULD be written. Not the Dad but is the Daddy is my favorite and you’ll never convince me otherwise. A man that chooses MORE will forever be a weakness for me, and the way Noah London chooses MORE took me out at the knees more often than not. Man was almost too beautiful for processing. Also, let it be known that flashbacks in books can so easily not work, but the way in which @amelierhys.author incorporates those flashbacks, how important they are for setting the scene and portraying the *pining* is flawless and kind of my new favorite thing. I loved it in Alive at Night, and am now obsessed with the way it adds to the story. Highly recommend this book, can’t recommend it (or Amelie Rhys) enough. And there were so many teases for side characters with the potential to be main characters I’m giddy over what this incredible series brings next. Awake at Dawn was so incredibly satisfying. 💛

Je la termine avec beaucoup de nostalgie et d’émotion ( tsais la meuf dans l’abus) Ce tome était incroyable, stella et christan mes chouchous ! J’ai vraiment eu un énorme coup de cœur pour Christian, vraiment de A à Z, je l’ai adoré, gros crush sur lui. C’est littéralement mon homme préféré de toute la saga (suivi de prêt par Alex et Rhys) Le seul point faible que j’ai eu pendant ma lecture c’est vraiment le fait que j’arrivais à deviner tout ce qui allait se passer après, je n’ai eu aucun effet de surprise, bon bien sûr ça ne ma pas gâché la lecture, mais voilà !
